I recently posted a picture I drew of one of my original characters in the Arena, and I figured it would be cool if I posted it here, so that I might see what my fellow guild members thought of it. I'm looking forward to some interesting comments and, hopefully, some constructive criticism.

This character's name is Karn. I created him for a roleplay I started with a close friend of mine nearly 10 years ago involving canon characters and story elements from Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo, and an assortment of other animes that aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami block back in the day. He was originally conceived as something of a cross between Outlaw Star's Aisha Clanclan and Tenchi Muyo's Ryoko. He's evolved quite a bit since then, but he has essentially remained the same.

Karn was created by the Ctarl-Ctarl Empire using the same techniques that Washu used to create Ryoko as a response to repeated attacks by Ryoko on Ctarl-Ctarl territories. He has all the powers of the Ctarl-Ctarl, as well as the ability to emit incredible amounts of energy. He eventually broke free from the Empire and became a space pirate because he enjoys the impunity a life of crime can provide. Karn is bit of a psychopath who kills for the sake of killing. He's no genius, but he possesses a keen intelligence and a warped, sadistic sense of humor. He sometimes works as a terrorist-for-hire, spreading fear and causing chaos for his own personal amusement. He's more than willing to put his life on the line for a little fun, which results in reckless, self-destructive, seemingly suicidal behavior. He is driven by impulse and instinct.

If anyone's interested in coloring him or drawing their own rendition of him, I'd be very flattered. I'd also be willing to pay you Gaia gold for your efforts.

That being said, I invite everyone else to post pictures and profiles of their own original characters.

That is so cool! I heart Aisha Clanclan from Outlaw Star, as well as Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo! blaugh

Actually I love all the old Cartoon Network Toonami cartoons. I used to have so much fun watching them with my siblings at home and then talking about them with my classmates at school. Outlaw Star and Tenchi in Tokyo were two of my favorites (besides DBZ), and Aisha and Ryoko were my favorite female characters from their respective animes. I liked the tough girls who could get down and dirty, while my sister prefered their more "graceful and elegant" counterparts, Twilight Shizuka and Princess Aeka. (Needless to say, we often argued over who was better. xd )

Anyways, I think the fact that you have made such a well-drawn, well-made, and well-thought-out OC that was inspired by and combines many aspects of my favorite childhood heroines, as well as elements of other animes from my favorite childhood anime station, is nothing short of AWESOME!! blaugh blaugh blaugh

That being said, I have no drawing ability or original characters worth mentioning. sweatdrop

Thank you for your compliments. redface

I feel the exact same way. Although I have tried to develop Karn in unique and interesting ways, I've always wanted him to stand as a tribute to the Toonami block and the awesome animes that aired on it. After all, it was Toonami that introduced me to the wild and wonderful world of anime. 3nodding

Here's a chibi version of Karn that I'm quite proud of:

...Y-you drew that?

Give me your talent. burning_eyes

(Ahem, I'll be posting my OC's eventually, yush. Because I have many and love them to pieces...)

That is very nice work.
Cannon indeed oh boy. Is he near indestructible as the immortal Ctarl-Ctarl as well? I too would very much like to see your art piece digitally colored. It's too bad we can never keep Sir Langley here long. She pretty darn good.

Is this post going to be open to all original characters?
In a couple of months I should have some art work done.
I would love to share with everyone.

Yes, he is, partially because of his Ctarl-Ctarl heritage, and partially because of his molecular makeup, which renders him rather mutable. In his current incarnation, his powers are similar to those of the Captain in Hellsing (including his transformation). However, the only way you can kill him is by destroying his brain. biggrin

Yes, this thread is open to all original characters, Hellsing-related and non-Hellsing related. In fact, have a few more that I'll probably post, in time. 3nodding

The first one is "Cobalt Madness" which was the horrific end result of Phoenix Wright and Sonic the Hedgehog combining. In a battle between Robotnic, Phoenix and Co. unleashed a pretensious robot called "Cobalt Madness" out of it's original shell, it ended up helping the heroes before going back into it's original form.

The second is Kopiiester, which is Kopii's limit 0 release; it's the end result of Rip van Winkle, Mina, and various chimeratic DNA. I never got to the part where the monster rose; I lost my true interest in Hellsing half way thru the fiction ._.;

Hallo! I found my old anime pictures from middle school, so I do have some original characters after all! blaugh

Here's a rough sketch of my favorite one:

User Image

Her name is Mantis. She is an "Angel," or a biological weapon created from human gene splicing.

Her creation is an enigma. A criminally insane scientist (based off Dora Folk from Immortal Rain) stole samples from the biological weapons lab and impregnated a woman with them, but the "angel" she was carrying was a grotesque monster that ravished her to death at birth. Folk still insanely viewed it as his "child," though like all Angels it was biologically unstable, and grew at a chaotic rate so it only had a few weeks before its system would burn out. During its last combat mission the "Angel" was crushed to death--but out of its torn up belly emerged the cries of an ugly larva-like baby (top left corner):

User Image
(Angels aren't supposed to be able to reproduce, so even Folk couldn't account for the unexpected birth.)

As Mantis grows up she appears more "human," though her long insect-like appendages become more deadly and refined. Her top "arms" can fold like a praying mantis (hence the name), and can be used as a "guillotine", while her bottom two arms can eject powerful acid. On her own she has amazing strength, speed, agility, reflexes, combat strategy (very intelligent), and is very ambidextrous with all her limbs. She can’t fly, but she can use her limbs to jump incredible distances (like a flea), walk on walls and ceilings (spider-style), and slice through objects tougher than steel; though only the top ones can "guillotine," and only the bottom ones can eject acid. She has defeated entire armies with those appendages. She also has an incredibly fast metabolism (by the age of two she looks like a ten-year-old) and must consume twice her bodyweight every day to function, though this turns to 5x during and after combat. When she's not fighting, she generally sits quietly to conserve her energy.

Mantis is the most successful of all the Angels. She was experimented on and used as a weapon all her life. Personality-wise she's as stoic as the Caption from Hellsing, so it's hard to tell what she's thinking, though there's no evidence to indicate that Mantis hates humans, or even likes killing. She never voluntarily attacks anyone unless provoked or hungry (she’s not above eating humans). The only human she truly outwardly hates is her “grandfather." Whenever she sees him she lunges for him with outspread arms (one is enough to kill a human) and, when restrained, gnashes her little teeth at him. The only reason she obeyed him was because he planted many microscopic bombs (“tiny but deadly, just like you”) in her body when she was a baby, and threatened to set them off if she ever disobeyed.

The day Mantis got her hands on that detination button, all hell broke loose. She escaped the lab in a similar manner that Lucy the Diclonius escaped her own lab in Elfen Lied; with death and destruction in her wake. That was the day Mantis stopped obeying orders and started living for herself.

Im not even kidding.

Her name is Elf Monster. Really. Her "true" name is a plot secret, so not even she knows it yet. Not even I know it yet. Not even God knows it yet. Anyway, she earned that nickname from her peers at the orphanage she grew up in because she was pretty mean and scary sometimes to the other children whenever she got picked on. It stuck since she didn't have a name when she first came to the orphanage. Her parents are a mystery. To keep from being called "monster" all the time, she shortens it to Elf Mon (what she uses "officially") or Elfy.

So enough about her name. She's 230-something years old, which is physically the equivalent to 19 human years. She's smart and strictly pragmatic about everything. She has a temper which she often tries to control. She's not shy, but is prone to putting people off. Especially old people. She's pretty nice most of the time and sticks strongly to her beliefs. She loves science (her forte is plant biology), which is uncommon for elves. Most elves in her universe study magic, which she hasn't much interest in. There's more, but basically, she's an oddball who is supposed to represent characteristic that oppose (though not in the offensive way) the majority of her race.

And this is Lilly Keyori! I know, her name sounds totally cliche. She used to be a god-awful Mary Sue, but I've tried to stay true to as many of her old character traits as possible so that I can both transform her from the hyperactive, retarded sue she used to be while still resembling the character she's always been. Anyway, Lilly has been around for as long as I've been on Gaia. Her design was based on one of the very first Gaia avatars I've ever had (not on this account).

She's gone through several phases like the "carbon copy of my best friend's OC" phase, her "Sailor Moon phase" (in which her backstory has several elements that resembled Sailor Moon, like a daughter from the future, and magical powers) and her "Hellsing phase" (in which my art style changed drastically to resemble Hirano's and she became a vampire and more badass). And now.. well, she's still not much now, except for the few common traits she's always had. Cute and cheerful, transforms into a fox, freckles, tan skin, dark brown hair, and slender. I'm working on integrating her into Elfy's story now.
