what i'm guessing is that they're thinking they have too many shops so the gaia team is trying to find out general interest. whatever shops stay afloat, they keep, whatever shops don't, they probably divvy up the items and give them to other shops that people like (or don't and those items skyrocket in price), while they delete the shop.
at least, that's my theory.

That would make sense....
I hope the fish one goes.... It seems stupid to me paying real money to buy something that dies after a couple of days, at least with the other stuff it's permament and you can sell it on later for a huge price.
