Hey, right now, I am sitting at home watching TNG episodes, and as I type this, I just got smacked right up side the head.

Now to the point...

You know how Q has been supossedly trying to stop Captain Picard, and his crew from exploring deep into space.

But what I realize is , if Q was trying to stop Picard, he could have obliterated the Enterprise, and sent the crew back to Earth.

Q has been "testing" the crew of the Enterprise for various reasons.

(This is my own opinion, not what I think is the truth and nothing but the truth.)

One of the reasons Q has been testing everyone is it wants to see how they can handle a tough maybe even dangerous decision, and to see that they can go beyond their own capabilities.

Another reasoning I have is, a lot of the time, when Q interrupts, he challenges the crew to think differently, to change perception, to see if they can switch actions to comply with difficult situations.

Q seems like he loves to hinder progress,(And he probably does, to an extent.) but there was always a way thorugh what Q could do. But Q just wanted to challenge their way of thinking, if he wanted to stop The Enterprise, then he would have done better than what he had done in the episodes.

But, in some other episodes, like on Voyager, Q has proven that, he might know everything, but there are other Qs that know much more than just knowledge.

So, it shows that, yes Q can be annoying, and that it chooses to be, but it does show that Q does have some form compassion for the Enterprise and her crew.

(Once again, this is what I think, but I will NOT say that I am correct.)

Q does say things to this extent during the final episode. He says that he's been testing them and that "they've" [Meaning him, I'd bet. Why would other Q care?] been watching him.

I'd agree that he's trying to force them to think differently because they have, as he puts it "potential." Maybe we need a Q nowadays.

And I think having Q on Voyager wasn't as mind-boggling as when he was with Picard. He wanted Janeway to have a child with him and then take care of his child. Ha. Typical man.

I still love him though.

Good point.

Well, It always seemed to me that Q was just toying with them for his own fun...like how you'll play with ants or fake throw a bone for you dog to go hunt in vain. I believe Picard called Q out on this point in some episode. And to an extent, Q implied Yes
