He had been traveling with her for a couple of suns now. He was no less amazed by her kindness than the night they'd first met. As they climbed slowly up the rise that would eventually burst out of the trees and spread the world out below in a view that was just for them, TAur smiled. He was glad they were together, that he would be able to show her this sight. He was glad to not be alone anymore.
He still felt awkward, still didn't know what to say to her but... but it was getting easier. Well, when he wasn't looking directly at her anyway. She was so beautiful, she stole all his thoughts and words clean away. So dark, graceful, so wonderful. She might have been born of Aeri himself. He could believe that. Part Goddess. Yes.
Glancing over at the black mare, he smiled shyly. "We're nearly there now, I promise it's worth the climb!"

"Okay, okay!" She said with a laugh. She could see the crest of the hill for herself, she knew they were almost there, but it was cute that he'd tell her so. She knew it would be worth the climb, at any rate; she didn't think Taur would drag her anywhere boring. He probably didn't know any boring places, anyway, what with how interesting he was.
It had been a few suns since they'd met, she wasn't sure how many but it didn't matter really, and she was still just as happy to have met him as she was then. He was so sweet and kind and handsome, and.. she tried not to think of anything else; it was bad enough her mind ran away with that topic.
Back to reality: Yisi. They were in Yisi now, they'd arrived earlier and Taur had wanted to show her this place immediately. She had no objection, of course, especially with him leading the way, as she wanted to see all his favorite places here. Perhaps they had some in common? She hoped so, or at least that they'd enjoy each other's favorite spots. She couldn't wait to find out what was beyond the hill that Taur wished her to see.

Taur grinned at the elegant mare as they reached the brow of the hill. They had left the trees behind some while ago; the ground was too steep and rocky for anything but tough grass, lichen and shrubs. The hill was an anomaly in Yisi; you couldn't see it from a distance like you could a hill elsewhere because of all the trees down below. He had stumbled upon it quite back accident some years ago, and had visited it very often since.
"So... What do you think?" he asked as he turned to look out over the familiar but still stunning view. The forests of Yisi could be mere grass down below them, lakes could be puddles, mighty rivers streams. It felt as though he could see the whole world from here. Off to the west, red mountains rose, and to the east he knew was D'ob, though he could not see quite that far. This was a beautiful place, but there had always been a sadness about it for him before. It was a very lovely but very lonely place to come by yourself. Sharing it with someone else, especially a kind and beautiful mare, made it all the more wonderful.

She grinned back at the sandy stallion as she followed him up the hill. Her view was perfect right now, in her opinion, but she relinquished it to pull up beside him. Her violet eyes widened and her mouth opened a bit as she studied everything. It was so.. so big. She could see a similar view from the air but that was just... down. This was everything across. There was Fyhi over there, and D'ob must be that way but she couldn't quite see it really, and Quirne must be over there, and Shrilal...
"Oh, Taur.. It's beautiful," she breathed, unable to think of a better word for it. She wished she could. She beamed at her companion, then turned to gaze at the view a bit more. It really was magnificent. And the hill was so strange, too; she hadn't seen it until they'd gotten to it. Must be because of the amount of trees in Yisi. Either way, the view was beautiful and it was nice to think that no one else knew about this spot except Taur, and now her. She leaned over to nudge his shoulder with her muzzle. "It's gorgeous, truly magnificent. Thank you for showing this to me," the ebony mare said happily, and turned to look out again over Urin. It really was beautiful.

Taur grinned shyly and dipped his head briefly. "I'm... I'm really glad you like it. It is beautiful, but it's more beautiful today because I'm not here by myself... Nequus weren't really made for living alone, were they?" That was why so many lived in herds, or at least with a partner or small family group. He would like to live like that, with a mate and foals. They could travel all around the world together and play with the foals, and teach them everything about Urin they both knew and...
He couldn't see it happening. He couldn't see any mare wanting him as a mate. He probably shouldn't have foals anyway, in case he passed on his awful horns to them. He couldn't do that to anyone, let alone someone he would love as much as he would love any children he had. The skinny stallion gave a slight sigh and looked out over the view again. At least for now he wasn't all by himself, at least for now he had someone to talk to, to show things to, just to be with...
"One day," he said slowly, "I... I'd like to come here with foals... Foals of my own, you know? I'd like a family." There was no harm telling her that dream. She wouldn't laugh at him for it, wouldn't tell him he would never find anyone and would always be alone. She was far too kind for that.

Venus offered him a smile, bobbing her head a bit. "It is beautiful. And no, I don't think we were made to live alone." She scuffed a hoof absent-mindedly. She'd had a mate, and a herd, and a home, but that all went up in a puff of gossiping smoke. She could still hardly believe it, but that was all in the past. She was glad she wasn't with all that anymore, she didn't want to be tied to a fickle bunch of brainless idiots.
She shook her head a bit as he spoke again, and she listened with a smile. "That would be wonderful. I'd like one too, to come and show them this place, all the wonderful places in Urin. I'd like foals," she said, casting purple eyes over the lands spread out below them. "I... I almost had a family before," the ebony mare admitted cautiously, not sure why she would tell him but... but it seemed alright to tell him. She'd tell him eventually anyway. "Almost, but he believed these awful rumors. Have you ever heard of the black devils?" She asked suddenly, turning to look at him. "Two black nequus who reeked havoc and destroyed fruits, and did all sorts of terrible things. Because of them, there are a lot of suspicious nequus who believe that all nequus of black coats are that terrible."

Oh! Oh... That was awful. Taur lowered his head, wanting to give her a sympathetic nuzzle but not daring to. "I'm sorry you lost that chance Venus... I have heard of them," he went on with a nod, frowning slightly to himself. "I've heard of them but I never thought... I mean I never even knew other people thought that black Nequus were bad because of that... It's just stupid to think that. They're just two Nequus... or were. I haven't heard anything about them in a while but then I suppose I've been more and more out of touch with things so..."
He was rambling and babbling. "So yes," he shuffled his wings and smiled shyly, "I don't know where anyone could get such a silly idea from. Not everyone thinks like that, so I'm sure you'll find a mate someday... You're far too kind and pretty not to, you know." She really was. She was so very lovely, anyone who had been with her and let her slip away was a complete idiot.

She smiled and shook her head, glad she was right. He'd never think of her like that. It really was stupid that people thought black nequus could do such a thing. They weren't any different than nequus of other coat colors, but just because two black nequus... well. It didn't matter now.
She shook her head again, offering him a smile. "No, I'm glad I didn't go with him. He believed in those rumors, believed that any black nequus was like that. He even accused me of being like them, because his brother convinced him all black nequus were like those two. I wouldn't want to be with such a fickle nequus anyway, so I'm glad it happened." She really was. If it hadn't happened then, it would have happened later, and what if they'd had foals? That would've been terrible. No, she was glad it had happened when it did.
"I don't know why people have such silly ideas, either. There's a herd where that rumor is a core belief, that all of black coats are bad. It's really stupid, in my opinion." She couldn't help but smile at his last sentence or two. "I'm sure I will, and thank you. I know you will, too, you're much too wonderful and sweet to not find anyone," she said and nudged his shoulder again. "And too handsome not to," she added with a grin.

Even if he couldn't quite believe her, he couldn't help a big grin. She liked the horns, even if he didn't. She liked him... well as a friend. "You think so? Really?... I hope so. It would be wonderful to find a mate." She'd have to be kind and fun like Venus. It didn't matter what she looked like really, but he would prefer it if she wasn't too tall.
"I can hardly believe there's a whole herd that thinks like that," he went on with a laugh and a shake of his head. "What... what you you think they're called? Handrakai Idiot? Handrakai RockHead?" he laughed a bit at his own joke before giving an embarrassed cough and flicking his ears. "Anyway, err, yes! I'm glad that you're alright with it all ending, and his brother sounds really awful! You deserve someone a lot nicer than someone who'd believe stupid things about you just because his brother said so. He should just go off and join Handrakai RockHead."
He was very glad it had happened as well. If it hadn't, he never would have met her, now would he? She was the first person who had been really nice to him in what felt like forever, so meeting her had been hugely important to him. He was so much happier right now, he was starting to believe that things could go right in life. Okay, he still didn't really believe he'd ever find a mate, but he did believe he could find friends in the world and that was a big step up!

"Of course I think so, silly!" She said with a grin and a light laugh, nudging him with a wing. How silly he was! Didn't he think he'd ever find a mate? Of course he would, especially with how handsome and sweet he was. Whatever mare landed him would be a lucky mare indeed. Yes, very lucky. She could keep that to herself, though. "Yes, I think so."
Venus couldn't help but laugh at the thought, flicking her tail. "I can't believe it either. I don't know what it's called, though." Although Handrakai RockHead sounded like a pretty good name to her.
She was glad he thought so. She wasn't sure why she thought so, but she did. "Yes, they were both awful. I hope I never see them again." Hopefully she wouldn't, but she could take care of herself if she did. Oh well, it didn't matter much, did it? She offered him a smile again. She was rather glad it happened, but not for the reasons she mentioned. If it hadn't, she wouldn't have gone to Quirne and wouldn't have met Taur. Might not have... well, it wouldn't do well to get ahead of herself. She still could hardly believe he didn't believe the rumors, too. The herd before, and Cupid's strong belief in the rumors.. It made her feel like everyone felt that way. But not everyone did, and she felt lucky to have found a friend who didn't. A very handsome, sweet friend, at that. The ebony mare continued to smile, looking out at the view again.

He hoped she never had to see someone who had thought such horrible things about her ever again either. He nodded, and offered Venus a smile. "It's a big world, I'm sure you can avoid him and his brother if you try. I've managed to avoid my old herd just fine so far after all and I left them quite a while ago now." How would they react if the saw him now? What would they think of his horns?... Might they like them, as Venus did? Might more people like them if he just tried to talk once in a while? Maybe... but was it worth the risk of them trying to hurt him for being a freak? He wasn't quite sure.
"Where would you like to go next?" Taur asked after a moment. "I mean... well I've shown you one of my places, so would you like to show me one of yours next?" He would love to see the places in the world Venus thought beautiful. She smiled when she saw beautiful things, and her loveliness became radiance. He wanted to see her smile as often as he could while they traveled together.

She smiled and nodded a bit. "Yes, I'm sure I can avoid them both." And Taur had avoided his herd thus far, but how hard was it to avoid an entire herd? If they weren't looking for him, then she supposed it wasn't hard at all. Hopefully neither of the brothers would be looking for her. She didn't know why they would, but still, she hoped they wouldn't.
Where next? Hmmm... "You want to see one of my places next?" Yes, that seemed fair, but where to take him? Where, hmmm... "Oh! I know just the place," she said with a broad grin. It wasn't a hill like his, merely a small clearing, but it was still beautiful to her. "I really hope you like it, follow me!" She said with a grin before nudging his side with her wing, then turning and bolting down the hill. She didn't know why, but there was just something about running down hills that seemed fun. She laughed a little before slowing down a bit, cantering around a copse of trees at the bottom of the hill and heading towards her clearing. She wasn't sure exactly where it was from the hill, given that she hadn't been there before, but it was a fairly easy thing to figure out. There was that strangely shaped stream there, and those bunch of trees - and the clearing was just a little past it. She turned and offered the sandy stallion a smile. "It isn't too far, nearly there actually."

Oh! Oh she was off! Well, he'd better follow her then! Taur took off after the dark-coated mare, trying to move swiftly at the same time as keeping his balance. He made it to the bottom without actually falling, thankfully, and was glad to slow the pace a little. He had never been fast. Or graceful. Or really very fit in general. Still, this pace was a lot easier.
"Oh? We're close?" Taur grinned, slowing down to a trot. "It's nice that two of our favorite places are so close together, isn't it? Haha. We might have met each other a while ago if we'd been visiting them at the same time." It would have been nice to meet Venus before he had. He wished he'd met her a long long time ago, that they'd been good friends all that time. They would have traveled all over the world together... Or at least they'd have visited all the nice bits, not the mountains. Maybe they would have been everywhere more than once, and shared old happy memories together up on his hill, or wherever it was they were heading now. That would be a lovely history to have... maybe... maybe if he was really lucky, in a few turns of the seasons it would be his history. He could hope.

She slowed to a trot and turned to make sure Taur was still following, then smiled gleefully as she slowed more before walking around a curved line of several trees and into the clearing. The sun forced itself through the tops of the trees, landing on the lush grass in mottled shapes that never seemed to hold still. All around the clearing were trees behind large overgrown bushes, some with colored buds on them, some without. "The flowers don't bloom until later in the season," she said with a touch of disappointment in her voice. She'd hoped that at least some of them would be in bloom, but oh well. "But all the bushes will have flowers, and there are some flowers that will come up in front of the bushes," she explained.
"I love to come here when they're all blooming, in the middle of the day when the sun is out and plays over the grass like this," the ebony mare said as she gazed down at the grass in question, watching with amusement as the sun danced about in mottled shapes. "It's also pretty at night, too, when the moon does the same but it just seems more... more..." She couldn't think of the word. Beautiful? Romantic? She didn't know, but hopefully he understood the feeling all the same. It wasn't as breathtaking as his hill had been, but it was a lovely clearing all the same, and magnificent when the flowers were in bloom.

Taur looked about himself, ears perked up attentively. "Oh it's lovely," he exclaimed happily as they entered the clearing. "We must come back when they're blooming, I'd love to see that!" Venus sounded disappointed, too, and he didn't want her to be unhappy. A plan to come back here when her clearing was at its best ought to make her feel better, right? She did make it sound so lovely, he almost felt he could see it in his mind's eye. He wanted to see it both during the day and during the night. She would look so lovely standing among blooming flowers, striking by day, and mysterious by night.
