Hello, and welcome to the Mountain Road mini-event! This event is mainly designed to boost numbers for the Mountain Road pack. I highly suggest you read up on the pack here to see whether or not it appeals to you because all of the dragons up for grabs in this event must remain in the pack. I've also given them pre-determined ranks, mainly to pad out sections of the pack of that need more members, so be sure to read the intro section to each dragon carefully. Oh, and did I mention that all of the dragons are free? biggrin Starts: Now Ends: June 1 @ 10 pm PST

Rules. 1. You may enter for as many dragons as you want, but you can only win one. (Two, if there aren't enough entries. D: )
2. The purpose of this event is to boost the numbers of the Mountain Road pack, so you'll have to keep your dragon in the pack. No winning a dragon and RPing him/her as a rogue!
3. No plagiarism! Only use your own work.
4. To show me you read the rules and read up on the pack, add a line to the bottom of the form that says Arbre's Mate: ___ and fill in the blank.
5. All of the dragons are free. 3nodding
FAQ. Q: For the pregnant female, should the father be an actual member of the pack or made up? A: Made up.

Although the pack frowns on violence, sometimes it is necessary to defend the pack from predators or dangerous individuals. This is why there are Whetstones; elite scouts, hunters, and defenders, they protect the pack from all would-be assailants. Most Whetstones are northern dragons, due to their large size, but this girl never let that stop her and has shocked everyone who doubted her abilities by becoming one of the toughest Whetstones in the entire pack, even besting Arbre in sparring matches despite his longer experience. And now she's shocked everybody again by getting pregnant. But who's the father? So far she hasn't said, but maybe you can coax her into giving a few hints. Fill in the Blank "You really want to know who the father is that bad? Ha! Well, if you're really going to ____, maybe I'll tell you a thing or two. Try looking among the (Riverstones/Gemstones/Whetstones/Guests). He's the one with the _____ eyes, unless they were _____, and you'll spot him right off because ______. He likes to _____. A lot. It's pretty much all he does, it drives me crazy! "Still, he does have a few nice points. For one thing, he's kind of ____ at times, that's what got to me. Like, I remember when I first saw him, I asked him who he was and where he was going and he said _____ at which point I said ____ and he _____. I didn't know what to say after that. "But hey, don't tell him I told you all that, okay? I'm not sure he knows he's the father, or that I'm pregnant. He'd totally _____ if he found out and then I'd have to _____." A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle. Name: Prompt: Note: She only has two breedings left, and it's up to the winner to home the eggs from this breeding. Sorry, but you can't keep them. Spread the love.

All his life, this dragon has wanted to be a Whetstone, and now he's finally attained that rank. Unfortunately, nothing is going quite the way it should. Arbre is the main dragon in charge of his training, and has remained patient, remembering his own mishaps when he first started out, but that doesn't mean he hasn't given the new recruit a stern talking to. In the mountains, sometimes mistakes can be deadly, and Arbre has no tolerance for anything that fosters disaster. What's in store for this dragon? Will he continue to make dangerous mistakes and trip over his own feet, or will he pull it together and become a model Whetstone? Will he gain the respect of the other whetstones, of the pack? The Mountain Road has no restrictions on breeding, with flings, long term mated pairs and cross-species breedings all treated the same. Nobody knows that better than these two half siblings, who have the same father and very different mothers. The brown northern dragon is much older than the grey mountain, but they still get along well enough, and have found that they have more in common than their father and the markings on their face: they both have a gift for magic. Specifically, the northern male has dream sight and the mountain male has storm sight. Magic Dream Sight.Dream seers, more commonly referred to as "seers," are able to make small predictions about dragons they meet, often by reading their aura. They may make guesses about the dragon's past, present, or future, although often times they will get no more than a general sense. Seers have been known to make inaccurate predictions by misinterpreting symbols they see in dragon's auras and/or messing up the timeline. Wisdom, then, counts just as much as magical strength when it comes to this ability. Storm Sight. This ability is not quite as rare as the others, and is perhaps one of the more useful abilities. Dragons with this ability can sense approaching storms, and predict the weather for the next couple days, but can not guess more than whether it will be good or poor. Large storms are easier to sense, and storm seers do not always make the most accurate predictions, especially about weather that is more than a few days off. It is also not unheard of for storm seers to mistake emotional storms for physical ones, and have been known to predict ill occurrences that have nothing to do with the weather, although this is very rare. Storm seers are well respected, and often turned to for advice. Prompts 1. Nobody's perfect, and you just found out that one of the predictions you made several days ago was inaccurate. What was the prediction and how much havoc was wrecked by the inaccurate reading? How do you feel? Do you laugh it off or do you sulk in a cave? 2. Do you wish you had your brother's magic instead of your own? Why? 3. Sibling rivalry. Explain. 4. In this pack, there are no ranks, although certain dragons may garner more respect than others due to their charisma, hard work, and skill. How do you feel about this? Do other dragons respect you? 5. Hate prompts? Good for you! Surprise me. 3nodding Oh the things I've seen... Which brother are you trying for?: Name: Personality: Prompt:

This gal has no magic and can't fight. This makes her a Riverstone, possibly the most misunderstood rank in the entire pack. More than just a default rank, Riverstones are almost always highly skilled, whether they're craftsmen, hunters, or storytellers, and this girl is no exception. What's her skill? What are the tools of her trade? Edit the image above to show any edits you want made to reflect her skill, but do not post the image anywhere outside this thread. If you don't have an art program (and paint is fine, I'm not judging this on art skill, just creativity), you may describe the edits you want made instead. But pictures are pretty to look at, so I encourage them! I can do anything you can do better! Name: Skill: Edited image/description of edits:

A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle. Name: Tiger-sky Prompt:
"You really want to know who the father is that bad? Ha! Well, if you're really going to grovel like that, maybe I'll tell you a thing or two. Try looking among the Riverstones. He's the one with the luminous blue eyes, unless they were squinting at the sky, and you'll spot him right off because he has this insane marking like a bird. He likes to jump off things and try to fly. A lot. It's pretty much all he does, it drives me crazy!
"Still, he does have a few nice points. For one thing, he's kind of sweet-but-clumsy at times, that's what got to me. Like, I remember when I first saw him, I asked him who he was and where he was going and he said he was a bird, and he was going to go fly around the mountain, at which point I said don't be an idiot and he jumped off a rock and got his head stuck in a gopher hole. I didn't know what to say after that.
"But hey, don't tell him I told you all that, okay? I'm not sure he knows he's the father, or that I'm pregnant. He'd totally jump off a cliff (out of happiness or terror, I'm not sure which) if he found out and then I'd have to scrape him up off the ground and piece him back together."

Oh the things I've seen... Which brother are you trying for?: Northern Brownie! ^^ Name: Auron Personality: Likes having dream sight, but... doesn't really have the neccesary wisdom. Tries to use his gift for his own gain. Occasionally though, he gets something spot on. Prompt: Uh... 5? But it's very similar to 1. wink "You're... Single. Yes, definitely single..." Auron began, nodding. Yup. She was single. Or if she wasn't, she wanted to be, so she could get together with the handsome brown northern dragon before her. Or at least by the end of his little reading, that's what she'd be thinking...
The mountain female before him smiled slightly, but he couldn't quite tell if he was right or not. "You... You have a large family, but you're not very close to them... You... I can tell that you like making things... You're a riverstone! Very talented, too! You... You sculpt things, don't you?" Auron flashed her a brilliant grin. "That's wonderful... So, I was right, wasn't I?"
The female chuckled, and pleasure washed down his spine as she grinned back at him. "I only have a brother, and I'm very close to him, he's in this pack, too. I do NOT like making things, I am a riverstone, but that was a lucky guess. I'm a hunter." she gave him a wry grin.
"Buh, buh, but you are single, though, aren't you?" Auron stammered, flashing her another grin.
"No. I have a mate, I'm very devoted to him, and I just layed our eggs a few days ago," she told Auron bluntly. She turned and gestured over her shoulder brightly at an approaching male. Auron blinked.
"Well, you'll be single soon," he remarked off-handedly. The female glanced back at him in confusion as the male who Auron had just gotten an impulse about approached, with some apologetic news for his mate about his old mate coming back into the area...
Meanwhile, Auron turned to a light green, young northern dragon who was watching nearby with wide eyes. "Ah!" Auron exclaimed, winking at her, "I see, now... It was YOU that I was picking up... You're single, right...?"

Oh the things I've seen... Which brother are you trying for?: Mountain guy. Name: Cumulous Personality: haughty, self important, extravegent. Doesn't seem to get the fact that his 'ability' is kind of... common. Prejudiced against riverstones and likes to use them like servants. rolleyes Prompt: 1 "THE END IS COMING!" Cumulous wailed, waving his tail about in the air to catch people's attention, "THE BIGGEST STORM WE'VE EVER HAD! I, a dragon with the treasured gift of Storm Sight, made the prediction days ago! It will be upon us, soon! We must take cover! Now! Already the riverstones prepare one of the largest caves for us to shelter in! They've brought enough food to last us for weeks! We'll be save there! But we must leave, Now!"
Some of the dragons surrounding him looked a bit anxious, but most had good-natured (if not a bit annoyed) looks on their faces. "Come on, Cumie!" a large brute of a whetstone chuckled, "there's not a cloud in the sky! You've been eating some bad berries, or something."
"Hold on, you said you've stored up meat in a cave?" A female riverstone - not one of Cumulous's followers - interjected, "How much meat? ... THAT'S why there's barely been any game recently! You might have thrown off the whole habitat around here! If you killed too many creatures... they won't have their young in the spring, and there might be a shortage! Have you asked the older dragons about this?! How could you do something like this without approval! This could mean trouble in the spring!" Worried murmurs spread throughout the crowd.
"Trust me," Cumulous frowned urgently, "I SENSED this storm! It'll be the biggest we've ever seen! We MUST take shelter!"
"--biggest I've ever seen!" A passing dragon remarked to the friend who was accompanying him, "I mean it! It's the biggest fight they've ever been in." "Who?" the other dragon asked in confusion. "Tazia and Rumero," the dragon replied, "who else? They've been in some fights before, but then this morning..." He shook his head in astonishment. "It's the biggest spat yet! I mean, they're REALLY going at it! I just about curled up and hid in a hole!"
The dragons passed by, and there was silence as members of the pack slowly peaced together what had happened.
"I-it's coming," Cumulous began again half-heartedly, "M-maybe not today, but... Soon! I swear it!"
The dragons around him scowled and began to disperse, muttering about the nerve of some dragons. "And HEY!" the female riverstone scowled, "tell my fellow riverstones to bring all that meat you had them get out of the cave and distribute it throughout the pack. We might as well make use of as much of it as we can before it spoils."
With that, she stormed off, leaving Cumulous alone.
"But... It's coming," Cumulous insisted quietly to the empty valley, "I know it is..."

World, here I come! Name: Stormfall Why Whetsone?: He wants to protect his pack from enemies ever since his parents were killed by an aggressive pack of bandits. What does he think of Arbre?: Ah, man, Arbre has so much patience...Stormfall respects him so much that he desperately hates disappointing him. What's the biggest disaster so far?: Knocking over three defensive traps, the tumbling stones rolling down the mountainside to knock the others down and nearly hitting other dragons, tearing boulders from the cliff; it took an entire week to roll the boulders off the Road, and it took a lot of dragons to do it! It also deteriorated the Road even further... What's in store for the future?: Stormfall's going to get into an accident that he caused--so far, his accidents don't hurt him--and get a nasty infection. When he manages to finally struggle into healthiness, he will find an inner grace within himself and finally manage to gain a little respect among the Whetstones. Arbre's mate was: Nari

Oh the things I've seen... Which brother are you trying for?: Northern Dragon the Dream seerer Name: Amets Personality: A bit of a meddler, wanting others to be happy and seeing it as his responsibility to make it so. He however doesn't talk much, except to his brother, instead he watches and listens to what is happening around him. Prompt:2...possibly 5.
Amets was sitting by himself watching his brother as he told about an up coming storm and had to with hold a small sigh. He knew he shouldn't but sometimes he wished he was the one with storm sight. It...it...it just seemed so much more useful then what he could do. Sure he could tell things about dragons they met and tell if they were trustworthy or not but it wasn't like they met that many stangers.
Turning his golden eyes away from his brother Amets attention turned to the pregnant Whetstone and had to hid a grin. He knew others wanted to know the father and he had a pretty good idea of who it was but it wasn't his secret to tell. Nodding his head at the female, Amets quickly made his departure wanting some alone time to compose himself before he met up with his brother, no need for him to realise Amets sometime got jealous and wished they had switched abilities.
