My favorite Yazawa sensei related topic is having heated discussions of the ending of Paradise Kiss. So, I figured this being the Yazawa Ai guild, we could have one here. Your thoughts on the ending?

Welllll....the issue of the ending of Paradise Kiss has been bugging me for a while. Ever since I got the 4th volume and found out it was the last one, I kind of felt cheated. This was a GREAT series, and the last volume seemed a bit ... rushed.
It's a realistic ending, not a fairy tale ending like most are, but the fact is it came waaay too soon. I wanted to see a little more come out of the series than just the 4 volumes. I do have a good feeling about the Anime since it is pretty much guaranteed to have 13 episodes at least. And that means a little more expansion on the characters. I felt like I didn't get to know Isabella enough.
I did like the ending, it was fair, and what you would expect from the story. And it wasn't ... what's the word I'm looking for ... romanticized I guess. It was just too SHORT!! crying

There're actually 5 volumes of Paradise Kiss. I own the first four. I've read volume five, but I don't own it yet. I actually really liked the ending. Spoilers: I thought that George and Yukari's relationship was sort of explosive. They had a lot of chemistry, but it was too much. I don't think they would have been happy together.

I actually like the ending, kind of. I mean, this manga is actually too short, you don't really know the characters enough to feel too much for them or the manga. But I have this feeling that if I knew the characters more I would really like this ending and this series. It's probably because I like Isabella though... pity we can't know more about her... ;_;... O_O

I just read the ending today.. because I didn't feel like buying the book for like three months or so (didn't want it to end xD).
I agree with Fluff-san, it did seem to end quickly, but I guess I understand why she did it.
I just voted for 'No, I didn't like it", but then I think it was good because it didn't have the 'fairy tale ending'. But then again, I actually cried when I finished the book. I have no idea why... if it was for the fact that it ended or that Caroline (Yes, that is what I call her too xP) didn't end up with George.. or what. xD I wish there was more in general.. I did love how Isabella-san ended up following George though.

I liked it, but there were things I didn't like about it. Everybody seemed to have a love infactuation except Isabella. I love him, but he didn't seem to really have anyone...

I mostly liked it. I liked the events that led up to the resolution, and what happened with Yukari and George. (Spoiler)But I would have been happier if the "ten years later" bit wasn't in there. With Yukari ending up with Hiro and Miwako with Arashi, I felt it was really predictable and sorta cliche. I would rather the books had ended with George and Isa sailing into the sunset, leaving me to imagine what happened to the Para crew in the following years.(/Spoiler)
Plus, If the series hadn't had that ending, it would have left itself open for a sequel/remix. crying

Well, I've seen the anime. I've only read volume 1 of the manga. What I wanted to know is who does Caroline marry in the end. They never show who the man is. I have a feeling it was probably that one boy from her class who liked her and became a doctor...what was his name...grr...I forgot. Anyways, the reason why Isabella (who is a man, I don't know why you say "she") went with George was because Isabella really likes George. Now I'm pretty sure that he LiKeS George, but is willing to just keep it on friendly terms. But who knows, maybe George got with Isabella in France. George is bisexual. Although I wish he would have went with Seiji. mrgreen Yaoi would have been funny to see! Yukari, I don't know about her. I think if she truly loved George with all her heart, she would have gone to France with him. But she chose her career over him. But I guess since she is a famous model, she would eventually have gone to France to do some photoshoots or whatnot. She would eventually run into George and maybe now they're just friends with benefits. There is an OVA coming out by the way. I'm pretty sure its out already.....but I have to check with my friend who let me watch the anime series.

my share of spoilers are in white. I really wish that ten years wasnt in there. I could see it perhaps if it had been marked "Epilogue" or something, but it wasn't, and became a part of the ending of the story. I think that the way it did end was good in a realistic sense. George and Yukari... I am a huge fan of the couple, but they just didn't work. You know, how you may love someone, but you just don't go together? I kind of wish Yukari had gone on and found someone else, even if that guy would be unfamiliar to us. I congratulate Miwako and Arashi for working out their problems. I think they are a really nice couple.
My overall opinion is that the ending, while realistic, was a bit predictable, and I would have been happier if it hadn't been, and that the ten years later wasn't in there. *****

Okay I loiked how her and George didn't get together and all that I think that was unexpected, and I did have a feeling Yukari and Hiro made a good couple, they were cute...... And The Story made me cry...

I somewhat liked and disliked the ending. I agree that Yukari and Hiro ending up together was quite predictable, and that wasn't what I would have liked the best for the ending. I did like how Yukari and George seperated, which I had no clue would happen. That would've happened realistically, too. It's not worth throwing her modelling career away for a guy, like Isabella said.
If they were going to make the ten years later, couldn't it have at least shown all the characters in Para-Kiss and who they're with? I can't help but wonder how they aged.

Well y friends did come and yell at me for letting them read the series when it came to the End my one friend WHO KNOWS NOTHING OF AMERICAN CUSTOMS! called me at 3 am to complain about it to me.
