" StarClan have granted me nine lives, and I must find out why. Cats are dying, and I can't do anything to stop it here. If the Clans are going to survive I have to leave. This is where my journey begins." -Cinderpaw

Chapter 1: A Miracle
Riverstone licked the top of a small kits head nudging her slightly. The gray kit was curled up in a mossy nest in the medicine cat den. "I'm so sorry Riverstone. Cinderkit isn't going to make it to dawn." Rabbitwhisker whispered.
Light poured into the medicine cat den as Rabbitwhisker came to. She had been sitting with Cinderkit all night and must have dozed off. She looked around wildly when she noticed that the tiny gray kit was missing. Running out of the den, she spotted the kit, the morning light glistening on her fur as she chased a beautiful butterfly.

Chapter 2: My First Day
Cinderkit stood up from her nest, shaking her ruffled fur. Today was the day! She was becoming an apprentice today! She almost couldn't contain herself as she bundled over onto Dawnkit. "Watch it!" Dawnkit hissed. "Sorry!" Cinderkit mumbled. Dawnkit leaped playfully onto her sister and the two kits tussled right into Honeymint's newborn litter. "Be more careful, you almost hit them. You two need to have your apprentice ceremony soon." she mewed. "Its today!" Dawnkit chimed. "Good, now go outside before you wake Whitekit, Windkit, and Firekit." Honeymint fretted. The two she-kits headed outside to find Minnowkit dragging a large rabbit from the fres kill pile. "Want to share?" she asked them. "Sure." Cinderkit replied. Dawnkit took a bite out of the rabbit and then Cinderkit. "Your ceremony is today too right?" Dawnkit asked the gray she-cat. "Yep." Minnowkit answered. "Look, there's Fallingstar!" Cinderkit called. She finished her portion of the rabbit quickly and joined her mother beneath highledge where she groomed her pelt until it shined. "We are gathered here today with three kits of ThunderClan. They wish to become warriors but first must become apprentices. Minnowkit, from this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Minnowpaw. You will be mentored by Ravencry. Dawnkit, from this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Dawnpaw. Sunbell will mentor you. Cinderkit, from this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Cinderpaw. Dustytail, my loyal deputy, will be your mentor. Frostkit, from this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Frostpaw. Flamecrest will be your mentor." Fallingstar finished. Cinderpaw touched noses with Dustytail. The ThunderClan deputy was usually strict, but as Cinderpaw stared up at her she could detect the warmth of forgoten memories in her gaze. "We're going to explore the borders today, are you ready?" Dustytail asked. "Yes!" Cinderpaw said excitedly, "Are Dawnpaw and Minnowpaw coming?" "Of course we are you mouse-brain." Minnowpaw joked from behind her.
Cinderpaw tucked her paws comfortably under her chest inside the stone hollow. The sun was setting, casting scarlet rays across camp. Cinderpaw had just finished a mouse after patroling the borders. She hadn't forgoten to get her nest in the apprentice's den though. She finally made her way into the dark den, and curled into a tight ball between Dawnpaw and Minnowpaw, and she couldn't dream of a better first day.

Chapter 3: Disaster
Cinderpaw rose stiffly from her nest, shaking scraps of moss from her pelt. Dawnpaw was gone already, though her scent said she hadn't left to long ago. Cinderpaw noticed Frostpaw from across the den, his white tail tip twitching over his nose. Next to her Minnowpaw breathed deeply and shifted restlessly.
