Excerpt from Histroy of Our City and Lord, Chapter 3:
And Lord Spiral said,"We shall leave this land, and make our own!" and he and Kain were in agreement. Thus did Spiral take his people and his Right Hand to the land beyone the mountains. He looked upon it and then removed his cape, for it was a burden. He turned to his Right Hand and told him, Take this, I had found it as we went, and handed him a cloak of such darkness it ate the light around it.

Thus he walked to the nearest mountain and sheared it cleanly in half with a single stroke. Then, pleased with the amount of stone he had, he placed it upon the plains, and then began to mold it to his liking. And he decided that the city would be akin to his name, in shape and in spirit: Out of the mountain was carved a long, wide spiral path, an acre wide. And as it rose up the moantain, it grew more and more narrow, until the top, when it was barely wide enough for the Lord Spiral to walk upon.

And he thus declared: At the bottom, the most ordinary would live, with their plots of land to farm and harvest, their homes to build and cherish, their livestock to breed and eat, and their families to protect.
At the middle, the 'special folk', the Strange Ones, the true disciples of Lord Spiral would live. And they would have their homes to build and cherish, and their families to protect, and the riches to buy what the rock did not allow to grow from the people below them.
And just below Spiral would live the Great Legends, who would be given their homes to build and cherish, and would protect Lord Spiral until the day that they again passed into the world from whence they came, their service rendered.

And thus Spiral climbed his City, it as a stairway to him, and sat upon his throne. And thus he called to his people, build, build upon the land I have given you, carve your lives as you please once more.

And thus he stated: As more are born and as more come, the city would grow ever higher, and ever taller, and the people who once were on the botom might be the ones in the middle someday.

And he stated, as my city grows taller, our kingdom is greater, for I am the king of all that I see from my throne atop the city, excepting that which Kain has laid claim to.

And the people cheered, and set to work, and Spiral was pleased upon his throne.

"Well." Spiral said with a sigh as he watched his people scurry about, hacking at the nearby forest with axes like some convoluted videogame, "I'll be damned. They actually like the idea." he chuckled, leaning his head on one massive fist upon his stone throne. "The problem is that I have no damn idea where the hell we are." he said with a sigh. "I mean, all the better for us to be in a secluded area that that ******** beam can't wallop, but..." he sighed heavily, and smiled as they set to his cape for his materials as he had offered. "I'll get bored of this fast."

He'd let the Dracolich fly freely in the skies. It seemed happy to pretend it was alive again...at least it wasn't devouring and incinerating him. The whole ordeal made his bones rattle. Still he would emerge from the shadow of the throne with his mask still on, never to be removed again as far as he was concerned. "They are only mortal, Lord Spiral. Instinct drives them to survive and you have given them resources to survive off of, as well as homes to return to...but again, they are only mortal. Mortals can only go so long without conflict, at which point they will turn to you."

He'd create a crystal ball of ice in his palms and allow it to twirl, giving him view of the higher plains. "The socialism will indeed provoke conflict as well; mortal or not all instinct drives us to want to be on a higher plain. In the end I would not be surprised if one of your own Legends was to challenge you for the throne, Lord Spiral."

He scoffed.
"I got their souls." he said, opening his cockpit to reveal hundreds of bottles that clinked together as he shifted. It closed quickly. "I'm not at all worried about my people. In time, I will trian them, and then, the lands around us will be ours." he looked down at Lich.
"How abouyt Death's cloak? I did get it just for you, it seemed to suit ye."

"The cloak of the being that resides over all that is Dead and to die? Yes, I would love the cloak of such a creature." He'd look out over the land again and let out another ghostly laugh from beneath his mask. "I suppose you have little to fear in the end...even if one were to strike out at you and Death would come upon them then I would need no more then summon them back under your control. I suppose I could be called the fail-safe, yes?"

His attention would turn back to Spiral, though he'd only rise from his crouched position rather then look to him. "Yes, I will take your most gracious gift my Lord and I will use it in your name...but something troubles me my Lord: Why is it you struck a deal with Kain? Why let him have what he wanted?"

Spiral smiled.
"Kain and I are very similar in a way: Neither of us are 'heroes'. Neither of us protect the weak. Kain was willing to let me go, and he no longer holds anger for me. So what issue should I have for him?" he asked quietly. As I said, I shall clean the earth of the weak. Kain isn't weak."

He dropped the cape, made of pure darkness, beside Lich.

"I need you to make a shield over this city equal to the wards over Vincent's castle, or even greater. If possible, make it reflect plows dealt to it... I'm not taking any chances."

He'd grab the cloak and begin with a slow, amused laughter as it was fastened around his neck. As if to taunt Death he'd change the color to purple, a spit in Death's face as he'd taken something absent of all color and light and added a feint amount to it, fastening it with a violet orb. All the same powers and even the flowing hem, though it could do a bit more now. His robes would shift from violet to a dark blue that looked like something of regality, though he kept his black trousers in tatters. His feet would cover themselves in clawed boots symbolizing a demon, much like the two barbed horns that would shoot from above the mask. Finally, a dark crown would appear over his mask, horns and around his skull. He felt...complete, and would thus bellow an icy cackle.

"A shield like that is not made in a day I am afraid, but it is not impossible either. Far from to be honest. Give me a day, perhaps two, and you will have your barrier." Rods of ice would shoot up from all around him and if one looked extremely carefully they'd see areas around the city that seemed warped, or distorted, in the same fashion as his icicle rods. Five in total each running energy through and around one another forming a pentagram with him at the center. He'd cross his arms over his chest and let his black claws rap and rest along his shoulders while continuing the project. "I have begun the process already, though should I be disrupted I will need to begin all over again regardless of progress made...and I will need to gather the proper energy for it again."

"Very well. I shall assign you a bodygaurd, then." he looked out. "Ah. Yes, the boy will be perfect. Tohno. Come here."
A boy, merely seventeed in appearence and wearing thick glasses, walked out of a house and approached.
"Assassin-class Shiki, you are assigned to gaurd my right hand man, Lich, until he completes his ritual. You are not to allow any distractions to pass, am I clear?"

The boy sighed, then took off his glasses. His eyes seemed to peirce the very soul of everything.
"Crystal, sir." he said simply, looking over at Lich.

The crystals around the city would completely solidify, pulse, then shatter. This was the sign that the barrier was in place. Though it could not be seen, it was one just as strong as what Kain had used given he was still a piece of Kain. The only difference was the warping field which was left out. The markings and symbols around him would disappear, and he'd seem to move about like no more then a few minutes had passed. It was then he'd take notice of the boy guarding him. "You must have been extremely bored. You have my apologies the summoning was not more...eventful. But what can one ask for when we are not even sure where we are?"

He'd look the city over like a dark statue, his robes and cloak still moving beneath him. Always a dead giveaway he was alive. "This city needs something to strengthen it; to unify it. Through fear mankind unites; through fear mankind comes together." He'd look to his cloak and turn his view from the city, now instead searching through the spirits of the cloak. He'd reach into the cloak and toss out a soul and use his own powers to quickly restore its body, revealing a woman beyond beauty. She'd cover her nudity and seem to act confused.

"Countess Elizabeth Báthory, born the 7th of August in 1560. You met your untimely demise August 21st, 1614 at the age of 54...and yet you seemed no older than a mere young adult. You are truly the definition of beauty and of sadism...I have brought you back, Countess, to live out those days once more!" He'd look to Shiki and point to the shivering countess. "Clothe her with whatever garments she so wishes and bring her before Lord Spiral...I'm sure he will give her proper housing."

The boy nodded, placing his coat over her shoulders and leading her up the city, towards Spiral.
"Are you alright?" he asked the woman gently, putting on his glasses. The whole situation felt oddly familiar, but he dismissed it quickly.

(Feel free to play her; look her up on Wikipedia if you don't know that Goddess...only damn person I'd ever think of worshiping. You do women better then me, which is to say you posses a talent I do not. Which pisses me off...also, if we're using characters from other realms... )

The Lich would nod and look to his sides. It seemed like he needed his own private guards and thus he had to think for a moment just what he was looking for. First he'd remove a soul from the cloak that would quickly meld into a figure dressed in heavy black armor and a massive sword, easily larger then any other he had seen before. He'd pull another soul from his coat, this one standing before him on his right knee. When he was formed...well, he was far more detailed. Blue hair and a white trench with shoulder pads that looked more like armor, especially the right which had several spikes coming from it. His pants were mere gray cloth, his boots no different...but the way his arms were wrapped down to the gun itself seemed strange. His golden hues would look to the Lich and grin. The armored man would join him at his left side, the blue haired man at his right side.

"You two shall act as my hands! Follow orders to the last detail less you wish me to return you to the realm of oblivion I pulled you from! To my left...your new name is simple: Sword. Use that armor and your abilities to defy Fate, God, and all other bindings to serve me! Know that you are not bound to me, but that I can erase you!" The man would look to him and simply nod. "To my right: Mind. You, on the other hand, are bound to me! Serve me, and the chains shall not suffocate you...serve me, and I will grant you the power of the Angel Arm!"

"Of course, my Master. What would you have us do now?" The blue haired man spoke in a hypnotic, deep tone that any woman could easily fall for.

"For now, you two shall remain by my side. I am no more then a husk; I require protection. Mind, you shall read their thoughts and inform us of their intentions. Manipulate them if you need to...Sword! With the Dragonslayer, you shall vanquish any foe that comes near us. That armor cannot kill you; push yourself as far as it takes to bring victory! Do not fear the enemy; your chains were broken!" Again he would receive a nod from the man, though he gave a glimpse of the fact he had only one eye.

((*Facts: Sword = Gutts from "Berserk." He cannot be harmed by powers that would affect life overall, the soul, Fate, or any other unnatural means. His armor allows him to reach Godly powers, though the more he pushes himself, the more pain he feels. Dragonslayer is made from a symbiotic steel that will regenerate upon damaging and will sharpen itself as much as needed, and in some cases, create needed friction. Mind = Legato from "Trigun." He can read minds and even manipulate not only the minds, but the very electrons of not only one individual, but several at once. While he cannot use telekenisis, he has been given the power of the Angel Arm, allowing his right arm to emit a beam of light similar to Kain's D-Angel attacks. This attack acts as a beam and then spreads as a dome, making sure it hits. It is very costly on his energy, though.))

(( If I can make 20 unique clones, I know you could ditch the anime characters, or at least change their appearances and names. ))

((Izzat a challenge?
The idea was that these are legends out of fiction and history. I suppose I could pull my old old characters outta me hat if you really wanted, but what does this have to do with anything?))

(( The anime characters are legend to their own stories. With all due respect, the ones I've decided to go with were legends of their own worlds. Especially Gutts. Thus, there should be no problem... ))
