A town adjacent to New Salem, where the Institute it located. It's a rather small and quiet town, considering which state it's in. Deitra Burton resides here in a small apartment building in Granite Springs, a small hamlet in Somers. Due to the low crime rate, there hasn't been much trouble with the MRD, but she knows for a fact there are Church of Humanity members located near her.

Deitra strode down the avenue - a dangerous game she played each night, seeing if the MRD was going to show up and try to haul her away. The streetlights reflected off the windows of the houses she passed. "Looks like it might be another quiet night," she thought, hands in her pockets. Wearing civilian clothes to ward off the fall chill in the air; brown boots that went to her knees, a short khaki skirt and a long black coat over a white blouse. The coat didn't really match, she knew, but it was the only warm coat she owned.

(Time for the Hippie to show up, I assume? xd )
The cowboy rode his mare at a slow walk down a road, thankful it was night and there weren't many cars or gawking people. He sorely missed the northern part of the state, which was more woodsy than the cities, but with MRD rumored to be way up, he figured it was his duty to keep people from getting hurt, at least. Although he had heard the MRD was fairly active here, he hadn't seen much to confirm that. Riding along, he saw nothing out of the ordinary- just a lone woman walking down the road. He tipped his hat and suddenly noticed her hair and eye color. Well, well... He thought, wondering if this mutant was friendly or vicious. "Howdy," He said, tipping his hat once again and pulling his horse to a stop. "Might I ask what a lady like yourself is doing out alone so late? It may not be safe." He said, choosing his words carefully.

(What do you mean by skin tone? Her skin's normal, it's her eyes and hair that aren't.)
"Can I ask why you'd care? I think you'd have enough problems to worry about, riding something like that in town," she retorted, barely glancing up at him. She had tried dying her hair numerous times, but nothing ever seemed to actually stain. A bush nearby trembled slightly, only noticeable to Deitra, who readied it for a fight in case the stranger was sent by the MRD. It wouldn't be the first time they had forced mutants to capture others, after all.

(Dammit! gonk I couldn't remember exactly, so I just guessed. I shall edit...)
"I'm just suggesting it may not be the best idea." He replied, raising his hands to show he meant no offense. "There's mighty high MRD activity here lately, or so I've heard. Haven't seen much yet, though." He put in. "I reckon it'd be safer to travel in groups."

Deitra shrugged. "I live here and I certainly haven't seen any. Whomever your source is has some serious flaws," she remarked with a dry laugh. "The only people who cause trouble lately is that Church of Humanity group nearby, so I'd watch out for them," she added, picking up her pace. She glanced at the stranger, narrowing her eyes. "And I hardly need someone to protect me, I can assure you," she continued, her tone clipped.

"Never heard of 'em." He confessed, turning his horse about and walking it slowly alongside her. "I'd be much obliged if you could fill me in on them, m'am." He requested. "It's kinda my deal to keep folk from causing too much trouble."

"Oh, really," she remarked, raising her brow slightly. "The Church of Humanity is another one of those damn anti-mutant groups. Pretty basic. Their symbol is a open red palm. They don't cause too much trouble, just typical harassment so far. But if the MRD ever moves in, they could be more than just an annoyance," she told him, sighing and brushing her hair out of her eyes. "So, I'm guessing you're from some bad western movie, am I right?" she asked.

"I see. Well then, thankee for the fill-in." He said, chuckling at her question. "Sort of. Born down in the southwest. The cowboy way's been in the family for years, so I reckoned I might as well follow suit. Name's Tyler." He said, sweeping off his hat and bowing from horseback. "Tyler Cobb."

"Deitra Burton," she replied reluctantly, rolling her eyes at his mannerisms. "You haven't been in the city too long, have you? Not that this counts as one, but still." She shrugged, shaking her head. "You're going to get eaten alive, that's for sure," she added brightly, as if the idea cheered her somewhat.

"I reckon I can take care of myself, little lady." Tyler replied, chuckling again. "Actually, I've been up north. It's nice up there, all the woods and open spaces. I care for it much more'n I do for here, but I heard the city could use my help." He explained, shrugging.

"Little lady?" Deitra repeated slowly. She considered tying him and his horse up for the night, but dismissed it in the next moment, with some small regret. "Well, here's not the city, so I have to say you got yourself a little lost," she informed him.
