Well, what do you expect? I work pretty darn hard running this guild, and I need time to unwind. So, in an effort to promot some activity and give my flabby old man brain some excercise (at least until I can pick up that copy of Brain Age 2 next month), I've decided to take advantage of my own writing forum and post some poetry now and then. If you want to post some of yours...make your own topic. Seriously, the boards are too empty! Knights of the Blue Phoenix (A Poem) Thunder crashing, Like falling blades, In the night.
Blades clashing, Like thunderclaps, Through the day.
The battle cry, A thousand voices, Scream out loud.
The ones who fight, Cry out for peace, And shall not die.
With pride they stand, For Truth, For Freedom, For the blue flames in the sky.

Blind and bound, These ties drag down, What once was pure, Into the night.
Suffering...hated, And berated, Losing breath, Far out of sight.
No angel stands, With guiding hands, To mend or end, This hopeless plight.
I don't have a name for this one yet. It just sort of popped into my head.

My, my guildmaster. You seem to favor a slightly dark mood in your poetry. Is this how one unwinds? By venting out the darker feelings we keep locked up? I'd love to see some...happier feeling works.

I think the dark stuff's probably all he knows how to do. You'd never guess he was ordained from reading it though...so, yeah. Hey Captain! Write somthing happy before I get all emo over here, mkay?! emo ... ... ... rofl

Well aren't we just the happiest pair... maybe you two could become a poetic comedic duo. Danny could probably be the butt of the jokes...no pun intended.

That's fun. Although, this makes me think of a dane cook sketch. I think it was something like "That one person in the group everone loves to hate" or something like that...

Yes. Everyone seems to be going dark these days with poetry. All these teenagers with their raging hormones and angst. Oh wait, I'm one too. Then again, it's easier to be happy than depressed. And as far as how dark it is, I would say this is on the lighter end of the dark works I have seen. But personally, it would take a lot for something to make me want to injure myself after viewing it. Then again...there was that one terribly disturbing commercial on this year's funny ads special...

Geez sieg, what did you think when you had to study Edgar Allen Poe in high school or have you gotten there yet? I have studied some very dark works by various authors during my time in English Honors. Which I did English Honors all three years of high school. And they are famous enough that we have to study their writings in school. So, who knows, maybe our great great grandkids will have to study Kefke's poetry in high school someday.

Honestly, I thought Poe was pretty tame compared to other works I've seen. More than anything Poe in poetry is like the equivalent of Alfred hitchcock in horror movies. Compared to some of today's stuff, it's not that dark, although it was dark for the time it was written in. And some of Poe's works seem to scream out "Drug trip". And I honestly question the value of some of the texts we are forced to read in our school curriculum. Then again, I also question why we only read American or english literature mainly.
