Hi all! Since we're in this sub forum I figured I'd ask some simple questions!

Do YOU write? Short stories, novels, fiction, non-fiction, poetry?
Professional writer or just a hobby?
Genre?
Ideas? Or what have you written already?

I used to be more of a writer in high school. I took extra English courses, and was a part of the school's poetry club (in fact, I was a member before it was officially created hehe). When I was younger, I had wanted to be either an artist or a writer, but here I am graduating college with a degree in Graphic Design. Go figure!

But recently I've been thinking, and talking with my professional writing major room mate (heh) and wonder why I never went into the field. There is SO much to write about. I think i'd like to write teenager fantasy. Yes I know, its overdone, but I want to delve into things besides the fancy sweet side of life. Maybe I'm missing out on the books that don't do that but I feel books like Twilight are a bit TOO romanticized (and i'm not talking about the love story). In fact I just read a book called "Dead is the new black" (12+ book, but regardless of this fact, its not bad actually. warning, its short) and still, too romanticized. I'll probably stay away from vampires and werewolves, etc. but hey just an idea. Haven't written anything yet, but i'm eager to start (now if only finals weren't this week...)

Feel free to comment on what i wrote, and please! Answer the questions if you can! I'd love to learn more about you guys smile

I consider myself a writer. I've been in love with writing since i was about 10 years old and becoming an author/poet is the only thing I've ever wanted to do with my life 3nodding
I mostly like to write novels of the fantasy/supernatural variety.
I do love my vampires and werewolves, but I go through great pains to make my stories and idea original. I'm not influenced by Twilight or anything. The authors that got me into the genre were Anne Rice and Laurell K Hamilton.
I write a lot of poetry as well. Most of it is just really personal, not stuff I share often. It's decent I suppose, but I'm no Emily Dickinson.

I'm in college right now majoring in English Literature and minoring in History. I hope to become a librarian who writes on the side, hoping I can get published

I am a writer. Doesn't matter what you write but if you spend some time each day writing then you are a writer.

I usually do fiction/fantasy when I write out a story. Am considering posting/ writing up something that has a start to it for some help/ critiqueing in the main forums. smile Will let you know if I Do smile

i don't know if i would consider myself a writer or not.
i don't write as much anymore, because it was mostly an outlet, nor did i write short stories. however i have and still write poems, which is mostly an outlet for me.

i only have taken english classes in school, nothing extra.. hopefully they'll let me take some next year.

I love fantasy, so if you post any of that I'll most likely read it 3nodding

I would like to consider myself a writer, and usually I think that I am a pretty good writer. Lately though, I have for the first time in my life felt that I am not a good writer. I would almost call it an identity crisis. At some point I need to get over it. I also need to finish something. I like fantasy and supernatural to write. I do not do so well trying to write short stories, but I do like to write.

If you want to see some of my writings you can go to my profile on fictionpress.com.

<3 I write a lot of stories and my teachers are always wanting to read them so yeah I can write very well.....>.> but when it comes to putting all that comma and punctuation stuff into place that's where I run into problems but I can make an interesting story even f the grammar sucks XD

Well, of course I write! I have been writing since I was in the second grade! I probably have my little book of second-grade stories around here somewhere....

I entered my first writing contest in the second grade, and I made my story about the lovable Wishbone falling down into a hole and finding a treasure. XD

Nowadays I write poetry and start stories, but sadly never really can sit down to finish them. You have school and friends to blame. ;D But its all cool.

I plan to be a professional writer. Unfortunately, the only thing that I can really do around here classes-wise in high school is just take honors and AP classes when I can. Our school magazine is completely ridiculous, and no one on the staff takes things seriously. It kinda bugs me, so I am occupying myself with Photography and AP Studio Art instead.

As for ideas, I have a shape-shifter story that I am desperate to finish a manuscript for, as well as a vampire story (sorry everyone if I disappoint you). Sadly, in being a teenager I write like one, but I hope that as I grow older when I write more, my writing will evolve with my age. I think that would be the best way to be a writer too, as your readers will be growing with you and your stories and imagination.

I've been working on a novel for almost two years. I had a hiatus for a while due to work, but I"m thinking of getting back into it. I have the prologue for it in the writing arena.

Writing is something I've wanted to do since high school. I've made a few starts, my first book idea i will admit sucked. But the one i'm working on now i'm so dedicated to getting it published because i'm enthralled with the character that i'm not sure who she is yet. It's quite an experience. I want to be published before i'm 25, i'm 21 right now. Hopefully that'll work. I'm a English Literature major at my university. I'm always thinking of ideas for my current book and future books. It's really exciting.

I been a writer since I was very little. But I've never really finished a story, I've always gone to a different one. I'm thinking of posting some on gaia. If I do please read and tell me how it is.

Yes, I am a writer. Not published, and I'm not intending to do that soon, in fact. What comes to what I write, it's pretty much anything, except non-fiction - I'm not too good with that sort of writing. Genres... mostly SF/fantasy and historical fiction. My current project could be classified as historical fantasy fiction with a flavour of occultism, I believe...

I've been writing since third grade. Poetry is my specialty, but I like writing short stories, fanfiction, and novels. But rarely do I ever finish anything cause I'm always starting something new^^;

...My World is Trembling and You're Nowhere to be Found...

I don't consider myself a writer, but since '06 or '07 I've been writing a story(It's fiction) and lotsa poetry. For some of my poetry check my journal.^.^
My genre is probably in the Emo section or around it. My poems are all pretty sad, but who cares. Everything comes from my heart.
