Has anybody seen Lost In Austen? If not, it's a mini-series about a girl (Amanda Price) finding a portal from her bathroom to Elizabeth Bennet's home. She and Elizabeth switch places, with Amanda living in Longbourn while Lizzy lives in modern London. Amanda basically alters the course of the novel.

Also, there's a book called "Lost In Austen: Choose Your Own Jane Austen Adventure". It's a choose-your-own-adventure book where you start of as Elizabeth, and the choices you make can bring you to all the other novels. I think the basic plot is finding a husband, but I can't be too sure.

So, has anybody here watched/read/heard about Lost In Austen?

I found some images from the show. I put descriptions under the pictures, but they're in white to hide spoilers. Highlight them if you want:

User Image
Wickham teaches Amanda some proper manners.

User Image
Full view of Wickham's face.

User Image
Wickham, Darcy and Bingley.

User Image
This would be Wickham, Lydia, Kitty, Jane, Amanda, Mary and Mrs. Bennet.

User Image
Another picture of Mr. Darcy.

User Image
Mr. Darcy holding Tinky-Winky...this really happened on the show, I swear.

User Image
Elizabeth, Amanda and Mr. Darcy. And yes, that is the woman from Quantum of Solace.

User Image
Amanda and Mr. Darcy share a kiss.

User Image
And finally, Elizabeth embraces a short 'do while taking on the job of a nanny in the modern world.

I LOOOOVE the picture of Darcy with Tinky Winky. Thank you so much for that! If it wasn't near the end of the school year, I'd print it out and put it in my locker. heart

It was entertaining. I like that unlike most of the things based on Austen writing, Wickham was explained and not just evil.

Yes...and it was done in such a way that made not only him pure evil, but it made Georgiana more of an interesting character, too.
Great quote about Wickham: "You hear that, Wickham? NUHNUHNUHNUH! That's Jane Austen spinning in her grave like a cat in a tumble dryer!"

I finally got my happy ending from "Lost in Austen: Create Your Own Jane Austen Adventure"! I got the real ending from Pride and Prejudice with Mr. Darcy! Being the cheat I am, I admit that I failed countless times while reading the book, and just went back to the page before to choose the other option. These are my four favorite unhappy endings [highlight]:

1. Fanny Price's white attic is inside Northanger Abbey, and choosing to go through the secret door in the library alone would lead you there. She would lock you up and never let you leave, so that the other Austen heroines would be able to have their happy endings instead of living in the shadow of the great Elizabeth Bennet...her general meekness smothers you to death. The End.

2. You accept Mr. Darcy's first proposal at Rosings. Unhappy with your marriage, you engage in an affair with Mr. Darcy's gardener, Robert Martin. It becomes public knowledge and you are both banished from Derbyshire. Your misery overwhelms your love for Mr. Martin and you soon take your life. The End.

3. Choosing to walk towards the woodland at Pemberley instead of the river, the gardener gives you an excellent tour, and on your way back to Lambton, you carriage is overturned by another. Out comes Miss Bingley, who shares with you her petty jealousies. Injured from falling out of your carriage, you cannot move. Miss Bingley returns to her own and runs you over. You soon die alone in the middle of the road while Caroline heads off to Pemberley. The End.

4. You accept Colonel Fitzwilliam's proposal, igniting the jealousy of Mr. Darcy and the anger of Lady Catherine. As her two nephews prepare to duel for your hand, she soons shoots you herself. As you fall to the ground, Darcy shoots his aunt in blind rage. As the colonel moves closer to you, Darcy shoots him as well. As you die, he shoots himself and falls on you. You are united in death as you could never be in life...Not exactly and happy ending. The End.

After my happy ending with Mr. Darcy, I'm trying again, this time to get Tom Lefroy. blaugh
I failed with both Wentworth and Tilney during my first try.

EDIT: Sadly, every possible ending with Mr. Lefroy ends horribly...You're either too poor, rich enough but too late, or you can just blatantly reject him. Figures, if Jane Austen can't have a happy ending, her readers certainly can't.
