Well, it couldn't exactly be helped. Like waking up in the mornings, he just had to do it. The market he had come across while out on his usual walk was a fascinating thing to watch, even if his plans to buy were minimal. He didn't mind. The quirky stall owners trying to catch them into buying with silver-tongued phrases, the mixture of colour, texture and produce on each of the wooden stands. It was a hive of activity and it was electric. He wasn't used to it being this lively around the adults, the small group of children that frequented his district was about as lively. He stopped, running a hand through his dark hair absently, braiding the loose ends in a distracted manner as he watched a fruit vendor go about his business.

"Maybe..." He pursed his lips, half torn between purchasing a piece of fruit for the novelty of it. He hadn't really thought about it in a while. But he did feel the need to buy something or do something productive. Kendama could only be amusing for so long, then it got to the point where smashing the taunting wooden toy was the only thing on his mind. Unfortunately, the wall hadn't been hard enough. He mourned the fact it had come out with minimal damage, even though his little friend had gone home early that day nursing his attacked kendama.

A pout crept on his lips at the trail of thought, before he lost it and craned his neck, reaching up on tiptoes for a second to try and see the stalls in front of him over the small bustling of spirits. Ugh, nothing. He shrugged and walked forward, finding no harm in doing so. Walking was good for you anyway, he was being pro-active, even if he felt like his wallet was whining at him to leave.

" Aiko come here! " With the little money Takara had been able to gather from her work, she was out outfitting the youngest and newest addition to her household. Their mother had also given them a few extra coins to spend on themselves, that woman always seemed to have extra cash and they always just seemed to get by with the essentials. Takara shrugged, she was glad that she had found a small job and could help contribute to the family income. With the two other eldest gone some of the teenagers of the family had started their own jobs, though just to make sure nothing happened to them Takara always went to drop them off and pick them up. You never knew what could happen in the eightyth district and she didn't want her siblings getting attacked. " Aiko stay close. " Grabbing the little girl by the waist Takara lifted her up to carry her, it would be harder for the little girl to get lost and, for Takara to keep an eye on her. It was bad enough the girl was barely dressed, and what she was wearing could be deemed rags by others. Takara was fitting or almost the crowd with her clan kimono. She'd even bathed Aiko before leaving to hopefully avoid any awkward glances from the people around them. It hadn't helped that the little girl had been running around all day and people had given her some coins to keep her from following them around.

" I'm hungry. " Aiko frowned and, tugged at Takara's neck pointing to the food stands. Sighing in irritation Takara followed the little girls pointed finger, stopping in front of a food stand.
" What would you like to eat Aiko? " But the little girl wasn't listening instead she was starring at what looked to her like a female in a pink kimono with long flowy black hair. " Takara look, look! " Turning around Takara looked at the crowd. " What, I don't see anything... Aiko will you pick one so we can go and pick out your clothing? " The little girl was so damn picky! Much to Takara's irritation, they needed to get back home, they'd been here all day! So Takara turned back to the fruits and picked up an orange, looking it over before picking up an apple. She almost dropped the apple when the little girl started tugging at her clothing again. " NO! Look there! The girl in pink! " Now the girl was struggling to get down, Takara grunted and let her go but not before grabbing her hand. " I'll take the orange please. " For a split second she released the little girl to hand the man some coins, Aiko left her side and went to the 'girl in pink' she had been talking about.

Little tugging at her kimono Aiko looked up. " Hi, where did you get your kimono? " Takara looked down and her eyes went wide.
" Aiko? Aiko?! Oh god... " Great she'd lost the little girl again. Mom's going to kill me if I don't come back with her... Grabbing the bag that the man had given her, Takara stood on her tippy toes, trying to see if she could spot the little girl, but with so many people it was rather hard to see a little girl. " Aiko! " People were starting to look at her oddly, children always went missing, there was nothing special about it and, people usually moved on. But here she was, yelling into the crowd and trying to find someone. Shoving a few people, Takara stepped into the crowd. " MOVE. " What had she said? Some woman in pink? The only pink thing she saw right now was a... A man? Takara blinked a few times, but the woman remained a man. What the hell? Shoving a few more people while glaring at the one's that dared speak back to her, Takara made her way over and spotted her sibling. " Aiko! "

She was just walking around again, another uneventful day when she reached the point of activity: the marketplace. People were selling things everywhere, shouts apparent, women gossiping, the sellers trying to lure the buyers in with sweet talk. Money was, like in the real world, a necessity. She doubted any of these people were really hungry - don't spirits not experience hunger? Then again, like her, they probably ate out of habit more than anything. Nami certainly did so. Just watching the various fruits made her want to eat them. But she didn't have money. In fact, she didn't have a job at all and had absolutely no way to get money. She was bustling with energy [on most days, anyway] though her energy was redirected to other things ... such as walking around aimlessly in the streets of Rukongai, unsure which district she was in. She could care less.

And then she saw them: a stack of apples, all begging for her to come and eat them up. Nami had already endured enough - she had to eat something! Okay, it was more like she wanted to eat something but there was no need for specifics, right? She ran over to the stall, eying the magnificent display of food. "These look delicious..." she whispered to herself.

"Well, then, little lady, would you like to buy one?"

She didn't even listen to the 'little lady' part - something that would irk her almost immediately. Instead, she nodded, still keeping her eyes on the apples in front of her. Ah ... If only she had money. Then an idea struck her. There were plenty of people in Rukongai! If she could just get someone to buy it for her ... "I'll be back!" she announced before running off. And the first person that caught her eye? A woman in a pink kimono. Oh, her kimono looked pretty! She must have money, right?

Running off towards her, seeing some woman making people move everywhere, she saw a young girl already tugging at his/her kimono. What the heck, was she going to ask for money, too? Tugging at the woman's kimono at the opposite side, she said, "Ne, do you have - what the heck, you're not a woman." She heard someone shout a name, a woman's voice and looked sideways, seeing the same woman who was telling people to move as she crossed them. "Ah, you're the scary lady from earlier."

She was rather blunt, wasn't she?

Getting lost in the crowd seemed like the pinnacle of a smart idea, just forgetting who he was and watching the world for a while. It was nice to step back and look at reality from an observer's view. Poets were in this standpoint their whole lives right? It was how they wrote the stuff they wrote, Kaede didn't know whether to like or hate poetry. He was on the fence about it. Being by himself had this advantage of just spending a day pretending not to exist, while having a family meant you were either there to help, or went unacknowledged. His doe-brown eyes watched the families around him, hands clasped behind his back as he slowly walked through the market. He was yearning for a family, yet half-way content with his life as it was. He loved kids, he thought they were brilliant, but he liked being an adult with little responsibility at the moment as well. He was waiting to make a decision in life, because he wanted to make one. He wanted to do something that would help others, help children.

Was that why children gravitated towards him? Kaede had stopped and found himself staring down at a little girl tugging on his Kimono. A child a day, it seemed. "My kimono?" He asked, looking thoughtful. He couldn't recall exactly, he wasn't one with a completely stellar memory when it came to frivolous things. "I can't seem to recall, I'm sorry." He apologised, crouching down a little so he was at the same face height as the child. His arms smoothed his kimono over his legs, making sure it kept them covered. The girl wasn't on her own was she? Kaede frowned slightly and looked around but the people passing them showed no recognition of her. "You're not on your own are you? you could get lost." He said quietly, focusing his gaze on the girl again. It was natural worry, that born when a child on their own happened across you. Mothering instinct, or for him, the need to protect weaker things. It was baseline. He tucked a few strands of dark hair behind his ear, careful of the flowers he had perched in his hair as he once again surveyed the crowd, making sure to keep the child close. It was rather hard to do so at this level though, be he was afraid that she would run off.

But, he needed to find her guardian or friends. The crowd was thickening, the noise growing in his sudden need to find someone who was looking for a child. Damn, it was just like a movie slow motion but not as dramatic. He was too tender-hearted sometimes and that needed to be put in check, or he'd be doing the stupidest things out of guilt or pity. His lips pursed and he swung his gaze around, before returning it to the girl, looking confused. Why did she want to know where he'd gotten his kimono anyway?

Finally, a break in the crowd came, though the girl running over to him made him blink twice, was she looking for the child with him? He certainly didn't know her! He stood up, one hand resting on the child's head as he surveyed the newcomer. "No, I'm a man." He answered simply, not looking too pleased that he had once again been thought of like a woman. Sure, he dressed all pretty, but he was male. Males could be pretty. He peeked over her shoulder at the woman shouting and once again became confused. What was this? Gravitate to Kaede day? "This little girl isn't with you, is she?" He asked, looking back to Nami. Whoever she was, she was blunt and he didn't hold much hope that the woman shouting was much better. He always had to have an interesting day when he wanted a quiet one, didn't he?

People were trying to shove her if she shoved them, it was like a fish trying to swim through mud, it just didn't work. Takara was getting even angrier and angrier as she got closer, Aiko had for starters irritated her all day with her childish wants. Either the clothing didn't fit her the way she wanted, or the color wasn't good enough for her. She liked shopping with the boys, they stayed close and quiet and usually took the first thing she grabbed for them. There was also the fact, that whenever she saw a kimono on someone else she found some way to run away from Takara and, let Takara find her. Which had aggravated the young woman even more, she didn't need a raggy dressed child running around to people and, asking them whatever question had popped in her mind the moment she'd laid eyes on them. Heck she didn't need a child running around period. I swear, when I get my hands on that kid... Takara swore mentally. " MOVE out of MY way! " These people that walked around without a care in the world or were just lost never helped her raising temper, heck nothing could slow it down when she spotted the man in pink touching her sibling. Narrowing her eyes, she shoved people until she finally made it over to the... Trio?

Aiko smiled brightly at the... Boy? " You're a boy? " She was still cheery, the boy was really pretty too! Though her face dropped when we couldn't tell her where he'd gotten it. " I wanted one like yours. " Now she was saddened and had released her grip on his kimono, she watched him quietly for a few moments, grabbing a piece of his hair and smiling again. " You're really pretty! " She had completely avoided his question, in fact Aiko seemed quite the champion at avoiding everyone else's questions, though when she asked one the little girl seemed to want answer and, right away or she through a tantrum. When another woman approached Aiko grabbed onto her kimono. " You have a pretty kimono too! " It seemed, the little girl liked everyone else's kimono except the one's that Takara showed her. When the woman mentioned Takara, Aiko turned around and was faced with an angry Takara with her hands on her hips and a glare that could kill.

" She's with me. " Oh the venom in her voice, Takara was not pleased and not pleased at all. Though her gaze slowly slide over to the blond girl, Aiko felt bad for the woman; she had no idea what was coming her way. " Scary woman? You mean worried woman. if your sibling ran off I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be skipping around throwing flowers in the air. " The sarcasm almost made Aiko giggle, though she could picture that man throwing flowers. " And you! " Takara turned to the man giving him an accusatory look. " Get your hands off Aiko. " The hell I'm letting him take her home, what is he going to teach her? Aiko turned to the man. " I'm Aiko, wanna go kimono shopping? Takara has no sense of style. " Takara face palmed herself, her gaze returning to the younger sibling. " No. You're coming with me, you can't just go up to strangers and ask them to go shopping with you. For heavens sake Aiko. "

"No, I'm a man."

A man. Really. Was she supposed to believe that? She moved away from him a little, looking at him up and down with observing eyes. Kimono? Girly. Figure? Sort of. Hair? Pretty - Prettier than hers even. The face? Definitely. So she couldn't see how he couldn't be mistaken for a woman. Plus he had a really nice aura about him, you know the feeling when you feel like the person's nice? Well, for Nami she had the feeling he'd be easy to ask money from. Woman or not, he had to be as nice as a woman, right? Just ... had to be. Okay, that was more wishful thinking on her part.

Nami shook her head at his question regarding the little girl. "Do I look like I'll take care of her?" Of course not is the right answer. Really, Nami looks like she's the type who's supposed to be taken care of, not the other way around. While she had a brother before when she was alive, she wasn't exactly the best sister in the world. Her older sister often looked out for both of them though Nami did try to be a good sister she just ... couldn't do it, often failing at even the littlest of tasks. So why the heck should she be on good terms with this little girl? "You have a pretty kimono too!" She knew right then they were going to be the best of friends. A grin crossed Nami's lips, letting go of Kaede's kimono. "You have a good eye," she said, looking extremely haughty with the smug smile and the crossed arms - add the closed eyes and she looked as haughty as ever.

"She's with me."

Nami opened her eyes to see the woman, ranting off about being worried as Nami slowly retreated behind Kaede. She was scary! Like she was going to kill her right then and there. Course, that doesn't stop her from saying anything about that. "Actually, I'll just ask someone else to look for her," she said matter-of-factly. Nami would never win a 'best sister' award ever. "Anyway!" she said, looking back at Kaede and saying, "I want an apple." Not only was she blunt, she had no shame.

Kaede smiled and indulged the child answers th her questions and statements, it was best. She was cute and inquisitive which was something he found endearing in children, though avoiding his questions seemed to be her forte. He felt like she probably did this to people a lot of the time. His hand was on her head, merely to keep her nearby, though he was sure to lose it if the look on the angry woman's face was anything to go by. But...what if the child ran? Then it would be his fault for letting her go. Either way was going to end painfully and he sighed, suddenly wishing he'd stayed at home. A weary day ahead was what he foresaw. His thoughts diverted and he peered down at the girl when she spoke, nodding with a smile . "Yes, I'm a boy." He answered in a pleasant tone. He liked children, he just never had had any plans for any himself. He liked being the temporary look out, because kids were deceptive little blighters when away from their parents. Butter wouldn't melt until most of them got home.

"I was only asking because you came over." Kaede replied to Nami, pursing his lips a little, as if in doubt of himself over why he had asked such a stupid thing. She was cute, yes, but she was a deceptive type. Sugary-sweet appearance, acid tongue. His kimono was under scrutiny, he himself was under scrutiny. It wasn't like he stuck out like a sore thumb, he just liked to look nice. Who didn't? He looked at Nami and smiled a little, looking just a bit flustered. "Uhm...I suppose...I just liked the colour.." He said, feeling overwhelmed. Two evil forces from two sides, a cute terror from another. Did he look like the queen bee or whatever? Why was he attracting attention, it wasn't like he had been streaking, he'd just been walking! Kaede's expression soured. He needed his head checked, his thinking process was reaching gutter-level when it came to mental images.

It was easy to distract himself by answering Aiko. "Why, thank you very much." He chuckled, looking faintly embarrassed. Modesty. He ruffled her hair slightly. "You're a very cute child." He replied to her, the smile not leaving his lips. She liked pretty things then. He felt the happiness pop when the angry lady finally approached and he shuddered delicately. If she had been spitting venom, his skin would have been melted right off with those words. Oh, he was flinching at the thought that she was going to address him and when she did, his hand left Aiko's head faster then a goldfish's memory wiped clean. He held them up in a surrendering motion. "I was only..." He bit his lip, not knowing what his defense was exactly. "She wanted to know about my kimono and in a crowd, I didn't want to lose her and.." Oh god, angry lady made him nervous with her angry looks. He couldn't help but chuckle at Aiko though. He was amused that she was still so cheery in light of the fact her angry sibling had come to collect her. "Well, Aiko is it?" He started, pressing a finger to his lip in thought. He tapped it twice before removing his hand, thinking. "I'll come shopping with you, but only if your..er...sister says it's okay for me to come along, deal?" A promise with options. He really didn't want to be on the recieving end of any more venom words.

"What?" He looked at Nami, surprised she was addressing him with her want. He was supposed to...? is eyes darted to the fruit stall. He had to buy the apple? He flicked his gaze back to her, expression partway between confused and shocked. She was so blunt. He really wasn't used to her type at all. Should he buy the apple for her? Then...you should buy one..?" He tried, wondering if she was going to outright ask him for apple money. What was he, her mother?

" Takara!!! " The little girl whinnied turning to her sister and, grabbing her kimono to shake it vigorisly. And with the way Takara chose to wear the kimono... She had to pull it up and try to prey Aiko's hands off of her. " Aiko stop it. No he may not come with us... " Takara rubbed her temples, she could feel it coming. Aiko took a step back, let her head drop and started crying and stomping. Loud enough for others to turn their heads, Takara shut her eyes. Oh the headache... Should she just let her have what she want? Bring a complete stranger shopping with them? No. " Takara I want him to come! Pleeeaaaasssseee! " Takara bent down and covered the little girls mouth with her hand. " Shhhh, Aiko you aren't dying. And that's a no. " Aiko didn't take 'No' for an answer, in fact it didn't exist in her vocabulary. So the girl was stomping around, trying to prey Takara's hands off of her and move away. People were actually starting to stop and stare now at the interaction, so Takara released her. " Aiko stop. " But the little girl wouldn't stop yelling and, screaming and just wouldn't quite making a scene.

" Plleaaasssee. " Sighing in defeat, Takara turned to the man
. " Are you willing to come help this brat pick a kimono she likes? " Takara sounded very unenthusiastic about asking for help, she didn't need help from others and hated having others around. The only reason she was asking him was because Aiko was causing a scene, giving her a headache and to top it all off was being a brat. This is the last time I ever take her shopping. Takara wanted to kill her sibling, though the man seemed to have sibling of his own? The girl kinda made it seem as if she were related to him, not to mention with the way she was hiding behind him, and had just out right said she had wanted an apple... She couldn't be a stranger could she? Aiko had stopped crying now, her large childish grin had come back and she'd just grabbed onto to the mans hand. She was quite pleased not to be stuck with Takara all alone now, and maybe with the help of... What was his name? Had he said his name? As far as Aiko was concerned she had listened to every single little detail of what he had said, she couldn't possibly have missed his name.

Looking up she smiled. " What's your name? I'm Aiko and that's Takara, she's not as mean as she looks I promise. " Takara glared glared down at Aiko, no need to give away secrets. Aiko looked back up to Takara. " Can the girl come too? " Takara made a 'wtf-is-going-through-your-head?' look before looking at the girl for a few seconds and turning to the man.
" Do you know her? " May as well ask before Aiko adopted another stranger to their oh so happy little party. Children... Aiko glanced behind the man and looked at the girl. " What's your name? "

He just liked the color. Okay, she was going to go with that and decided to not say anything about his pretty little kimono. He went on talking with the little girl - Aiko, was it? judging from what the woman said earlier. Ah, shopping. She wasn't really very concerned about her own kimono but it wouldn't hurt to have more now, would it? Not like she didn't like the kimono she was wearing currently but it really wouldn't hurt to have something pretty like the man was wearing now, would it? Speaking of him, he had told her to go buy some, completely missing her point. And she told him that as indirect as possible, too! Nami gave him a glare, before turning to Aiko as she questioned something about Nami. Nami blinked once. Twice. Then that woman named Takara asked something about knowing her. Oh, this was her chance!

"Of course he does!"
she shouted, moving to Kaede's side and crossing her arms. "And he's going to buy me an apple, ne?" she had looked up at him and smiled, a hidden - well, not so anymore, it wasn't - motive under that smile of hers. When the girl asked her her name, she looked ... surprised. Nami looked at Takara then the little girl then the man beside her then the little girl again before saying, "Oh. Me. It's Risika Nami. And you're ... Aiko. Right."

Things were getting hectic. He realised that as soon as Aiko turned to her sister to beg for him to come along. The answer had been expected of coarse, he was a stranger whom they'd only just met. They weren't even on a name basis, not really. "Maybe another ti--" He cut himself off when she started her tantrum and winced, wondering how such a sweet child could generate such a level of noise and brattiness. Of coarse, all children did it. It was just surprising to see Aiko do it. He didn't know her well enough to know all her sides. He just knew the sweet, inquisitive side. The stomping made the whole thing worse and he crossed his arms over his chest, hunching his shoulders slightly in a clearly uncomfortable posture when he finally noted the crowd. oh boy. "Uhm...Aiko this isn't necessary..." He tried, but her screaming drowned him out. He doubted that she had heard him at all. So when angry lady turned to him and asked him if he was willing to come along, all he could do was nod a little numbly. Wow, even kids could win her over. Though he wondered if she hated him for causing such a fiasco. He ducked his gaze to Nami, frowning quietly. She was...well...forward. He didn't know what to think really.

"I do?" He answered on reflex, turning his head to look at Nami in surprise when she answered Takara's question. He pursed his lips again, looking genuinely confused. So, he was buying her an apple aswell? He sighed, finally understanding why his wallet had been complaining earlier. It had known. Money always knew when it wanted to be spent and Nami was most likely it's perfect friend. He sighed and fetched his wallet out of his obi, taking out enough money to buy her an apple, before holding it out for her. "Here then, Risika Nami." He mumbled, not looking impressed about being lured in this way. This was his money, not hers.

"My name is Kurimu Kaede" He introduced himself, smiling down at Aiko and then sending a small smile to Takara, before his faze went down to the little girl holding the hand not currently offering Nami the money she wanted. He was such a pushover. Ugh, god. Why was someone like Nami placed near him if he was going to give in? Where was karma when he needed it?!

Takara was relieve the man had accepted to come, she didn't know what Aiko would have done if he had said no. Though now she hoped the woman, well girl would be smart enough and refuse. Takara didn't want to have to bring a moocher along, if this Kaede couldn't say no to her, Takara would make it a clear point to say no. She wasn't the pushover type and if it came up to the point where she needed to chase the girl off, she would. Plain and simply put, you just didn't want to step on her shoes. So Takara took it upon herself to warn the girl before she even asked. " If you ask me for money, I'm going to bite your head off. " And then a nice big sly grin to add to the effect, yup Takara was one scary person.

        "I do?"

She looked up at Kaede, annoyance clear in her face as she narrowed her eyes at him. Talk about not getting a clue! He was supposed to be the adult so he was supposed to get what she was trying to do, for crying out loud! Oh, well. She wasn't going to complain about it for he was already taking out his wallet, giving her the money she wanted. Nami's eyes brightened and smiled up at Kaede, shouting, "Arigato!" before running off. Before she could, however, she heard Takara say something to her - something about money. Nami stopped momentarily from her supposed run, looking at Takara with her head tilted. "I never asked you for money," she said, then added, "You don't look like you have much, anyway." Talk about rude. Without much delay, she ran off to the shopkeeper with his stall of apples propped up by the road.

        "Two apples please~!"
she said, smiling at the shopkeeper as she handed the money. Apparently, it wasn't enough for two. "Hehhh?" she cried aloud, looking at the number of coins she had placed on the table. A pout came on her lips, looking at the coins. Really! He could have added a few more ... just a bit ... to be able to buy two ...

        "A-Ano ..."
she started, looking at the shopkeeper with eyes of fake sadness. "M-My little sister's really hungry, you see, the one over there - no, we don't know those two adults - and and we just want an apple." Why, yes, she just used the sympathy act.

        "Here you go~!"
said Nami, walking back to the group with an apple in both hands, handing one over to Aiko. Turning back to the others, before taking a bite out of the apple, she said, "So. Where are we going?"

Kaede himself was looking relieved that the noise level had dropped by now, though Nami poking at him was making him wonder about the pros and cons of fleeing. The crowds were thick, he could easily hide right? Wrong, most likely. They'd find him, with like...women's intuition. He flicked his gaze to Takara when she spoke to Nami, trying very hard not to look both bemused and distressed at the same time. Maybe if he pretended that was all the money he had she wouldn't get any ideas about things more expensive and pointless then apples..

"Ano..Nami, that's...the only thing I'm buying for you." He said, though deep down, he knew that wasn't the final nail in the coffin of this moocher issue. He tucked his wallet away in his obi again after that and dusted his trailing sleeves off, before peering down at Aiko.

"So what's your favourite colour, Aiko?" He asked her, leaning down a little, his hands on his knees to support him as he did so. Nami had gone to buy an apple so it was momentarily peaceful. That, and finding a nice colour would help on the hunt for some nice clothes. He peered over to Nami when she came back with not one, but TWO apples. How had she managed that?! He had only given her enough for one! He stared at her, eyes curious. "What did you do to get two of them?" He asked, tone slightly accusatory.

Nami was smiling when she came back and handed the extra apple to the younger one. She rather liked the child - after all, she had just called her kimono pretty. Ah, Nami and her ego. She looked up at Kaede upon hearing his question, a scowl forming on her lips before biting on the apple. Juicy. She took another bite after she gulped the first one down before saying, her tone haughty, "It's none of your business." She took another bite before looking up at Kaede, smirk on her face and her free hand on her hip "But if you must know, it's magic." Magic. Right. Well, Nami always had been fascinated by magic and tricks. Seriously, just show her one trick and she'll try her best to get it... completely ignoring her surroundings.

"So," she started, still biting into the apple. "Where are we going?"
