Energy Space Technology
The Randir use energy from Energy Space in various applications, from power systems to weapon systems to communication systems, and so on. They have distinguished multiple different types of Energy Space energy, each with a unique wavelength or frequency and unique behavior within Normal Space.

Sol-Mani Energy
This is the most commonly used type of energy. It provides power for most Randir technology.

Muspel Energy
This energy is known for it's destructive behavior, and as such is mainly used in weapons.
Muspel energy is used to fuel Randir particle cannons.

Wraithbone

The Randir have perfected a skill of creating Normal Space matter entirely from Energy Space energy. Using various techniques to enhance their psychic abilities, trained Randir psykers can channel waves from Energy Space into a solid state of existence within Normal Space.

The resulting material may vary in density and ductility, but is generally made to be considerably rigid. However, the real strength of Wraithbone lies in its conductive property. A Wraithbone object (suit of armor, vehicle plating, etc.) can easily conduct energy throughout any and every part of itself, but the object will have a sort of skin (a layer of insulating Wraithbone), that will contain the energy.

Exploiting this property, shielding and cloaking can be created by running unique wavelengths/types of energy through the Wraithbone technology.

Crystal Wraithbone
Wraithbone can be created with it's particles in patterned alignments (crystal), which will give it greater conductive properties, but make it less useful as a constructive material. It is mainly used to collect and store power from Energy Space.
This technology exists in many Randir weapons, power devices, and communication devices.

Wraithbone Shielding
A Randir Shield Generator is directly connected to a ship's wraithbone hull. The generator runs energy (ooc: in time, I'll name the type of energy, if I have to) through the hull so that it radiates from it, dampening attacks from energy weapons as they strike the hull. The shape of the energy field of a Randir shield conforms to the shape of the hull.

Wraithbone Cloaking
Like Wraithbone shielding, Wraithbone cloaking acts on the hull directly. However, in Wraithbone cloaking, the vessel is transported to a plane of existence between Normal Space and Energy Space.

(ooc: Would it be too much to say that Wraithbone Cloaking allows the vessel to pass through matter, and for matter to pass through the ship? Like it could move through a planet, and physical weapons like missiles could pass through it? This isn't something I planned on, but I just realized it would work that way based on how I describe it above.)

(mod: That sounds fine. It sounds like the cloak works by creating a pocket of space alternate to normal space. Essentially that would make it something of a phase cloak which would allow it to avoid interactions with normal space, thus allowing it to pass through matter. Be sure to explain how it is able to detect normal space, assuming it can, if it does not interact with Normal Space. It is possible that it does not prevent photon interactions or only prevents them to a limited degree, but that does make it easier to detect. What you could do is make it able to detect sonic waves when in a medium so that in a vacuum, the Randir ships 'listen' to solar wind and other types of particle radiation. -DC)

Soulstones

A soulstone is an object made of crystal wraithbone that is attuned to capture and retain a free psychic consciousness in close proximity.

Specifically, it is meant to capture the soul of a deceased Randir, but it may possibly captures the soul of a being of another race.

A "free" psychic consciousness generally refers to the mind (normally detectable as a unique energy) of a being whose body has died. Every suit of armor worn by a Randir warrior contains a single soulstone, and each soulstone is designed to capture a single soul.

"Consciousness"
If a soul resides in a soulstone, that soul will not necessarily be a whole personality or consciousness. Thus, the soulstone does not guarantee it's wearer "immortality."
However, the Randir psykers do possess certain techniques of recovering a [physically] dead being's mind from a soulstone.

Technological Application
The Randir have developed technology that converts the psychic energy held within soulstones into electrical power:

Soulstones are placed in sockets on the sides of this device. In it, their energy is converted and channeled.

(ooc: I haven't worked everything out in my mind about how the power technology works, but I hope it isn't too powerful. I mean, I want to say that soul energy never runs out, because a soul would be eternal. But I wouldn't say that a soulstone could put out infinite power, just that it could put out power "infiniteLY," or indefinitely. So a device running on souls has a power limit, but will not become totally depleted of power.)

The Webway
The webway is a jump drive network accessed by Webway beacons built by the Randir. These beacons are made in two forms: mobile beacons and ship-board beacons. A ship-board beacon has much less power and is mostly used to transport personnel. A mobile beacon is a large Randir space vessel. Several of these float across space forming the Webway.
These beacons allow ships within range to perform space-folds to distances farther than would be possible on their own power.

History/Design Features: The Particle Cannon directs focused Energy Space particles in a continuous stream. On hitting Normal Space matter, the Energy Space particles flow into the matter, turning it into unstable Energy Space particles which then combust.
The stream resembles an intensely bright green lightning (but slower than lightning).

Operator: Randir warriors

Power Supply: Muspel Cell

Rate of fire: continuous (charges a few seconds after the trigger is pulled)

Specialty: anti-personnel

Strengths: Effective against matter that is not protected by energy shielding.

Weaknesses: short range, inaccurate, cumbersome to carry

Other: The particle stream will easily conduct through flesh and destroy it almost instantly, but different materials may be less easily affected. Some materials will not be affected by the Particle Cannon until the stream continuously hits it for a few seconds. Most material made for vehicles or armor will easily resist a handheld Particle Cannon.

Other: Every member of the Varangian Guard is given a suit of Varangian Armor at some point. Each member may personally modify or customize their suit. Also, specific ships or fleets may require certain uniform colors or modifications for every guardsman's armor.

A note on Varangian Tactics:

Varangians (and many Randir in general) lack conventional projectile weaponry. In battle, they must close the distance between themselves and their adversaries, and then engage them in melee combat with their hefty wraithbone axes.
In order to level the playing field with opposing forces carrying projectile weapons, the Varangians employ the use of mobile machines that generate energy shields. Moving with the shield under it's protection, the Varangian warriors can theoretically walk right up to the enemy, virtually invulnerable to ranged attacks.
This shield technology is different than wraithbone shielding; like many other energy shields, these mobile generators project a field, forming a bubble. The diameter of the shield is modifiable, able to cover just a few warriors, or (usually) a couple dozen.

Varangians also like to teleport via webway from their ships directly to the location of their objective.
