I know this movie came out in the movies in Japan last month & I know how some TAGers are able to see movies & shows not available out here. Has anyone seen this movie? How was it?

I'm just anxiously awaiting the movie. Everything I've read about it is favorable. It is just a pain waiting for an R2 DVD being released and it will probably be 3-4 months after that at least until an R1 release is made (if Tokyo SOS was any indication).

The Final Box does look nice though, and it has room for Final Wars when it is eventually released:

The head looks rather silly but that aside, that's a boxed set I'd like in my room for sure.

All I know is that this is going to be the last time that Godzilla shows up this year (unless the fans sign a mad dash of petitions again) crying
Says Toei since they said he hasn't been drawing in much crowds as before...

Yah I've heard that too. I think if they stuck with one storyline for this generation things might have drawn more attention.

It'll be four to ten years before another Godzilla movie. I think a break is a good idea.

I think a lot of fans got turned off on Godzilla in the 90s though. Storylines weren't so hot (lets see how many mis-uses of Godzilla's DNA we can have) and from my understanding the sets weren't so hot due to a change in scale. There was also the 1998 NA Godzilla flick... bleh. 2000 didn't really establish great faith in anyone and probably gave people bad hopes for the next decade of Godzilla flicks. ><

I'm all for waiting a few years and getting a somewhat fresh start.

Don't remind me of the US Godzilla ><;
A huge radioactive iguana that self-breeds, and eats fish...my butt!

Though, I guess I would have to agree with you on the break, Geetee. Some of the 'modern' Godzilla movies that were made weren't as good as I've seen them when I was young...

I liked the ones after 2000 though. ^^

I like how GINO gets mocked sometimes within Godzilla movies. In Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah you have the JDF preparing in case there is another monster attack. It is stated that a creature similar to Godzilla recently attacked New York. A couple of rookies talk amongst themselves. One asks if it was really Godzilla and the other replies that the Americans think it was Godzilla but our own experts believe otherwise.

I died.

I can't wait to see GINO be smacked up in Final Wars. ^_^

Anyway, I'm all for having a break since it is only a temporary one. Having a sequel every year tends to make people believe a franchise is stale even if it really isn't. sweatdrop

I just hope they don't do anything too drastic when the break ends like making someone henshin into a new Godzilla or something. *thinks* Well ok that wouldn't be too bad as long as a true Godzilla is still in the movie in some way or another.

I just don't want to see the comeback movie being a vs. Gamera. >>

Haha, Geetee XD

Now if that happened, either all hell would break loose, or we'd have no choice but to support our favorite monster razz
Really...two lizards fighting each other.... Though, I always wondered who'd win.

A Godzilla vs. Gamera movie is often talked about, but it hasn't come to fruition yet. I'm thinking it probably is inevitable... but I'm not anxious to see it. stare

I'd want to see such a movie but I'd doubt Godzilla would be written as the winner just because Gamera has always had the support of young children in his movies & I doubt they'd have the movie end with a bunch of kids crying (or dying since Gamera drew strength & shared pain with the kids in his latest comeback).

Finally watched the movie...

Too many scenes involving Human VS Xilian and not enough Monster actions.
(Main reason why I don't like the "Ryuhei Kitamura".)

Oh? So I'm guess you don't recommend it, huh?
