Prologue

The world had ended. And she knew that. Stephanie watched the empty and dead Western Diamond City with wary and alert eyes that seemed to hone in on every detail. She strapped her shotgun back onto her back, and climbed onto her motorcycle. Turning it on, she rode towards the city, completely tense.
Western Diamond City was located in sunny California, in the middle of scenic nowhere. The city had been a mine at first during the pioneer times, but it soon became a huge city that housed the rich and the greedy. The diamond veins in West Diamond City’s mine never seemed to dry up, and everyone hired their own workers to harvest diamonds from the mine. Stephanie’s father, the smartest man in the known universe, had created a safe house here incase anything happened to the thousands of other safe houses. That was why Stephanie was here.
Stopping her motorcycle, Stephanie raised her shotgun and shot once into the air. She waited and counted to twenty before continuing at a slow pace. The safe house, according to her father’s map, was located in the very center of town.
Genius. She thought while snorting. Everyone had said her father was genius. Everyone but her. To her, he had been her idiotic best friend.
Tensing even more, Stephanie looked around quickly. Something wasn’t right. Climbing off of her motorcycle, she gripped her handgun firmly and looked around. Movement in the corner of her eyes made her spin around to face the entrance to town. Something crashed into her bike, and she spun around cursing. Clawing at the ground to try and reach her, Stephanie pointed her gun at the human’s face, grimacing at the rotting flesh, pale face, and blood red eyes. She fired briefly, sending two bullets into the creature’s head. It collapsed a few inches from her, it’s blood pooling around it and touching her motorcycle.
“Great.” She muttered. “Just great.”
Because the creature’s blood had touched the bike, she now believed it to be contaminated. Preparing herself for a long walk, Stephanie stepped past the bike and the dead zombie, walking into the center of Western Diamond City.
