This is merely a facade. Behind his smiling mask is a scarred face reflective of his tragic past. When he was younger, his best friend, Hikou, was in love with his fiancee. One day, Hikou let his feelings overcome him. For this, his fiancee felt she was unfaithful and told Chichiri that she didn't deserve to be with him. Believing Hikou had betrayed him, Chichiri confronted his friend in the midst of a flood that killed his family and fiancee. The ground beneath Hikou crumbled and he fell into this rushing river. Despite his seeming betrayal, Chichiri held onto his friend's arm, desperate to save him. However, a log pierced Chichiri's eye and in pain, he let go of Hikou's hand. Chichiri felt that he had killed his own friend and never let the wound heal. To keep others from seeing his scar, he wears an ever smiling mask. He cares deeply for his fellow Suzaku no Seishi, as well as Miaka, though not in a romantic way. In the anime, he is once again confronted by his friend. Hikou blamed Chichiri for everything and vowed to take away everything precious to him. The shock hurt Chichiri deeply, and unable to bring himself to kill Hikou a second time, he tells the other Suzaku no Seishi of his tragic past. Mitsukake gives him words of encouragement that help Chichiri stand up to his friend. After they defeat Hikou, he does not let go of Hikou's hand, who then realizes how kind Chichiri is. He then tells Chichiri the whole story of his fiancee's rejection. As Hikou returns to the water, Chichiri cries over his friend's second death, vowing that he will be reunited with his friend and fiancee in heaven one day.

His Family and Konan Likes: Money and the suzaku warriors Dislikes: the bad people who kill his family *Skills: Special Abilities: He is an adept martial artist, proficient unarmed and with weapons, and street fighter Bio: Tamahome (鬼宿 ?), the first of the seven Celestial Warriors of Suzaku whom Miaka meets, comes into the story when he saves Miaka and Yui from slave-traders. Born in the Hokkan (Bei-Jiang) Village of the Juusou (Shou-Shuang) Prefecture of Kounan (Hong-nan), Tamahome is the eldest son of a large family. He is seventeen years old. His true name is Kishuku Sou (琮 鬼宿 ,Sō Kishuku?) , based on the star Demon (鬼). Tamahome appears the strongest member of the Suzaku warriors. He is an adept martial artist, proficient unarmed and with weapons, and street fighter in addition to being able to channel his ki into energy blasts. When emotionally motivated, he is able to use his ki to increase his strength, speed, and reflexes in combat. Tamahome is also experienced in fencing thanks to being trained by Tokaki. Initially, the story portrays Tamahome as a greedy young man who is only interested in helping others if it means getting paid for it later. It is eventually revealed that his interest in accumulating money derives from trying to support his family. He comes across as cheerful, vain, and comic, but is actually shy and emotionally strong. Throughout the series, he demonstrates himself to be a sincere young man who is willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of others and unwilling to back down from enemies. While he initially rejects Miaka's feelings for him, he comes to reciprocate, though does not pursue his feelings for her until Suboshi kills his family. They develop a strong romantic relationship to the point where Tamahome is able to hear Miaka when she calls for him. Though it is Miaka's wish for them to be together, it is a wish that Suzaku cannot grant; thus, Miaka uses her final wish to restore The Universe of Four Gods and the two are separated when Miaka returns to her own world. However, after Miaka's junior high school graduation, she is introduced to a new classmate of her older brother: Taka Sukunami, who is Tamahome reborn in her world

Name: Hotohori Real Name: Saihitei Seishuku *Age: 18 years old *Birthday: April 2 Personality: Swordmanship Picture:  Other Features: Good in using sword *Love: Miaka,his wife,son and Konan Likes: reading and fashion and the suzaku warriors Dislikes: Bad people that destroying Konan *Skills: Special Abilities: Knows how to use sword and being a good leader in his country(Emperor) Bio: Hotohori (星宿 ?), the fourth Emperor of Kōnan, Emperor Cai Pi (彩賁帝 ,Saihitei?) has a reputatuion for his beauty and his narcissism. He is eighteen years old and was born in Eiyou (Rong-Yang), the capital city of the Konan Empire. As one of the Celestial Warriors of Suzaku, he is able to summon a sword; as such he is a powerful swordsman and has been additionally trained in martial arts since childhood. His true name is Seishuku Shu (朱 星宿 ,Shu Seishuku?) based on the star Brightance (星). Hotohori first hears of the Priestess of Suzaku at a young age and comes to believe that the priestess would be his true love and the one who would love him for himself instead of his title. Upon meeting Miaka, he falls in love with her and becomes willing to do anything for her sake. As such, he becomes a rival to Tamahome for Miaka's affection, but eventually concedes when he realizes that Miaka will only ever love Tamahome. Hotohori eventually marries a woman Houki, who bears a striking resemblance to Nuriko. He is killed by Nakago during the battle between Konan and Kutō, leaving Houki pregnant with his son Boushin. Raised with little warmth, Hotohori appears cold, reserved, and harsh, particularly when acting as the Emperor of Konan, but actually shows himself as a warm, peace-loving and gentle person. Known to be a responsible ruler and capable of dealing with political affairs, Hotohori often places the well-being of his subjects first and forgets his own needs in the process. However, Hotohori has limited understanding of the world as a result of being raised in a sheltered environment. After meeting Miaka and the other Celestial Warriors of Suzaku, he is gradually able to act as himself and finds true friends. In Fushigi Yūgi Eikoden, a young boy named Shu Eian (who often visits a local cemetery) revives Hotohori. During the assembly of the Suzaku Celestial Warriors, he is the last one to return, despite Nuriko's threat to kill him with his sword when he doesn't come out.

Bio: He is a mercurial soul, very masculine with a strong sense of responsibility. He is quick to fight, but shy underneath and easily moved to tears. He is a bit of a misogynist, perhaps this is related to growing up in a family of women. He has a busty and bossy mother, a father who is reserved (a coward), and five older sisters that treat him like dirt. Due to his family life, at age 15, Tasuki left home and became a bandit. His sun sign is Aries, he enjoys brawling, drinking, and flaming Tamahome. He dislikes milk and women (to an extent) and he is skilled in martial arts, speed, and controlling fire using his iron halisen (the fan, which later becomes diamond).
His best friend is Kouji and he was also really close to the leader of the bandits, Hakurou, who gave him the nickname Genro. It was when Hakurou fell deathly ill that Tasuki went to retrieve a cure, but upon his return the bandit leader was already dead and this ugly evil guy, Eiken, took the magic harisen and control in Tasuki's absence (Tasuki was supposed to be the new leader). This is where we encounter Tasuki for the first time vol. 4 chap 20, or episode 14. He kidnaps Miaka and uses her as a bargaining chip only to end up helping her, yet he doesn't reveal that he is the Suzaku Warrior Tasuki, until later. He is very protective of his priestess and treats her like a kid sister. Chiriko also looks up to him as a role model of sorts.

Name: Yui Hongo Real Name: Hongo Yui *Age: 15 years old *Birthday: Oct. 26 Personality: Intelligent, mature, passionate person at heart, tends to see the world in black and white terms and is easily infuriated with perceived betrayal, confident and bold with everything she does, but longs for someone to take care of her. Picture:   Other Features: Opposite of Miaka, but gets along with her well. Likes: Miaka Dislikes: Being betrayed (especially by Miaka) Special Abilities: Excellent academic and athletic achievements. Speaks English and can read Ancient Chinese. Also Seiryuu's Miko. Bio: Yui Hongo is the Priestess of Seiryū . An intelligent and mature girl, she is a tenth grade student and Miaka Yūki's best friend. A passionate person at heart, she tends to see the world in black and white terms and is easily infuriated with perceived betrayal. Yui is confident and bold with everything she does, but longs for someone to take care of her. It is revealed in the manga that Yui cut her hair to avoid all the attention she was getting from boys. Yui is initially transported to "The Universe of Four Gods" with Miaka, but almost immediately returns to the real world and becomes the one who reads the book in order for events in the world to progress. However, she becomes trapped in the book while trying to help Miaka return to the real world. Afterwards, bandits capture Yui and knock her unconscious. When she regains consciousness, she believes she has been raped and, distraught, attempts to kill herself. Nakago rescues her and convinces her that Miaka is responsible for Yui's misfortunes, leaving Yui unaware that Nakago had saved her before the incident involving the bandits and that she had not been raped at all. He manipulates Yui into becoming the Priestess of Seiryū, convincing her that it will allow Yui to take revenge on Miaka. She eagerly agrees, swearing to fight Miaka and to take away her lover, Tamahome, whom Yui has become attracted to. After the events of the "Universe of the Four Gods", Yui enters a long-term relationship with Tetsuya Kajiwara, a friend of Keisuke Yūki, who fell in love with her while following her journey when reading the book.
