... {♥ the past}

... It was only high school; the drama, the cliques, the good-for-nothing education. But it was peaceful, easy; no matter how much anyone complained.
And they loved each other.
Ian Williams and Naomi Elppa were inseperable They were the couple everyone loved, the couple everyone thought would stay together forever. They were crazy and nice, and totally different. When everything ended, people were shocked. She broke up with him and they started to feud. To this day, no one really knows what caused the bitter split, but hey, it's high school; rumors were bound to emerge.

...High school is a battlefield. The old drama is only child's play, the cliques have been divided into those who fight and those who sit on the sidelines, and the education is only a mean of revenge. Everything has changed.
And it's all because they hate each other.
Ian and Naomi are the worst of enemies, and they've brought the whole school into their mess. There are those who stand on Naomi's side, those who stand on Ian's side, and those that are neutral. Don't be fooled, most neutral students are sneaky, working in the background and pulling strings for each group for their own benefit. The authorities will try and stop the fighting, but some have been rumored to prefer a certain side as well, although they will deny it if asked.
Although it started out like any other high school drama, the feud has blown out of proportions. Notes passed in classrooms are never just gossip, when a jock talks to a goth in private, it isn't for the quick fix of drugs, and when teachers converse in their lounge it's always about the students. Ian and Naomi have started a school-wide war, where sabotage, cheating, and even violence are fair game...

It was a brand new day. Naomi inhaled the October morning air as she got off of the bus, looking around at the familiar and not so familiar faces scattered here and there in front of the school. It was a relatively large school; the building itself was impressive, but the landscaping around it even greater. Even as she looked now, there were students clad in their fall attire, sitting and conversing under the many trees and on the green grass. It was a perfect location for Naomi to catch up on anything she missed over the weekend. Not that she missed much. Due to her little feud, the friends and classmates that sided with her kept her pretty updated on any suspicious activities, and just plain gossip, too.

Shoving her hands into the pockets of her red sweatshirt, Naomi made her way over to a group of students sitting on the grass. She knew most of them, but a couple of them she didn’t recognize; freshmen, most likely. Sitting down, she said her hellos, introduced herself to the two students she didn’t know, and made small conversation for a while before departing and jumping to another group of friends she knew. Her usual beginning to the day; it was strategy and simple friendly nature at its best.

Of course, there were those who weren’t so friendly, those who chose to be on Ian’s side and the school’s usual sourpusses. Naomi made a point to smirk at them if they looked at her. Nothing but some friendly competition, right? Class wouldn’t start for a few minutes, and Naomi’s honey-brown eyes searched the school grounds for a particular fashionable girl. She was probably planning to be fashionably late to school, as well. In her scanning, she hadn’t seen a few other key people either, one of them being Ian. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, as they say,’ she thought.

There was a certain subject that Naomi had yet to talk to her fellow conspirators about, and that was the upcoming holiday. Halloween was only in a week, give or take a few days, and, being the greatest day for pranks, there was scheming to be done. Knowing Aries, she’d probably be more concerned about their costumes, but she knew how to get down to business when needed… “Where is she?

Trinity moaned slightly in her sleep as harsh light cut across her face while she lay between a man and women she vaguely remembered from a college party the night before. From the bits and pieces that she did remember, it had been one hell of a time and she had no regrets, never did for that matter. Slipping quietly out of the bed she found her clothes scattered across the room and was leaving when her manners stopped her. With a smile she applied some lip stick and kissed the mirror writing under it ‘Do it again?’ and her cell phone number. She wasn’t picky if they called, there were other people she could be with but it was nice to have someone around who didn’t turn away at the thought of her going both ways. She was called Trix for a reason and a content smile played across her features as she left the apartment complex straddling the midnight black Kawasaki Vulcan that she loved so dearly.

Approaching her own home, the old Victorian loomed like storm upon the horizon despite the pristine lawn and fresh white paint. It looked like an over sized doll house and it made her sick but none the less she parked and went inside to shower. Almost half an hour later she stood in front of a mirror examining the damage. Marks of possession traced their way down the smooth porcelain skin of her neck and her slender wrists had some faint bruising. It had been worse before. Shrugging her shoulders, she applied black eye liner to her already dark almond shaped eyes using a deep blood burgundy for her pouting lips. Then it was time for clothes and since school wasn’t looking like much fun a smile slipped back into place as she donned a lacey black bra and pulled a net top over it that would never be decent on a woman as it flowed over her curves falling short on covering her midriff. For pants she chose a pair of army uniform that hung low on her hips revealing just the edges of a black lace bikini style bottom before lacing up a pair of thigh high black leather boots.

Grabbing her messenger bag from the couch she used a black silk scarf to tie up her even darker hair before seizing the helmet and headed off once more to her own personal hell of school. Trix was looking for a new suitor but she wasn’t looking at the school. The outfit wasn’t to attract their looks, it was for herself but it did get the attention she wanted from the people she wanted after hours at colleges and bars. Parking up, the girl took the helmet off locking it to the Kawasaki examining the grounds for the person she sought. This was one of the dullest places she had been. The war was amusing but not in the way she wanted. It was the teachers that disappointed her. Either they were prudes or they had been warned about the reason for her previous expulsion. Whatever the reason, it put a damper on her ways but there was also the one she respected to a certain degree. Pushing off she threw the bag over her shoulder ignoring the looks and some whispered words of those who called her a slut. Sluts flaunted with no reward, Trix made good on what she offered and never hid the fact she would sleep with just about anyone and it would take a lot to make her a one person girl. But none of that mattered as she made her way across the lawn wishing for a cup of coffee.

While students roamed and chatted with other students, most didn’t go near this particular group. They were like a black cloud hovering near the building, and few were daring enough to venture close to the resentful, cold faces. The coldest expression belonged to the senior named Nissa. Clad in her almost entirely black clothing, her dark gaze narrowed at any who passed. She crossed her net-covered arms over the black corset that exposed quite a bit of her pale chest, wiggling her labret around with her tongue in boredom.

Nissa’s heavily made-up eyes glanced over at Pagan, her boyfriend of sorts. She snorted gruffly as she watched him make an exchange. He was rattling on about some television show he watched about the end of the world and what would cause it. Nissa never could understand his willingness to start up a conversation with anyone who so much as mentioned a topic that interested him. It was a mystery she would never comprehend.

In the meantime, Nissa leaned farther back against the brick structure, once again resorting to shooting daggers at her disliked peers.. Figuratively, of course. Though it wasn’t beyond her to do such a thing. It didn’t take long to spot Naomi out of the crowd, especially with her dark pink hair. Figures she’d be whoring herself out to every group of people here. She’s been doing it for years now.. she thought with resentment. In her aggravation, Nissa popped open her lighter and closed it a few times, each time the breeze sending the flame closer and closer to her thumb and gloved knuckles.

Pleasure,” Pagan nodded to the kid, watching him walk a couple steps in the opposite direction before turning to Nissa. Smirking, he watched her click her silver lighter opened and closed, quickly snatching it out of her hands. The fact that she didn’t react wasn’t a good sign. Following her gaze, Pagan spotted the reason for her stoic anger. “Her again?” he asked knowingly. There was no use for him to tell her to get over it, he knew how long she could keep a grudge.

After a couple minutes of her silence, he set his own sights on a different girl who was making her way into school. “And there goes Trix” he smirked, talking to nobody in particular, but he knew that the statement would get Nissa’s attention. She turned to look at the questionably dressed girl, and turned to punch Pagan hard on the arm. Turning back, she smirked, “You know I saw her first.” Tugging her against him by the straps on her skirt, Pagan put his nose in her raven black hair, “Sharing is caring.

Giving up hopes of coffee falling from the skies she turned instead to her back up plan. The pack of Kool light 100’s in her back pocket. Fishing them out she searched for her lighter a scowl crossing her features when it was no where to be found putting yet another damper on her day. Schools were supposed to be smoke free, then again Trix was also supposed to go to class, study, take tests, and dress decently; everyone could see how well that turned out. On her last chemistry test she had used the hour to intricately draw out a threesome across the page before turning it in, one of her many talents that she refused to put toward in use during an art class. Trix had more study halls than anyone else and her actual classes she rarely did the work even if she knew it all.

Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, she didn’t particularly want to be on a rage. Not at the moment anyway. Her mood was known to change without notice but for the time she was calm and relatively harmless in this mode, another added bonus of her being this way was she was probably unarmed but to say for sure would be harmed. Rules were an inconvenience and following them didn’t seem to ever be on her agenda when the small flame caught her eye. Changing her direction she caught the last bit about sharing is caring and couldn’t help but smirk, Trix shared people on a nightly basis, “Who you sharing I might want in.” Indicating her cigarette with a slight hand gesture, she wanted a light and she knew at least one of them was guaranteed to have a source of fire.

Putting his glasses back into place on the bridge of his nose, Ian's blue eyes turned once again to scanning the area. He had spotted Naomi as soon as she had gotten off of the bus but had lost her. He had the fairly safe assumption that she hadn't spotted him yet for one of two reasons. One, he blended in with the crowd more than she did and two, his spot was more or less hidden. But then again, he had stopped putting things past her long ago.
He had to peer through clusters of leaves, but he finally spotted her. Letting out a contented sigh he leaned back to the base of the tree he was sitting in. He turned back, making a mental note as to where she was. He let his legs dangle on either side of the branch that served as his seat and leaned his head back, letting the top of his hat rest against the bark.
A bit of chit-chat from below him caught his attention and he glanced down. A small group of sophomores had gathered under the tree and were chatting, completely unaware of his presence, or at least as far as he could tell. He smirked to himself, catching bits of their conversation. They definitely didn't know he was there. He chuckled quietly to himself before looking back up at the growing crowd of school-goers.
Having such long legs had benefited Ian on numerous accounts. The fact that he could climb trees with the ease that he was able was one of them. Then again, that also came from all the times he had done it as a boy. He had never really been one to just sit around. Well, unless he had something to do when sitting.

((Heh...I think maybe mine's a bit long...and maybe I got a bi carried away. Oh well. For those who want to skip most of it, they don't really begin to interact with other characters until about...the 3rd to last paragraph...XD It was fun, lol!!))

Tempest rolled onto her side and blinked groggily at the clock beside her bed, automatically tuning out the blaring, rhythmic groaning of the alarm. She sighed and reached out to shut the thing off, pressing the off button firmly. She lay there for a moment, neatly buried beneath a heavy comforter and two sets of 300-count sheets, before pushing the blankets off and sitting up, her feet brushing lightly against the cold wooded floors.

She moved quickly then, grabbing a knee-length blue jean skirt, white, long-sleeved button-up shirt and a black short vest to go over it, before walking over to the bathroom she shared with Calli. Her shower was quick as she wasted no time. Within 30 minutes she was out, dressed and ready to go to school. Glancing down at her watch, Tempi nodded to herself, pleased. It was only 4:30.

Walking over to the adjoining door leading to Calli's room. Just as her's was, the floor and room were spotless, the walls lined with books and CD's. She moved slowly and quietly across the floor wondering about her sister as she listened to the alarm's music blare across the room. How was it possible to sleep through such racket? But it never failed. Despite how many time's Calli had set her alarm under her sister's watchful eye, she's managed to sleep through it and only get up when Tempest went to wake her.

Tempi stood beside the bed, staring down at her sister and wondered not for the first time if they were really twins. As neat and analytical as she was, Calli was almost completely different from her. Calli's room was clean only because the maids cleaned it, her chores down only because Tempest was constantly reminding her to do them. And now, she was tangled in her sheets, her dark brown comforter pulled closer to her body, a leg wrapped around it, her vibrantly dyed magenta hair tangled and trapped around her. Tempi shook her head before reaching down and nudging her sister, prodding her into wakefulness.

Calypso groaned and buried her face in the blanket she was wrapped around, the only thing stopping her from rolling away the firm grip on her shoulder. She hated being woken up. Absolutely couldn't stand it. And if it had been any other person she probably would have sat up and socked the person. She'd been told she had a mean right hook.

As Tempi continued to shake her Calli finally let go of her blankets and rolled towards her sister, lying on her back as she stared up at her mirror image. The music was loud beside her ear and she slammed her fist down on the snooze button, taking her annoyance out on the innocent noise maker. A yawn glided its way out of her mouth and she rubbed at her eyes before once again looking up at Tempest, knowing she had the same bored look as her twin. "I'm up."

Again Tempi nodded. "You have 3 hours to get ready. I'll print your report after I finish mine." She left the room then, leaving Calli to stare up at the glow-in-the-dark constellations on the ceiling.

Calli rolled back onto her side and studied the shelf across from her bed. There were more CD's than books and she knew Tempi was the opposite of her, preferring silence in just about any situation. But Calli couldn't stand the quiet; it was entirely too loud in and of itself. It drove her nuts. It was also the only reason her sister had all the music she did on her iPod. Calli absolutely refused to let her sister be deprived of the good stuff, like Hoobastank, Montely Crue and 2Pac and Rodney Adkins. There had to be a good bit of variety, there just had to be. If not, it ruined everything!

Her thoughts drifted to school and the war. She really didn't particularly care what it was about so long as it continued to provide her with entertainment. It had been a while since she and Tempi had been asked to pull a prank; it had been a good one though, especially since both Elppa and Williams requested the same prank pulled on the opposing party. Of course, they were both pretty mad at her. They didn't exactly know how far Tempi had been involved and Calli liked to keep it that way. So did Tempi. She wondered when the dueling pair was going to request another prank from them. She was getting bored watching them have all the fun. But, deleting them both from the school rosters, names, info grades and all, had been the most entertaining, especially after spreading a rumor around school that not only were they back together but they were both moving away as well. Of course, the rumors had been all Tempi's idea, her own little spin on the prank but the entertainment value? Priceless! Of course, the two had known it was them, but seeing the wide-spread confusion around the campus as students from both sides hesitantly started speaking again? God, it had been so worth the anger and the detention she'd gotten.

They both should have known though. It wasn't like she and Tempi were freshman, new to the scene or whatever. Hah! As if! They should have known from the beginning that the two of them weren't going to be able to separate her and her sister.

Calli glanced at the clock again and wasn't surprised to see the time had already passed to about 6:15. She was more awake now and taking that as a sign she could focus, she kicked her sheets off and crawled out of bed. From her dresser she pulled out a pair of low-rise faded blue jeans, a burgundy long-sleeved t-shirt that stopped at her mid-drift and a black vest. Walking to the bathroom, she set her clothes down and hit the shower. A good 45 minutes passed before she was out and dressed and even then she still wasn't done. Pulling a stool up to the vanity across from the shower, she grabbed her blow-dryer and set to work on her long hair, using a round brush to make sure it came out straight when it was done. It took her another 20 minutes to do that and by then it was time to go. Slipping on her black tennis-shoes, she walked into Tempest's room.

"All set. You ready?"

Tempi glanced up from the computer screen and nodded slightly, still typing as she spoke. "Almost. I went ahead and printed yours." She turned back to the screen then and nodded toward the printer, where about five pages sat. As Calli picked up the papers, Tempi hit the print button and stood. She walked over to her closet and pulled on a pair of black flats, her favorite pair. Once her report was done she grabbed the papers and slipped them into her messenger bag.

Once they were both set and ready, they left the house, each going to their separate cars. Tempi to her sensible silver Volvo and Calli to her sporty dark blue Jeep.

Driving was the one thing Tempest wasn't careful about as she sped through the streets, going at least 10 over the limit. But then they lived a good 30 minutes from the school. Yet she always managed to make it to the campus in half the time, her speed driving more than enough to get her their quickly. And almost always Calli was right behind her. Their Father always hated driving with them and with their Mother; she was the same way.

As always they went their separate ways, both of them having their own routine. Tempest usually went to hang with the goth crowd and today was no different. She slowly made her away across the uneven ground to sit across from Trinity, Nissa and Pagen, nodding silently. "Good Morning." Her words were quiet as she spoke to them, her usual in the morning. For reasons she couldn't understand, she was never fully awake until around 11 in the morning or later. Most people knew that and therefore didn't expect much of anything from her in the mornings. It was still minutely amusing to see if they would try though. She wondered if that was ever going to lose it's entertainment value.

She glanced at Trix and smiled slightly at the outfit, one of her few rare smiles. Only Trix could get away with such an outfit and make it look good.

Calli watched her sister walk off before sliding out of her own car and looking around Campus. Students milled around like lambs to the slaughter, hating the fact they had to go to school in the first place, not to mention the whole getting up early. She partly agreed with that. Naomi was easy to spot, her dark hair and friendly, charismatic appearance pointing her out on the crowded campus. Ian not so much. If it weren't for her own well-honed sense of hiding and escaping, of knowing all the places one could be unseen, she wouldn't have spotted him in the tree. But spot him she did and cheerfully made her way over. She was tempted to climb the tree, to force her way next to him, after all, what better way to get a conversation started than to give the other party no choice? It would have been even more fun if she sneaked up on him. But she pushed that thought aside, as appealing as it was. Might as well give the guy a break. She stared up at him, a small, playful smile on her lips. "Can't imagine why you've been so mad at me lately."

The group that had gathered around the tree Ian was in looked over to Calli when she approached. Confused, they quickly realized who she was talking to. One of the girls turned such a dark shade of red it almost looked as if her head would pop. She ran off faster than it looked possible with her short legs. The others quickly followed.
Ian ignored the commotion and just looked down to Calli. It figured she would find him when no one else had. He really needed to get her on his side of things.
"Conspiring with the enemy, perhaps?" he said, crossing his arms across his chest in mock anger. "You say you're so neutral in this whole thing but I say that it's just an excuse to get equal shares from both parties." His tone and the way he talked, most would think that he was completely serious. That wasn't entirely false, he did wish that Calli would pick sides. Preferably his side. But he couldn't say that he was angry with the girl. She was agreeable and Ian had a way of getting along with just about everyone. Unless of course he honestly hated their guts. Then they generally knew it.
"But if you stand there talking to me for long enough, I'll be discovered," he added after a moment, bringing his forefinger up to his lips. "Unless you just usually stand around talking to trees."
He gave her a wink at his last sentence.

Humming as he strolled casually through his classroom, Logan, or Mr. Sykes as he was known by his students, grabbed a stack of papers off of a shelf. He let the bottoms fall onto the counter top lightly as he stacked them neatly. He glanced at the top paper, a 91% written in red marker on the front.
He worked hard to get tests and papers graded quickly so the students didn't have to wonder what they got. And also so that they could work to bring their grads up if they had to. Then again, most of his students were doing pretty well in the class anyway. It was the beginning of the year, after all. They had plenty of time yet to screw it up. But he also hated procrastinating. When it came to some things, he didn't mind it as much. But when it came to grading, he tried to get it done as quickly as possible.
He held the stack of papers at his side as he went back to his desk. It wasn't a typical teacher's desk like most of the other teachers in the school had. It was slightly taller with a hard counter top above it so he could hold demonstrations in the front of the class rather than having to go back to the lab. He didn't have to do many in his biology classes, though, but it was still useful for entertaining his students.
He was a reasonable teacher and allowed plenty of time for general entertainment in his class. If they got ahead in their curriculum, he was perfectly willing to let them have a movie day or make flaming bubbles.

Calli grinned at his statement before looking around at the other students. They really did scatter like a bunch of rats from a cat. Turning back to the tree, she gave it an appreciative look before jumping, wrapping her arms around the trunk and springing backward to catch onto the branch across from Ian. Carefully and quickly she swung herself backwards and up, pulling a move she hadn't used in ages to land in a crouch on the branch.

Turning to Ian again, she sat and tucked her legs under her, careful to remain still lest she lose her balance. She grinned again. "Well, I do talk to tree's when they house people who have been avoiding me." She raised a brow and continued, "But that's besides the point." Tilting her head to the side, she turned her eyes to follow Naomi, watching her with an almost predatory gleam before she turned the same glance to Ian. "Of course, I've told you before. I'll pick a side as soon as I learn what started this tiny war of yours."

She raised her eyes to the branches above them, an almost contemplative look on her face before she brought her eyes back to him once again. "But then..." She leaned forward another wicked grin on her pretty face. "You run the risk I might chose her over you, isn't that right?"

Ian grinned and leaned forward towards Calli.
"My lips....are sealed," he said, his word coming slowly to add drama.
He had refused to tell anyone what had started their war. There was only one person, beside Naomi that he knew of who knew the reason. And he wasn't telling either.
He had grown tired of people asking him the reason they had broken up and then started fighting. He had sworn not to tell and he wasn't about to go back on it. But everyone seemed so curious. He was surprised no one had made anything up yet.
"And I'm well aware of that," he added, leaning back against the tree. "I trust that you're smart enough to know which side is better, though. I think you have enough intelligence to know that I'm obviously the best side to pick. Besides, you're not particularly good friend with Naomi, right? You don't have any real commitments to her. If you chose her over me, I think you'd hurt my feelings."
