I'm trying to keep the good old fandom alive, and so I decided to try writing a spin-off series. The story will focus around Yusuke once more, only now he's matured and has a family. The secondary focus will be on his children, Arisu Urameshi (daughter) and, as the story develops, Hiroshi Urameshi (son).

Let me start off by introducing his children to you.

Arisu Urameshi, age 15. Like all teenagers she goes to high school, but unlike her father has no problem attending classes, mostly due to her passion for being on the Swim Team. At the moment her entire life is focused around swimming for the team, and as a result her skin is a tad tanner than her non-athletic friends and family.
Arisu cut her shoulder-length black hair when she was 13 in order to get a short pixie cut hair style due to the fact that she believed that her longer hair was slowing her down in swimming. She usually doesn't bother fussing with it but will occasionally dress it up with a cute or elegant hair pin or bow.
People have said that Arisu has an "old soul", an expression that means she has wisdom beyond her years. Though she's a happy and for the most part well-adjusted girl, she tends to be more serious than her peers and often gives life advise to those younger and older than her. Her wisdom doesn't excuse her from being a typical teenager though, as she'll often get emotional and demanding when she encounters a problem of her own. She's prone to quick flashes of anger when irritated, which commonly is followed by frustrated tears and an, eventual, apology. When she feels she's being too over-whelmed by responsibilities or stress, she often unintentionally makes the situation worse by swimming away her worries and ignoring the problems in her life. For all of her seemingly matured knowledge, she still struggles with the ever changing emotions and insecurities of being 15.
If you asked Arisu's friends or family, they would tell you that at the moment she doesn't have any love life and hasn't dated in roughly a year. Unfortunately, they're unaware that for about 4 months Arisu's love life has been jam-packed full with a light affair she's been having with her young High School history teacher, Mr.Takahashi, affectionately called Taka by Arisu. Though their relationship has yet to be made consummated or officially romantic, Arisu can often be found having lunch in his classroom and sneaking out of the house to spend time in his apartment. At age 24, Taka is a decent man who is aware of Arisu's feelings for him and the fact that he returns them, and though he's never discouraged her from coming to visit him, he's still uncertain as to what to do about their relationship. Their quality time together usually consists of doing difficult puzzles or watching movies. They've currently only kissed once, and have yet to talk about it.
Despite her father's demon heritage, Arisu is 100% human with the same light brown eyes as her mothers. She has never been in a situation where she needed to fight, but it can be assumed that her body is still physically fit due to her constant swimming.

Hiroshi Urameshi, age 5. He attends Kentaro Elementary school where his mother works. He has an obvious adoration for his father, but also seems to fully enjoy being babied by his mother. The majority of his time is taken up by his neighborhood friends and their secret club located in the nearby playground. His hair is a light brown, cut in a boyish style, and he too has his mothers brown eyes.
His favorite food is anything chicken, and he's only just starting to get out of the Cootie phase, though he still won't hold hands with little Miyuki from his class, a water demon who appears to have a crush on him.
Usually very sweet-tempered, Hiroshi's family has very rarely ever had to discipline him. For the most part, he never throws a tantrum, instead taking to a clever way of pouting and making adults feel guilty to get his way. His favorite spot in the whole house is his mothers lap, where he often sits and tells stories or falls asleep.
Overall, Hiroshi has displayed the characteristics of a normal little boy, though there are times where he seems to show mysterious bouts of physical strength...

Since Hiroshi is so young, his role and character development are decently small for now. He probably won't become a major aspect until midway through the fanfic.

Well, what do you guys think? Any suggestions on my OC's, does the story sound interesting to you?

I've never really been one for these types of fan fics, but you've definately have made interesting characters that are not at all typical children of the great Spirit Detective Yusuke, and I think it's pretty cool how you set it up.

Sure, give it a go. : D Keep me updated.

I also don't generally care for the "getting old and having kids" fics, but your OCs sound interesting. One question! Is this based off of the anime ending, or the manga ending? Because they're extremely different. ^^ Otherwise, I think you should go for it.

It's definitely based off the manga ending 3nodding Thank you! I know that a lot of people are a little iffy when it comes to Future Yu Yu Hakusho, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to pull it off and give YYH fans something to really enjoy!

It'll be a challenge, but I think you can conquer it, I mean, for one, you actually took it to heart to come on here and ask about what us fellow YYH fans thought. ^^

You know, it's funny; I came back to this thread (trying to avoid writing, I guess) thinking that I had never posted in it. Obviously I did, but I'd like to reiterate my initial point.

As a rule, there are some fanfictions that I do not read, including real people fics, anything that bashes homosexuals/characters/things I care about, and "main characters' offspring" fics.

BUT. Reading this again, I'm more enthusiastic about your characters and plot. This sounds really interesting, especially the plot part, and double especially if Yusuke and Keiko and the rest of the gang get big parts alongside the new generation. I would love to read this when you're done. biggrin

Oh, definitely! As my basic rule of thumb for this type of story, the cannon characters are always, always the main spot light. My characters will have less "screen time" than the cannon ones, but will slowly get introduced and shown depth to their personalities, their own wants and desires and fears.

I'm also very excited to begin writing Yusuke as a father...if you think he kicked a** before...just wait until some demon starts messing with his kids! XD

LOVE this. <3 Sadly, I don't write like this, I don't know. It just seems like a rule of thumb that an OCxCanon romance has to have a major focus on the OC. (shrugs) But that is so awesome! I think in all other circumstances, the main characters should have the spotlights. : )

I have struggled with this a lot, too. I've managed to get a few scenes in some of my ReaderXCanon fanfictions that focus solely on the canon characters, but if the reader or OC is the main character, it's almost impossible to avoid giving her/him the spotlight for me.
