Patch was laying at her favorite spot by a pond. It had been a busy day of hunting. She was happy to finally relax. The water was so refreshing. Kahawa would be meeting her here any second. To think, they might have a family on the way. She was just too happy.
She looked at her reflection with pride. In the water she saw a reflection of a little cub across the pond. "Good afternoon," Patch said.(Sorry It's a short intro. I'm going out and running lait)

Airi froze for a second, seeing an adult lion in front of her. She hesitated, wondering whether to growl or be friendly. As Patch spoke, her voice seemed friendly enough. Deciding to risk it, Airi quickly bent her head and took a few long draughts from the pond. The water felt like silk traveling down her parched throat. She still didn't know the area too well to remember where to find everything.
Once her thirst was sated, she sat up and waved her tail in a friendly gesture. "Hi!" She purred, "I'm Airi. Who're you?" She titled her head curiously to one side before plopping herself down onto the ground in a sitting position, wrapping her rather large tail around herself comfortably.

Kahawa walked towards the pond where he should meet Patch. He soon saw her lying at the edge. "Hey there love!" He called out jokingly. Then he could see a cub sitting there too. He lay down next to Patch and gave her a small snuggle.
"Well hello little one. You seem alone, how did you end up like that?" Kahawa said in a friendly tone.((Sorry its not much xD Maybe I had a writers block))

((Don't worry blaugh ))
Airi looked up as another lion walked up to her and lay down next to Patch. They seemed to be friendly, and she thought she could trust Patch, so immediately her trust extended to him too. She looked up at him, eyeing his rather large-looking mane. It was made of two colors, which made her think one thing. Cool.
"I'm not little! I'm gonna grow up t'be big and strong!" She said, puffing her chest out to make herself appear bigger. "And I live alone now. I went out to play and there was a storm, but I got lost. I couldn't get back home. I searched and searched but never found my momma or papa again. I've been hunting for myself and taking care of myself since! And Simba helped me hunt sometimes. Well... his real name isn't Simba, that's just a nickname, but I can't say his real name." She held up her head proudly, but a small flicker of sadness had crept into her eyes. It was odd, living on her own. She wanted others to play with and talk to.

Patch was happy that Kahawa had made it to the pond. "Good to see you," she said. She snuggled back. If they were alone Patch might have playfully threw him into the pond. She was very tempted.
Then Patch heard the cub's story. She automaticly felt like her and the cub had a lot in common. She too had no parents and raised herself. And the fact that the cub could still hold her head up high just brought Patch back to childhood. To this very day Patch still felt the need to look brave and tough when she met new lions; just like when she was a cub. She loved to prove her worth.
"You're very brave," Patch said, "I have no doubt that you will grow up to be a very 'big and strong' lioness. In fact Kahawa and I both grew up without parents. Oh, this is Kahawa and I'm Patch." She walked around the pond to the cub. "If there's anything you need you can ask us."

Airi's story remembered Kahawa of his own childhood. And he knew Patch was thinking the same. They both grew up as orphans too. But there was one difference. Kahawa had met Patch and afther that they had struggled together. Airi had to do it alone. He felt sorry for the cub and wanted to help her.
"You're a brave little bugger" Kahawa laughed. "Still, everyone deserves a little help don't you think? As Patch said we grew up alone too and we can understand life can be harsh. And who, if I may ask, is this Simba you're talking about?" He spoke to the cub. Then an idea hit him in the head. Kahawa leaned a bit more towards Patch whispering in her ear. "Now we're into cubs anyway, why don't we adopt her?" He purred.

Patch heard Kahawa's idea but she hesitated. They had just met the cub and were bombarding her with questions. Sure Patch would be open to accepting this cub into her family, but is that what the Airi would want? After all she had said she lost her family. Wouldn't she wish to just continue looking for them. It was definatly a touchy subject. Patch kept her mouth shut and hoped that the cub would say her goal and hopes. Patch decided that whatever the cub wanted to do, she'd help.

Airi blinked gratefully at the two lions, idly wafting her tail to provide some ventilation from the heat (she seems to believe it's like a fifth appendage), and the sadness left her eyes to be replaced with pride. She loved praise. As he called her a bugger, she stuck her tongue out cheekily. "I'm not a bug!" She jumped up to her paws and dropped into a crouch, trying to keep herself balanced on her tiptoes. "I'm gonna be the bestest and strongest lioness in the whole land!"
As he asked her about Simba, she grinned and her face lit up. "Simba's awesome. He's all big and grown up, but he acts like a cub! He said he's a walking, talking, silly habit." She raced on, completely unaware that to these two lions if would probably make no sense. "He's about... four times the height of me." She stretched up onto her tiptoes to add effect, "And his fur's orange but he has the coolest mane! It's brown but it's got orange and red in it too, and his eyes're blue! One of his legs is brown and his tail is pitch black." A small thought trickled into her head, "I remember part of his full name. The first was somethin' like Simbaaaazaaaa." Her face was screwed up in concentration as she thought, "And his other name's Oonabu or something. I couldn't say it, it was too hard."
Her face relaxed again quickly. "He said we could hunt an elephant later! I bet you haven't got to hunt an elephant. Though he wouldn't let me that time, said I had t'start small 'n' work my way up!"

The cub's story was very exciting, especially because she was so active. Patch was intrigued. "That's quite a story. No, I can't say that I'm ever hunted elephant. Then again, I really like fish," Patch said. She imagined Airi taking down a whole elephant along with is Simbaaaazaaaa Oonabu fellow, whom she couldn't imagine. A lion with blue eyes, black legs... or was it brown, black tail, and a red... no orange... no multicolored mane; what a sight that must be. Patch had no idea that this cub was friends with a god.

Airi pulled a disgusted face, sticking her tongue out. "Fish? I hear they taste all icky and slimy. I think an elephant would be much much much much much tastier!" She said, her eyes sparkling. She could almost picture it in her mind. The elephant wouldn't stand a chance against her! She'd be so fast and strong she'd bring it down no problem!
As a butterfly fluttered before her face, Airi looked at it curiously. Suddenly, she crouched with a little growl and pounced, her small legs not being able to propel her very high. It was high enough though, and her paws folded around the butterfly gently, pinning it to the ground. She looked at it for a second before letting it go again. They were fun to chase, but she didn't want to hurt them.

Kahawa totally had no idea who this Simbaaazaa was. He had an unusual name and as Airi described his cublike behaviour he pulled a confused face. Maybe it was just a confused lion... The high-pitched rambling of Airi snapped Kahawa out of his thoughts. He caught something about fish and hunting elephants. Hunting elephants? Must be a hard job! "I never hunted an elephants either, my taste lies more with some tasty buffalos! You'll have to grow very strong to nail down a big elephant, and when you do I'll watch the show." Kahawa laughed. He watched as Airi gently caught the butterfly. The scene rembered him of how Patch was always catching butterflies when they we're young. He would just sit there and watch, teasing her when she missed one. "Say Airi, what will you be doing next?"

As she heard Kahawa's question, she stopped and titled her head to once side, pondering. She bit her bottom lip and screwed her face up in concentration, as though it was a huge decision she had to make. "I'm not really too sure. I sort of... roam about and go where the wind takes me. It's fun sometimes. I get to meet some cool lions, and some not so awesome lions."
She looked at the two adult lions and felt a sudden pang of loneliness. They had each other, but she was alone. All alone. Shaking her head slightly, she leaped up to her paws. "Sometimes I go down to marshy places, and my paws get all stuck in mud." She stuck her tongue out in a face of disgust. "And sometimes I head out into the grasslands and get lost in the plants." She pretended to look around as though lost. "The grass goes waaaay over my head!"

Airi was a very good actor and storyteller. "Well," Patch cleared her throat. "You could come with me and Kahawa if you want. We adventure around as well. Never a dull moment. And you won't have to worry about getting lost or being alone." It was Kahawa's idea. She'd be sure to give him credit if things went well.
Patch liked Airi and she wanted her to be safe. Maybe motherly instincts were kicking in, Patch was none the wiser. Plus if they stayed with Airi maybe they cold help her find her parents. And Patch couldn't forget her cubs on the way. Airi would have some friends to play with.

A shocked look crossed Airi's face, to belong once more, to have a family! It was so tempting to just say yes, but something held her back. Her old parents. Biting her lip, she scuffled one paw against the ground. Her thoughts flew back to the past few weeks. To the storm that set it all off. She hadn't seen hide nor tail of her parents, nor scented them either. Somehow, she doubted she'd see them again.
Suddenly, her face brightened up. Patch and Kahawa were really nice. Even if she couldn't find her old parents, it would be nice to be looked after and loved. "I'd like that." She admitted, a grin spreading over her small face, eyes lighting up with joy.

Patch's heart beat rapidly against her chest and a tear spilled from her eye. Darn overly emotional pregnant hormones. Still it was a time of celebration. Patch covered her eye with her paw, trying to hide the tear. "Heh, something in my eye. The wind must have been carrying dust," she said.
