To be wholly honest, I'm surprised there isn't a thread up for this series yet. Let's change that!
I, for one, adore this series. Urban fantasy has been a huge favorite of mine since I read...The Lightning Thief? Anyway, I love the concept of a whole other world in the amidst of out cities, trying to carve out a living.
Lemme give you the basic idea of the series.
Harry Dresden is the only openly, practicing wizard in the Chicago phonebook, as well as a private investigator. His specialty is lost items, and won't do parties, love potions, shrinking purses or any other forms of entertainment. He's occasionally called in by the CPD to help solve crimes, usually murders, committed by magic. So he has to deal with things like werewolves, vampires, ghosts, zombies, faeries or whatever yucky denizen of the Nevernever you can think of.
They are highly entertaining books by Jim Butcher, the author of the Codex Alera series. A nice noir detective novel with the perfect blast of fantasy.

This! Ahhhhh I love the Dresden Files!
I'm being evil though and I haven't read Turn Coat yet... because I'm still in the middle of Small Favor.
But Ahhhh! Much love!
Butcher is just awesome, his humor is excellent, Harry is such a well thought out character, and the world he lives in is just an absolute blast to read about!

 I know! xDD
I'm in the same boat with Turn Coat. All I know is that karma manages to catch up with Morgan.
I think all the characters are great! But I gotta say Bob is my favroite, by far. A talking skull that likes trashy romance novels? Total win. Got a favorite book?

Dresden ... oh yes. Saw the show on sci-fi, discovered books, ripped thru everything I could lay my hands on. Dead Beat needs replacing because me, my husband and my son have read it until it fell apart! I love the Dresden files. I want to write that well some day ... LOL Oh, and we've introduced two other friends to the series of books.

I've been reading Dresden on and off for a couple of months now. I'm only up to "Dead Beat", though. My favorite so far has been "Blood Rites"... I think. Whichever one had Dresden fighting against the entropy curse.

I love these books! They've been my favorite for a while now. I ended up finding Summer Knight first and reading it even though I never start with books in the middle of the series, but after that I had to go out and buy them all. The only one I don't have is the most recent one out, (I don't remember what it's called) the rest I've read dozens of times. I also make all my friends read them, so far everyone's loved them and read the whole series.
Has anyone read the other fantasy series he's been doing? I don't remember what it's called but I always see it on the shelf with the Dresden Files. They never have the first one though, and I haven't bothered to track it down.

The other series that he's written is Codex Alera. I highly recommend it. I bought all the books, and it's one of the few series that I can re-read just about daily. It's also one of the few that I have semi-memorized... sweatdrop Anyways, it's great. It's complete, at a total of six books, and it is a definite must have.
