here's a story i just started writing(i might turn it into a graphic novel), i need a little help coming up with better words to use and some critiquing
^^
Also im not sure where this takes place, (sorry) any suggestions?
please try to be nice this is one of my first stories~

Lost in the Past
Prologue
What’s it like for someone you hold dear to disappear into the darkness? Well it goes something like this…
My friend Jekano and Tami (that’s me) used to play everyday during summer in the backyard of our parents’ summer place in the countryside. But one day Jekano didn’t show up. I waited for 3-4 hours, and went over to his place. His mom said hi, told he’s not there and that he went for a walk.
My dad drove his truck with me to find him. Jekano was standing by our favorite river with m locket in his hand and dove in. I yelled his name, got out the truck and went after him. He wasn’t there, and all I found was my locket…
Soaking wet, I stood on the bank of the river with the locket. I opened it and heard the poem he used to tell me, during my misery:
Quote:
There have been times in my life
when all seemed lost.
Life just wasn't worth living
through another day.
Then you need to remember things
that are important to you.

For as low as we fall there is always
something or someone, somewhere,
to help pull you back
from the deep pits of darkness.
Once you feel yourself slipping (Ann Taylor’s Hold On)
grab on to that something or someone.

As I closed the locket, tears continued to run down my face. I finished reciting the poem from memory:

Quote:
We wonder why life has given us such
a bad deal. This is not to question.
Love, Hope and Faith will guide us.
Look around and find the things
you need to live for.
If we look hard enough,
we will find the place we need to be.

Hold on for your loved ones,
hold on for yourself. God will take you
when he needs you. Until then
make the most of what you have.
Give the most that you can,
love the best you can,
and never lose hope.

Each morning you wake up
Thank God you are still alive,
to live another day to find your way.

Life is truly worth living for, if you look.
Find that place you need to be (Ann Taylor- ‘Hold on’ poem)
and just hold on to me.

When I finished my citation, I came to a realization, ‘All those things he told me through those years, were they all…. a lie?’ Dad tried to comfort me with his silly remarks, but I responded in slurred words “Dad, I jus’…wanna go home...”
Long story short; it’s the most devastating thing that could ever happen in a little girl’s life.

Chapter 1
~A few years later~
I dyed and cut my hair since that summer, from a platinum blonde to a dark (almost black) brown.
Last month, my mother gave me this gorgeous bracelet made of jade and aqua-colored stones from one of her travels for my 15th birthday and said that it holds some sort of mysterious power. At first I thought it was just a myth, but I was shocked by the turn of events; it did give me power: the ability to create monsters out of earth and metal.

And it somehow affected my conscience.
I’ve had the same dream for the past few nights: seeing Jekano’s face and figure walking into the darkness, chasing him, remembering that day, the lock, and yelling his name. As I wake up, thinking to myself, “What does this mean, is he out there… somewhere?” “Thinking back to those years, he might have been giving me hints that something was wrong, but I was too oblivious.”

Day after I day I wake up and start deciphering my dreams and remembering, what we did in the past, and all the different signals he might have given me. As he would say, ‘There have been times in my life when all seemed lost, then I’d think of you.’ “Has he been suffering? But he hasn’t shown that in front of me.” While thinking, my cell rings, “Moshi, moshi.” …. “oh hey, Lani”

~~~~~~~~
In the river, as the water rushes past, he looses grip of the locket and swims deep into the darkness. While in the eternal spinning darkness, a silhouette appeared, and then he lost consciousness.
Jekano wakes up finding himself in a tavern. He sees a waitress, “Excuse me miss, Where am I?”
“You can call me Ruby and this is The Traveling Lion Tavern.” “Would you like to stay here?”
“Sure, but have you seen my mom, about 5’5”, long reddish hair?
“No, just some man with a long coat. He dragged you in here and told me to watch over you, until you woke up.”
“Oh… What did he look like?”
“Tall, black spiked hair, dark skin.”
“Oh okay.” answers Tekao as he gets up.
“Wait! Are you sure you don’t want to stay for the night?”
“No thanks.” As he walks out, Ruby says her goodbyes “Well, if you change your mind, I’ll be here all night.”
As he walks down the street, he starts to understand his situation. He has no money, a few years seem to have gone past and he has no clue where he is. One thing’s for sure, he is definitely not 12 any more. ‘Where the hell am I?!” he screams in his head, “This is definitely not Celestia!
This is the first bit~
btw: the converstations are colored, to make it easier(this will be more helpful as i add more of my story):
Indigo is Tami talking
Dark red is Jekano talking
Blue is Ruby talking
