What do you guys think? If legend of drizzt - and I mean all thirteen books - were made into movies, who would you want producing it? And what actors would you want. How bad do you think the script writer would slaughter it?

I think the people who did MirrorMask should get in on that if it were to happen, maybe them or perhaps the guys that did Vampire Hunter D- bloodlust and (I think) Highlander- search for vengeance, I think that art style might do the series some good justice. Yeah, I think the series would do very nicely as a set of animated movies, I might almost go so far as to say it might be best that way. Though Live action would also have its very nice pluses~ such as having a better chance at circulation.

I'd also like it if the people working on it actually knew the series, some directors and script writers are known to have never even heard of what they are adapting prior to the project they start. As for screwing up the script, while we all enjoy the tiny details, the subplots, and little nuances... you can only fit so much in one movie at a time~ so I think even we should forgive them a little bit if they leave out some things.

I don't really think it should be made into a movie, ever. Too many people would complain about it, since some people don't seem to understand how hard it is to get things perfect. And a lot of people would want that. I agree with Kabuto that we should be able to forgive them.

As for directors and actors and stuff... I'm not really familiar with many actors or directors (I'm the kind of person who watches a movie for interests' sake, not who's playing in it or directing it), but as long as eye colours and hair colours were right (at least hair colours, there's really no excuse for those being wrong; it's called hairdye), and the director/writer/producer/whatever gave it the right vibe, then I think I would be reasonably happy.

Yah, I really don't know any actors names either. I think, if the director had read the book and such, that it would come out well.

I can think of a laundry list of directors who SHOULD NOT direct (I know some thanks to my brother's obsession over directors). I agree with Hane on this. I do not want the series made into movies. Wear colored contacts for the eyes--that's simple.

If they did the movies, they'd butcher all of it and Drow skin IRL would look bizarre and not how all of us conceive it as.

They could not make it into a movie, there is to much information to fit into the movie, all the nerds would complain and complain and complain and complain about this and that and it would never be accepted as a movie.

I think the only way for the legend of Drizzt get on any type of screen would be a tv series. The tv series would have to be animated because no actor would hold on to the series long enough to finish it, and if they did then we would probably complain because they lost the touch of the character, and then that actor would leave, and then the viewers would complain because that character held the series together. The only way for this to work would be to sign like a 20 year contract with a tv station to show an animated tv series. That way they can get everything perfect and not so many complaining nerds. But something good would come out of all of this cool a fantasy channel cool

Then maybe, just maybe they'd stop putting fantasy on scifi channel and other more random channels at random times. Yeah, if I'm going to watch scifi channel~ it's because I want to see crazy science and aliens- not dragons and elves... unless those are names used by ALIENS~! Sometimes they can mix pretty well and fit on the same channel (Underworld.) other times it just doesn't fit (ERAGON?!).

And for a while ABC or something had a fantasy series, but basically no one knew about it for a real long time unless it was by accident.

I think that the makers of Lord of the Rings should make Legend of Drizzt into a movie, and have the character who played the elf prince in Hellboy 2 or Wesley Snipes to play drizzt (he did good as a dual wielder in the movie), there are so many that could play the characters, it's so hard to choose gonk

I wouldn't want it turned into a movie. I am not a purist, for I know that it can't be prfect. But the thing is, I don't want the movie to wreck things. Like the harry Potter movies are kind of destroying the vision I had of the books. And since these books are so close ot me, I wouldn't want my vision to be destroyed like most movies based off books do.
Now if it was made then Peter Jackson is the only one i could see doing it near correctly, since he was so close to the Lord of the Rings books when he made the movies. And the prince from Hellboy 2 might be good for Drizzt, but I don't think Wesly snipes should play him, no offense Zace

How would everything work? It just doesn't really make sense, because the signing and all drow language and the human language and all that, like would the drow language be english in the homeland and them books, then change when Drizzt got to the surface or something? It confuses me, only if the people don't screw it up and say it was the same language. That just wouldn't make sense... Unless they start on Streams of Silver... Then this whole rant is pointless... Meh.

Well, they could speak in different languages, then have subtitles in "common", where "common" would be whatever language people are watching it in. So, we would watch it in English, but if they dubbed and subtitled English parts for Japanese viewers, "common" would be Japanese.

A Drizzt movie would be bad because think about it, there is no way a human actor could pull off Drizzt. He's an elf and that usually bring to mind very slender features which would mean two things. Either A. the actor would be a white guy w/ slender features painted black or B. an african actor w/o slender features. Maybe I'm wrong and there is and african out there with elf like features but i personally have never met any.
