For 10 years now I have been a Chef. I have a culinary degree, have worked in a 4 star restaurant, worked in a banquet hall (Which I really suggest if you want to be a chef, you will learn a lot), Cafe/Delis, been a private chef(which almost every chef has done, it really is not impressive), standard restaurants, and currently assisted living facility. During that time I have meet all types of cooks. Recently I have meet a lot of people who went to culinary school but never finshed or could not find a job. After 10 years I do not remember why. When I first started I heard the common line "Everyone needs to eat", which is why most supermarkets do not close, that did not influnece me. Almost everyday I research new recipes or try learn new ways to cook. I guess this ramble is all about What makes some one want to be Chef?

The same thing that makes birds fly: instinct. It's just who and what we are.
If you weren't in the industry as a professional, you'd still cook, read, plan, and obsess over food. Some people draw, some people make music, some people write, some people build. We cook.
It's just what we do. Everyone needs to eat...but WE need to COOK.
