((Closed to Simbaza Unabii and Airi))

Airi slowly crept out from under the bush where she'd been sleeping, her little mouth wide open in a yawn. The sun was already high overhead, but it wasn't unusual for the cub to take a nap now and then. Shaking out her fur, she wondered what she would do that day. Such thoughts were odd for one as young as her, but it wasn't her fault she had to live on her own.

Suppressing another yawn, she felt a sudden growl snarl from her stomach. She pressed an ear back in embarrassment and looked around, hoping no one had heard it, but the plains seemed to be empty. It wasn't her fault she was so hungry; she just wasn't such a great hunter, what with her big and clumsy paws and her small build. She could barely take down a rabbit, and that was only if she got lucky enough to get close to one. Usually she just scavenged off kills made by other lions.

Shaking her head slightly, she stretched, enjoying the feeling of her small muscles rippling beneath her no-longer-quite-so-neat pelt. She couldn't help it if she'd been forced to live alone, that was life for her. At least I get to explore and play as much as I want! she thought to herself.

Time... Time was weird for Simbaza Unabii, who lived as if part of his life was in the present, part of it was in the past, and part of it was in the future. Split into thirds, he wasn't quite as normal as someone who just lived in the past, or in the present. No, he was an oddity on the plains, but that was okay by him. The lion in question stretched as he woke from his own little nap, a horrific thing foretelling of doom and destruction and cubs fighting for the good of the-- His stomach growled, pulling him out of the vision he had so easily swam into. "Ugh, I hear you, knock it off." He smacked his belly with a paw, snorting, and shook off the dust that had settled on his coat during his nap.

"Alright, alright, we'll find something to eat." Yawning again, he left his cave and started running through the plains, sniffing for the all-too-enjoyable scent of a fresh kill, or perhaps an ill animal to take advantage of. As he wandered farther and farther from his safe little den, he began to slow to a walk. Enjoying the good weather and the rare time when he was totally in the present and not flung into the past or future.

After a little while, a scent did hit his nose, but it wasn't one of prey or meat. It was a lion, for certain, though since he couldn't see them he couldn't be certain what kind of lion it was. And ever the curious male, he sought out to find out what it was. Following the scent, he soon came upon a small lion. A cub! Overjoyed by the prospect of a new friend, he grinned and picked up the pace. As soon as he was close enough, he called out to the cub.

"Hey! Hey!"

Airi jumped slightly as she heard a voice behind her. She spun around, fur rising slightly as a small growl worked it's way up her throat. She'd heard tales of weird lions, ones who didn't follow the lovely Zahina. They were supposed to be violent and cruel, and would probably hurt her if they saw her. As soon as she saw the familiar shape of a male lion's mane, she let her fur relax. He was no more Da'lin than she was.

She lifted her tail and waved it in a friendly gesture, the growl dying in her throat before it could escape. She scampered towards the shape, large tail flowing out behind her and small paws lumbering clumsily against the uneven ground. she pulled up to a halt a few paces in front of the lion and looked up. Tilting her head to one side, she observed him. His mane was tricolored, which looked pretty cool to the cub, and he had bright blue eyes that stood out brightly from the rest of him. His tail was pure black, which also looked a little odd.

"Hi!" The cub purred, sitting down calmly, "M'name's Airi. What's yours?" Her voice sounded a little small, but had a curious tone to it. She was very open to strangers, more open than most would be, but didn't really think of it as a bad thing. Suddenly, she stomach snarled again and she dropped her head slightly in shame, flicking one ear back. "Sorry." she mumbled.

Simbaza blinked and slowed in his approach when he heard the little lion growl, and instead of being frightened, or wary, he just split into a wide grin and plopped down where he'd stopped, tail twitching to and fro behind him. He was certainly no threat, though he couldn't possibly be aware that's what she'd thought when she heard him. It was simply a very good guess. He was good at those.

And then the cub was waving her tail like another limb, and scampering over, which made Simbaza grin all the wider. He practically beamed as she came over, and bobbed his head to her. "Hi!" He replied, just as enthused as she was. It wasn't at all mocking; he was glad for her company. Cubs were few and far between in meeting, and usually they had parents which never did bode well for the poor guy. But she seemed to be all alone and instead of pity, he felt a sort of kinship with her. Two lone wanderers in this great wide plain.

"I am Simbaza Unabii," he said with a solemn nod, grinning again afterwards. "But you can call me Simbaza if you like. Or Unabii. Or Simba! I'm not picky." And he really wasn't. Nicknames meant they were friends, and he did so love having a friend or two for a short while. His rambling was cut short before it could start again when he heard the tiny tummy rumble, and he laughed a little, shaking his head. "It's okay, mine does that too sometimes." He said, hopping up. "We should find something to eat!" That was a brilliant idea, wasn't it? Of course it was!

Airi couldn't help but break into a smile at the way he was acting, she liked this lion already. No other lion had as of yet treated her like one of them, she was just a child to their eyes. She listened curiously as he said his name, "Simba-za Oonabee?" She tried to sound it out slowly, before shaking her head slightly, "Simba's a nice name." She stated, giving up on trying to pronounce his name.

At the thought of food, her stomach almost growled again. "Your stomach growls too?" She pondered it for a second, "I though it was just another silly habit cubs have. Whatever a habit is, that is. My mama used to say I had lots of 'silly habits'." She tilted her head to one side for a second, blue eyes concentrating fiercely.

Suddenly, she jumped up onto her paws. "That sounds like a good idea!" She smiled happily again, trying to smell for any prey at the same time. All she could smell was lion. Suddenly, a small butterfly flew past her face. She blinked in surprise for a second, before crouching and slowly creeping up on it, paw after paw. The butterfly didn't even move, until Airi suddenly pounced with a playful growl and caught it gently beneath her paw, before letting it go again.

He grinned a little. "It is a bit of a mouthful, innit." He said sheepishly, shrugging his shoulders at her. It was a long name, but it was his and it had a meaning, which made it all the more special. At least to him. Besides, what was he gonna do? Trade it in for something simpler? Pffft. He got up and shook himself off again, grinning at the cub in front of him.

"All stomachs growl." He nodded, amused. "And everyone has silly habits. Even I do. In fact, especially I do. I'm a walking talking silly habit." He grinned wide again, bouncing from one paw to the next just to showcase his silly habit. When Airi jumped up, he jumped back and blinked owlishly, then grinned. "Well of course it does!" Because it was, because he thought of it, so naturally it was an awesome idea. Or a bad one. He was never a lion for middle ground...

He watched her pounce after the butterfly with a small smile, and shook his head. "That's hardly a meal fit for a warrior." He said seriously, making a very serious face to show his point. And then it was gone and the grin was back. "C'mon, I bet we can find something huge. Like an elephant! You think we could take down an elephant?" He tilted his head, thoughtfully.

Airi giggled slightly as he bounced from paw to paw. He was odd for a grown lion, but she found him fun and interesting. "I wanna be a silly habit too!" She exclaimed, attempting to mimic him by jumping from one paw to another, until she ended up falling on the floor with a slight "Oof." She picked herself up from the ground and quickly shook herself, watching as specks of dust flew off her. "Now I'm a silly, dusty habit!" She exclaimed.

Looking after the butterfly as it flew away, she pulled a face, suddenly uninterested at it. At the mention of an elephant, she sat as straight up as she could, "An elephant? Really? I bet we could! That would be so cool! I bet no other cubs ever got to hunt an elephant." She began to bounce around on her paws again, from excitement this time. "Let's go now!" She began to skip around him in small circles. She may have been hungry, but she still found endless energy from some hidden reserve.

Another grumble from her stomach made her stop. She raised her head and slowly scented the air like she'd been taught to do. She could smell lots of things now she was focusing, like the grass and the wind as well as herself and Simba. There was a very very faint scent of antelope in the air, which made her mouth water on the spot.

He sneezed dramatically when she proclaimed herself to be a dusty habit, and grinned, shaking his head. "I think I'm allergic to silly dusty habits." He said solemnly, eyes dancing with mischief. He was teasing her!

Simbaza nodded again, frowning thoughtfully. "I bet no other lions ever got to hunt down an elephant. Maybe we should start smaller and work our way up." He mused. Although he hid it well, Simbaza didn't want to go putting Airi into danger for the sake of a good time. Any other lion? Sure. A cub? Definitely not. He grinned a little when he heard the grumble. "It sounds like your belly can't wait on us to hunt down some big ol' elephant anyway." He added, sniffing slowly. He glanced over at her, and smiled a little.

"What do you smell, Airi?"

Grinning, Airi stopped. "It would'a been cool though." Her tail still lashed about in excitement and her eyes shone brightly. A proper hunt! She'd only really practiced before, and caught very small game. "My belly likes being a silly habit, and I don't think it could wait that long." She agreed, half echoing him, her face alight in anticipation.

Tentatively, she gave the air another sniff just to make sure her assumptions were correct. They were. Trying to show off a little, her small nose tried to distinguish where the scent came from. She had no idea how to figure that out, but she guessed it was from where the smell was stronger. Pointing in the direction with her tail (it was quite handy for things like that), she dropped her voice down a bit. "I think I smell antelope from over there."

Her face was scrunched up in concentration, making her look quite silly, but she stood absolutely still for once. Her first proper hunt without her parents-this was something she'd never screw up.

"Oh, for sure." Simba grinned, amused at the idea. Maybe he would go hunt down an elephant one day. A big fat one that he could live off for days. That sounded pretty swell. Of course, he'd probably have to find some other lions crazy enough to try it, but that was easy enough when he had the chance. He did like a challenge. "I have to agree. My stomach's quite ornery over waiting." He said, looking out at the land around them to try and see something. He saw nothing, there was nothing close enough, but little Airi had been sniffing. Something had to be close enough to smell.

"Antelope, huh?" Simbaza inhaled through his nose, sorting through the scents this way and that until he picked up the very antelope the cub had found before he did. He nodded, grinning. "Sounds good to me." He said, looking over at her. "You've hunted before, right?" He tilted his head at her, already crouching a bit in place. If not, he'd bring something back on his own, but if she thought she could do it... Hey. It was a learning experience. Even he appreciated those.

"Orn-" Airi's face scrunched up as she attempted to say the word. "Ornry?" No. Not quite right. "Ornary? Ornery?" That was a new word. Just like Simba's name, not that she'd ever managed to get that. Her stomach let rip another loud growl, spreading quickly through the surroundings. "Silly, ornary habit." She said, pondering if she'd gotten the word right. No. She probably hadn't. Shrugging the matter off, she bounced onto her toes, unable to keep still.

The word 'antelope' sent her mouth watering. With a quick flick of her over-sized tail, she dismissed his statement, although the mischievous spark in her eyes gave everything away. "Of course I've hunted before!" She dropped her body low into a playfully crouch. "See?" Tensing her muscles, she pushed off from the ground and, in a rather clumsy manner, landed on his tail.

"Let's go, before I eat your tail." She teased, sticking her tongue out at the God.
