Patch was lying at a stream; pawing the water back and forth. She was acting very lazy, despite her normal playful self. It was all because she had a lot on her mind. She looked at her reflection with pride and a little bit of sorrow. Childhood was long gone. She could hardly believe how much had changed. She could still remember being a little cub. Well at least there was one thing she knew hadn't changed. Patch slowly got up and stretched. Then she happily went out to find Kahawa, her best friend. Just seeing his face would be enough to cheer Patch up.

With a huge yawn Kahawa got up. He had been sleeping all day under a tree in the cool shadow. Sleeping was nice but now he was in for something more interesting. He stood up and shaked the sand off his fur and manes. Having manes sure was hot on days like this. When he was young that wouldn't be a problem. But those days were over now and things we're different. Kahawa looked around to see if another lion was nearby. Maybe Patch.. he was always up for some fun with his best friend.

Patch finally thought she saw her buddy. Even in the shadow of a tree his red and white striped mane was unmistakable. He had grown up a lot as well. It was always a little surprising at first to see him, especially bigger then herself. Yes, Patch was older then him but it didn't show. "Kahawa! Over here," she called. She ran to him. "How are you?" As predicted, Patch forgot all of her problems.

Kahawa heard someone calling. He turned his head and saw someone moving through the grass. He still had difficulties spotting Patch with that camouflage of hers. She could sneak right up to him, like she had done many times in the past, and he still wouldn't see her. "Hey there Patch!" He called. Seeing her always perked him up a lot. "Well, I'm doing fine I guess. Been lazying around all day. Nothing special. By the way... are you up to something?" He asked, seeing Patch's playful expression.

"Nothing in particular yet," Patch replied, "I was hoping that I might bump into an adventure. But you know I couldn't have a proper adventure without you. If Zahina herself came down and offered me the adventure of a lifetime, I’d refuse to partake in any fun nomatter how exciting until you could be there to join me."
Purhaps Patch was over reacting a little, but it had been quite some time since a great adventure came along. Plus, Patch wanted Kahawa to know she cared. "So, any ideas where we should go?"

Hearing the big compliment from Patch made feel warm in the inside. It made him happy to hear his friend cared as much for him as he did for her. "Well Patch, I want you to know the same goes for you always. I wouldn't want to do anything exciting without you at my side." He said to her with a smile. Kahawa couldn't think of a situation where he'd have to do something while Patch was no there. They had always done their things together.
Kahawa then put the subject aside and thought of something he and Patch could do. "Uhmm...I guess feel quite hungry. Shall we go hunt some game?" The day was coming to an end and that was the best hunting time.

Patch was happy to hear that Kahawa felt the same.
Patch nodded at his hunting idea. "I'm up for it," she said. Her stomach gurgled. She was curious to see how well they'd do. She was stealthy for sure and she imagined that Kahawa was probably very fast. "Well, let's head out," she said cheerfully.

"Let's go then!" Kahawa said. Together they walked over the planes. Now and then they would stop and look around if they saw some suitable prey. While walking Kahawa's minds drifted off. The horizon was turning red now, his favorite time of day. He could look for hours at it and it would still be beautiful. There were days when he watched the sky together with Patch. Those moments alwats made Kahawa happy...
Then a sudden rustling sound made him come back to the present. Kahawa turned his head, looking in the direction of the sound. In the bushes sat a creature. He could smell deer. It was big enough to fill both their stomachs. "Ssht.." He whispered to Patch. Kahawa lowered his body to the ground, giving a small nod to Patch as a sign. They had learnt to surround their prey. Trap it. He crouched slowly around to the other side of the bush. He would be the attacker, Patch the ambush. When Kahawa reached the correct position he dug his hind legs in the sand. Then with a loud roar he jumped at the bushes chasing the deer out in Patch's direction. "Now Patch, get it!" He called to her.

Patch waited till it was seconds away from her. She made sure to give the deer a false sense of security. Then she leaped out of the grass for the kill. It was a lot easier with Kahawa to hunt, that was for sure. The deer didn't stand a chance.
Now the sun had set, leaving a faint red glow on the western horizon. "That was exciting," Patch said, "Now we have a wonderful feast and a romantic setting." After she spoke she stuttered and felt regretful. "Uh, I meant beautiful! A beautiful setting!" She tried to correct herself. Patch didn't know why she said 'romantic'. True, she loved spending time with Kahawa... But did she love him? She looked into his green eyes, hoping she'd find her answer. Yeah, it had to be love. But what would he think?

((At the end of this RP I think they have to travel to the Zahina Breeding Temple. I read about it on page #2 of the thread. Does that sound right?))

((Sure ^^))
Kahawa laughed at Patch's correction. They indeed had a wonderful feast and a nice setting. "I liked it better when you called it romantic." He said with a wide grin. When he met Patch's gaze the spark was very clear. Kahawa was sure Patch was more to him than his best friend. He loved her deeply, but he never had the guts to say it before. Now he had to choose the right words and just say it to Patch. "Patch.. you're much more than a friend to me. I care so much about you and I couln't think of a life without you." He told her, his heart pounding so loudly he was afraid Patch would hear it. Uneasy Kahawa stood before her. He wanted his answer and couldn't help to ask "Do you..... do you feel the same?".

Patch was shaky. Kahawa felt the same way as she did, so no pressure. There was no reason to still feel nervous, right? So, why was she lightheaded? She nodded a bit.
'Alright don't freeze up. You're brave,' she thought. It's funny how even the bravest creature's minds crumble into a nervous wreck due to the feeling of love.
Then she decided to just come out and say it. It was like taking a swim in a cold pond. She couldn't ease her way in. She had to just take the risk and leap in with no regrets.
"Of corse I feel the same. I feel empty when you're not around," she said, "Kahawa... I... I love you."

It felt like Kahawa's stomach turned in his belly. Butterflies everywhere! He suddenly felt so happy he gave Patck a lick on her nose before he realized it. He quickly pulled back, blushing of embarrasment. 'What are you doing in Zahina's name?! You're behaving yourself like a little cub, be a man!' He thought by himself but it didn't help. "Oh uh... sorry about that. I'm just so happy to hear you say that Patch. I always thought you would burst out laughing, asking me if I made a joke if I would confess my love." He said with a sigh of relief. It was turning dark now and the moon was shinig bright. The carcass of the deer still lying next to them, blood sipping out. But Kahawa spend no attention to it. All he was focused on was the lion before him he so dearly loved.

Patch saw that Kahawa was just as nervous and embarrassed as herself. She didn't want him to be scared of doing something wrong. Now that she felt confident enough to confess, she wanted him to be confident too. So, she licked him back after some thought on the matter. "You don't have to worry. I won't laugh at you. But I know how you feel. I was afraid it could have jeopardized our friendship if I said anything. Now, everything is looking up," she said with a grateful smile.
Her next action was like walking on pins and needles. She decided that she should act upon instinct. So Patch moved closer and snuggled up to Kahawa.

Someone snuggling you felt good. Kahawa felt his muscles loosening, giving in to Patch's movements. He did the only thing he could think of. He snuggled her back, holding his body close to hers. "I love you too Patch, with whole my heart." He whispered. It had turned fully dark by this time and the stars were shinig bright. "I think Zahina must be in a good mood, giving us such a beautiful night." Kahawa chuckled. Together they just sat there, looking at the sky and enjoying each other company. Kahawa just couldn't imagine any better moment is his life than this one. Never before he had been so happy. He looked at Patch and gave her another lick.
