Username: -_- Kichiro Oda-_-
Character Name: Hans Fritz
Age:1,509
Race:Red Dragon Chimagin- Austrian.
Sex:Male
Appearance:
Hans Fritz stands a whopping 8' tall and has the muscular build of a tank. In the verse from which he hails, that's the role he's often fulfilled and it shows. 400lbs of muscle line his bones that would make him capable of superhuman feats even if he wasn't of an evolved race. The top of his body is capped in platinum blond hair, worn short, and typically spiked.
There are subtle scars all over his frame, left from sword slashes, burns, bullets, and all manner of injuries that he's sustained during his life-time. Magical healing has kept them from dominating his appearance, however they can be seen when up close. His skin has been toned rather darkly from many days in the sun, but he was once very pale.
Personality:
Hans has a rather complex personality. Most that would see him or talk to him for brief amounts of time, would see a simple brick wall that functions with about as much personality as one. Having lived so long, Hans has no desire to get others to think any different from him.
Chances are, they'll just end up dead anyway. Along these lines of thought, the millennium long merc has no problem helping people to their destination of death.
Beneath this stone-like personality however, the man has a profound respect for life and humanity. Hans won't key others into this typically, not wanting to come across as weak, and often not understanding his own respect for life. It stems from many camaraderies with men and women over hundreds of years, killing them, saving them, and doing whatever the job required. Even though it was all a job, Hans learned to sympathize with suffering, and has a hidden desire to rid the weakness of others with his strength.
History: -A millennium and a half won't be covered easily.-
Hans didn't grow up in Austria, even though that's his national origin, but rather in Germany. His father and mother were Chimagin, and had fled Austria as the humans there did not trust their alien abilities. The Germans were still a large mixture of kingdoms, often serving as mercenary forces for some of the surrounding nations, and had no trouble taking in these born warriors to aid them in their gambles for power.
Hans doesn't remember much about either parent, being something around 13, when they were separated. His father and mother were sent on a campaign to the Muslim countries in West Africa, through Spain, and that was the last he'd heard of them.
Hans was taken by the German mercs, that eventually came to be known as the Landesknecht some centuries later, but many were composed of Chimagin. They trained him with the use of steel weapons, just as steel was coming to dominate the metals of earlier ages. As he got larger, they realized that he was one of their Chimagin brethren, and started taking advantage of it. When their camps would move, the young man would shoulder more equipment than their mules or pack animals could.
As "normal" men and women died, the mercenary troop that originally took him would continue to become made even more of Chimagin. When in a skirmish with Italian forces, hired by one of the southern German princes, Hans was brutally injured through some arrows ripping him up, he suddenly pulled parts of the mountain on the Italian troop. Needless to say, they stopped firing their arrows, and Hans passed out from the sudden exertion of his root Chakra which he'd never used before. Opening that gate however, unlocked the fullness of his Chimagin blood, and he stopped aging from that point.
That was at about 28 years of age.
The first crusade would happen a few decades later, and his troop would be called upon to drive into Turkey. Since humankind had been vigilant against those they did not understand in many places, the Chimagin were sparse outside of Hans' troop in Germany, and they easily decimated many of the Middle Eastern armies that came against them.
It was during his travels from Germany to Jerusalem for the first time, that Hans began to experiment with knightly armor and weapons. A man with supernatural strength to start, the added armor and likeness of these weapons made him extremely formidable in combat.
The Germans troop withdrew from the Middle East upon request of a wealthy Englishman to train their forces for war with France, and Hans' brothers had no problems leaving the desert for money. They sailed the Mediterranean back to England, and were only there a short time before some of the Crusader states began to fall back to the desert peoples.
The next few centuries would be nothing but war, training national troops, and heading on following crusades. During this time, Hans had made friends with some of his brothers and sisters that he continually traveled with. However, as more died around him, he began to become cold to the outside world. Any person that tried to get to know him, would be shunned, and given only small nods or responses.
Hans also began to disrespect religion, seeing it only as a means to justify war, because that was the only thing he'd ever experienced it as. While Hans was never outright irreligious, he couldn't believe in a God that allowed his Chimagin brothers and sisters to so mercilessly slaughter men and women for profit. He began to see things as 'just the way the earth works' and became very functional in his approaches to life.
As centuries passed, Hans began to come to grips with the fact that he'd outlive almost all his friends or associates. Even many of his Chimagin brethren that traveled with him were not so keen on survival as he was, and Hans would idly chatter with people at bars or towns he came across. It was never very deep, because his mind was so bent on the practices of violence and war, but he'd attempt to at least learn a little about the people he was living and killing around.
He also found that women of different cultures had different ways in bed, and the long time warrior had no qualms about experiencing the pleasures women had to offer. Some would try to talk about love to him, which only angered him, and he never staid with one for long. In fact, Hans could never have been said to keep a lover or girlfriend. They were to be used as a means of relaxation between times of combat.
After the last Crusade carried Hans through the Byzantine Empire, Hans worked with a few down into Turkish territory, where the emperor that ruled Egypt and Syria employed them for border guard duties against their own Europeans. Hans wound up killing some of the people that grew up around him, and it only further ingrained in him the sense that the strong would always end the suffering of the weak.
His Company was eventually pulled back to Germany to the raising Landesknecht and began training in the evolving use of firearms. The Chimagin typically didn't like the weapons, finding them unreliable, and often more times messier than their swords or pikes. However, when the French started decimating armies across continental Europe, the Company was glad they had trained with them. Hans had learned how to replace flesh ripped with musket fire with stone, and he became even more of a literal tank for militaries that sought his services.
Hans' Company split, after having survived for over a millennium, it was hard for him to cope with. However, when the French armies plowed over the Prussians, they had opted to spread across Europe to keep from being killed. Hans found refuge with the Russians, and aided them in pushing the French back West. After this time, he'd settle in Germany, and work for various states as their highest security. He would live to see the raise of the German empire and unification of the states by the Chimagin Bismark, who took Hans into the first world war.
Trench warfare sucked.
Hans was often called to replace leadership in the front lines against France and England. It was during these years, that Hans learned to avoid fighting where machine guns and poisonous gas could kill him. English soldiers would talk of a monster ripping through the trenches, and it was often a Chimagin that came through the rock and wood they'd built. Hans was one of them.
It was during these years that he truly began to hate organized violence. Hans hated coming across the disease infected soldiers that he'd have to slay, the mountains of bodies on the ground, and the true nastiness of war.
When the German empire fell, Hans decided to help rebuild the nation that'd given him work for so long. However, he increasingly became popular at bars, and staid far from any leadership positions. Hans rather enjoyed the company of common people compared to soldiers who he knew would have shorter lives. When the Nazi's came to power, Hans tried to get out of the country. He didn't want to have any part of more religious prosecution, having had his fill in the Crusades and earlier wars.
Hans fled the country and headed back to the Middle East, where he helped secure a land for many of those religiously prosecuted. He was paid well for his aid in establishing Israel, and lived comfortably as a solitary merc. He began taking various jobs as he headed East, killing one person, protecting another. He loved the security jobs, because it was easy to watch some rich b*****d die and only have to serve as his babysitter for awhile.
Near the modern age, Hans' reputation as a merc had traveled pretty far, and his size was renowned in the areas which he lived in. A remaining feudal structure in Japan was suffering from large Ronin uprisings, where once honorable clans of samurai got power drunk from Chimagin leaders dominating humankind, and the Emperor there sought out the best warriors that money could buy.
Hans was intrigued when he learned that many warriors did not use firearms, save for the Ronin, who he would be paid to put down. In his work there, he got to know a fiery young man by the name of Kichiro, who rose to a position of leadership despite his adopted nature to the ruling clan. The Oda Clan which served as the Shogunate there wanted to see Kichiro, once a shinobi and now a leader come to their fullest potential, and contracted Hans to make sure that Kichiro would come to that potential.
Hans got his fill of Japanese, sometimes Chinese, and other women around the area as well as plenty of coin. Kichiro vanished for a time, so that Hans simply went around smashing Ronin again, but reappeared with knowledge of an entirely new world. (Gaia) When Kichiro was charged with coming to Gaia and spreading the Shogunate's ideals, they asked if Hans among with many others would aid him. Hans didn't see anything wrong with experiencing more cultures while getting paid, and went with them.
Most of the people around Hans were terrified of his size and power, or lusted after it. But they really couldn't relate to him. So, Hans was generally quiet save for the moments he decided it was time to relax. Once in Gaia however, he decided the arm of the Shogunate no longer would require his services, and went back to small time security work.
After the new Shogunate became more about colonization, Kichiro and the leadership decided they really didn't need him either. So, they gladly let Hans go, and offered to help him with any monetary needs that he might come across later. He played an instrumental role in giving them land to occupy, and were grateful for that.
The many bars across Gaia provided Hans with easy jobs as security, and he began back into a life of practicality. He lived because he was strong, and enjoyed what he could. A rock that was shaped only slightly by the ages, but standing firm all the same.
