I created this thread because I thought it'd be cool to have a discussion about art, whether creation of, appreciation of, or even hatred of! If you want to share any art you've done feel free. Yall can see some poems and a bit of other art that I've done at http://berylalexandros.deviantart.com. I also play fiddle, mostly old-time and Irish, and a bit of mandolin. And I write novels, but have yet to try getting anything published. So, what are your thoughts on art? What in your mind makes something art? What part do you think art should have in a person's education? How important do you think art is to society? Feel free to answer any of those questions, ask your own, or pretty much say whatever the heck you want.

Well to answer that, what is art, simply art is something which is an expression, the art of war is an expression of anger and intelligence, the arts themselves though are what are most commonly referred to as art. the rest of the questions are all only answerable on how you answer the question what is art. I feel that it should only have a minor role if you are referring to the arts, but the art of mathematics is one thing to think about. once again art is valuable as a means of expression, but may harm it if abused as a means to support a cause.

I would qualify myself as an artist. I used to write alot (stories and poetry), I play the guitar and sing (I used to be in a band), I act (plays and my friends movies), and I've been trying to do some little comics. Whee.

Isabella Monroe I would qualify myself as an artist. I used to write alot (stories and poetry), I play the guitar and sing (I used to be in a band), I act (plays and my friends movies), and I've been trying to do some little comics. Whee. If you wouldn't mind sharing some poems you've written, I'd love to see them...

And yes, I did the first page of one of my comics in, but it's really hard to read.

I consider myself an artist, although alot of the time I am dissatisfied with it. I do write on occasion, and I have recently taken up on playing the lap harp, but I mostly draw. I also paint sometimes.

peoples if you have drawings please scan them and show them off, you'll get only stuff like, that leg looks detached, oh it is detached, no wonder there is so much blood and stuff like that... yeah sick mind I know.

Made up a rap using some shakespeare from midsummer nights dream...works really well! that iambic pentameter was made for rap!!

I love art - I have art lessons and piano lessons, and I hope to have celtic harp lessons as well as soon as one of my piano teacher's other students decides to buy a harp and return their rental. I also knit, and I sometimes go to a knitting group after my art lessons, and embroidering is another of my hobbies. 3nodding I also write, and I have a strange love of editing... which I most likely get from my dad, the journalist/writer/editor. sweatdrop
Since Arenlor asked for art pieces, here's one of my really old doodles. As soon as I either figure out if I can replace my broken USB port or get a new computer, I'll scan in some more recent ones, but this one's about two or three years old. 4laugh
