prompt You've just entered Soul Society and would you look at that! People running around, little kids, teenagers, adults, old people, you name it! What you did notice was how they were like ... a family which immediately made you go all nostalgic about your own family... though you can't remember much but you DO remember having one, you remember the feeling of belonging somewhere, finding somebody after a long day to talk to in your own home. So what do you do? Went off to find this place; this family. But how do you do it? note a 'family' can be composed of characters you've made up or other people's characters. if you choose to make them characters you've made up/originals, then it's a solitary quest. if not, then it's a group RP. if you choose the latter, then you have to choose the other two quests to do for the SQRP

Katsumi spent the whole day wondering around Rukongai. Again. He felt the need to get to know the whole place as well as those who were there before him for some reason. He knew that he could be being too thorough, but he also knew that it's better to be safe than sorry. He liked to get used to the environment quickly. He sat under a shade in exhaution. He had been walking around rukongai for days now. He closed his eyes for a second, and opened them again as he heard his stomach growl. It wasn't exactly lunchtime yet, but he already had breakfast. Katsumi decided to ignore it for the time being. He stood up and started to walk again. After more walking, he ended up in the marketplace. It was completely packed with all sorts of people, just like the marketplaces in the human world. Katsumi loved people. He managed to learn the value of people while he was wondering around the human world as a ghost. He felt dead lonely, since nobody saw him, let alone talk to him. He looked around the marketplace and took a quick look at what people were selling. They were selling all sorts of food; fruit, vegetables, rice, meat, everything. Suddenly, he came to a halt as he saw a pile of oranges. He wasn't usually crazy about oranges, but he was hungry, and those oranges looked especially juicy compared to others. Saliva built up in his mouth. He gulped and murmered, "Well, one won't hurt, I guess.."

Koyama, in his usual state of mind, had been drifting through the streets of Rukongai thinking of nothing in particular. The streets were too familiar and he had walked them several times over, in his heart there was an aching that could not be eased by any amount of anything. Absentmindedly traveling had become his way of life in Rukongai, a loss of purpose and motivation. Watching the crowds of people flow and move like that of waves of an ocean, he was slowly reminded of past fragments he could recall just barely. It seemed that while he was alive there was a happy time in his memory, but it always involved a second person who's face he could not ever recall. A smiling and gentle face with soft glowing features that emitted such a warmth that even now struck him to the core... Except, the only frustration he would have now is remember exactly who this person was. He had a faint idea of course, but he wondered if perhaps that was merely wishful thinking. Even after death, for such a long number of years, he was still only able to forcefully remember this much. Perhaps he was shutting it out? He had secluded himself since death and entrance to Rukongai, in a sense so deeply stung by the reality of separation....
Koyama's thoughts were abruptly interrupted as he seemed to have nearly walked into a stall through his aggravation in attempting to remember more than just a shadow of a face. Now directly faced against a neatly piled group of bright oranges that seemed to smile up at him in the morning sunshine. He quietly stared at them for a moment, perhaps mentally telling them 'Don't smile up at me...' with his usual calm sternness of an expression.
Sighing, it seemed Koyama would give in to the alluring natural beauty of the oranges. Buying two, he turned around to be then faced by another adversary: a very hungry looking guy? He wasn't quite sure how to respond to this, but since Koyama already an orange sitting in each hand... He slowly and awkwardly held one out to the young man.

Katsumi rummaged in his sleeve. He made a face, and cheked the other one. "Oh, crap." He was pretty sure that he had money somewhere in his sleeves, but they weren't there. They must've fallen out of his sleeves. He mumbled, "I really need to get a wallet, or get used to using this stupid sleeve as a pocket." Katsumi froze as another thought hit him. "... and a job. Or a way to get money."
"Well, so much for oranges." Katsumi was about to walk away when a man handed him an orange. Katsumi blinked. It was actually quite an awkward sight, although he couldn't exactly pinpoint the exact reason. The man had a long, black ponytail, and he was wearing blue and black clothes. He looked quite stern and intimidating, but the orange he was holding out completely contradicted the idea of "stern and intimidating". But Katsumi didn't dislike the man at all. He actually liked the shady looking stranger in front of him. He was trying to give Katsumi an orange, not because he was particularly significant in the man's life, but just because he saw that someone was hungry. Katsumi looked around him before taking the orange slowly off the stranger's hand. A painful silence followed. Katsumi cleared his throat before he smiled and said, "Well, that was perfect timing. I was just getting hungry." He fiddled with the orange. "Thank you." He stared at the orange. The orange seemed so happy with its bright orange color and its plump round shape. He stared down at it some more, and looked up into the stranger's face as he realised that the awkward silence was coming back. "Well, I should introduce myself. My name's Katsumi. Fujimoto Katsumi. Call me whatever you like." He offered a handshake.

Koyama waited patiently as the guy seemed to analyze the situation before taking the orange he offered. As it was soon relieved from his hand, he nodded at the other's thanks without much change in his expression. Not exactly sure what was to be done now, Koyama simply looked down at the one orange he had which continued to smile brightly at him in all its orange glory. He mentally sighed over this, silly oranges... They were simply too happy for him and yet he wondered whether he would enjoy the taste.
As the young man began to speak again, Koyama lifted his head and made a small nod. He had not been thinking quite much about this particular guy, since he was not very familiar with making friends. It seemed it was not one of his greatest interests. He could not recall very many times in which he made friends. Most were usually a coincidence in meeting... And it seemed that these were one of those occasions. He always seemed to give this type of thing up to chance, and apparently today he was lucky? He didn't view it as luck though. This Fujimoto was friendly enough, though perhaps a little absentminded. "Koyama Yuichi, nice to meet you Fujimoto-san." In which Koyama gave another nod of acknowledgment. But upon offering a handshake, he wasn't quite sure what to do about this since he was from a time in which this was an unfamiliar gesture. Quite uncertain as to what was should be done here, Koyama eyed Fujimoto's hand for a moment with a question mark-like expression written across his face.

Katsumi waited for quite some time. His hand twitched as he wondered if he should just drop his hand to the side and greet him the normal way, or.. whatever. He couldn't analyze Yuichi's expression properly. Maybe he didn't know how to shake hands? Katsumi did figure out that the people here were from all sorts of eras, after all. But what if he knew how to shake hands? That would be sort of rude. Katsumi knew that Yuichi was older than him, which made him extra careful when it came to manners and etiquette.
Finally, Katsumi couldn't stand the awkwardness and embarrasment. Besides, his arm was getting sore. He dropped his hand to the side, and said, "Hello Koyama-san. Nice to meet you." It was better to be safe than sorry, although he was sort of embarassed. In fact, he was turning a little bit pink. He didn't stop smiling, nevertheless. Katsumi had a strong theory that smiles are always the best way to show hospitality.
Katsumi pulled out a small swiss army knife from his sleeve, and cut the orange. Except it took quite some time. The knife was tiny, after all. He cut the orange into quarters, and bit into one piece. [found]

Koyama wasn't quite sure whether he should ask about the hand thing, but since Fujimoto had already put his hand back he decided it was better to leave things the way they were for the moment. Fujimoto was a strange kind of guy, Koyama thought but not unpleasant. Perhaps socially awkward? But at seeing the guy glow a slight pink, he felt it was at least better to know than not. "Ah... What was the hand for?"
In any case, holding the orange in hand and watching his new companion begin eating his orange in the middle of the street, he felt that they should probably move elsewhere. "Ah... Should we go some place to eat the oranges?" Not really knowing what else to say, Koyama being unfamiliar with interacting on such a level with others. Without saying much else, he simply began to walk in a direction hoping that this would give momentum to the flow of things. It was a nice day and the sun was shining brightly in the clear sky, maybe sit somewhere nice under a shady tree? He often liked to do this when enjoying some fruit, though he usually never had any company. In the awkwardness of the silence, Koyama tried to focus his attention on the touch of the orange in his hands. But this was not the right way to be, shouldn't he ask Fujimoto something about himself? Perhaps get to know this strange boy a little more?
"How are you?" Was the only question that came to mind. What do you ask someone you just met? Koyama was certainly confused by this. He never had anything interesting to say, or what he thought people would not find interesting as regular conversation. He was always thinking to much on this and that. But he was somewhat glad that he had some sort of company on such a beautiful day, it would distract him from certain thoughts.

He touched his face with the back of his hand. It was hot, as expected. His face was probably burning red. Koyama then asked carefully, "Ah.. What was the hand for?" Katsumi looked up at Koyama's face, and examined it carefully. "Well.. it's a greeting, I guess. When we meet someone new or something like that, we hold each other's hands and shake." He paused for a moment, and added, "I thought you were refusing my offer to shake hands, so I just dropped my hand back to my side." He wished that his hand would disappear at this very second.
As Koyama asked Katsumi if he wants to move, he nodded with a smile, and stood up. He walked next to Koyama as he started walking. He was a pretty stern guy, but Katsumi actually liked him. He couldn't pinpoint the exact reason, but there was a certain positive aura coming out from him. Maybe it was just Katsumi. Who knows? He looked around for a nice place to sit and eat the orange, and his eyes wandered to the sky, almost by itself. The weather was brilliant. The azure sky was completely clear, and the sun shined in a moderate heat. This weather was rare in the cities. The city skies were always either somewhat gray or almost covered with bad-looking clouds. The sun was also shining too brightly or hiding behind the clouds.
As he spaced out while watching the sky, Koyama suddenly asked, "How are you?" Katsumi's face froze at the sudden question. 'how are you' was always a hard question for him; he could never figure out what to say. He decided to say the first thing that came up to his mind. "I'm feeling a little bit warm, but I'm fine." He looked at Koyama into his eyes and smiled. "Thank you, Koyama-san."
