Yemon walked slowly, with his hands folded together in his sleeves. He could look down and see the torii there, but he wouldn't. It was for others to look. Others to wonder. He smiled softly as he moved through the street, careful not to touch any of the other inhabitants of the Rukongai. Peasants, really. This place was nothing like the home he'd had. Not that he really remembered the home he'd had, but he was certain it had to have been better than this place. It had to have been better. To have a home. He ground his teeth together behind his smile. He had to find some place to stay while he was here, at least. The shrine. He'd go to the shrine.

Well, that was the thought he'd had some hours ago. Finding the shrine turned out to be quite the challenge. He didn't know where he was, or even where to begin looking. And, as he was staring at a shop that he'd passed at the beginning of his search, he was going in circles. Circles. How pathetic. To think, he'd gotten lost. His mother would be ashamed of him. Yemon sneered at the thought. His mother would be mourning him, wearing all black, and hating every moment of it. She'd probably wear something colorful under her kimono just to be contrary. The woman wouldn't be able to attend any parties for a time, as well. Oh, she must be so angry that he'd gone and died.

Yemon stepped out of the flow of traffic in the shadow of a small stall, selling fruit of all things. He eyed the food before turning away from it. He'd worry about his hunger when he had someplace to stay. He still had to find the shrine before they closed for the evening. Wandering around aimlessly wasn't working. He'd have to ask someone. His lip curled with distaste for a moment at the thought. Yemon smoothed it out into a smile, though. It wouldn't be proper for him to show distaste.

Nami was just sitting there, on one side, tired and apparently bored from all the walking she had been doing. She was merely watching the people walk by, dozens of people, really, her feet dangling a few inches above the ground. Nami wasn't thinking at all, really just ... watching. There was nothing to do, she was tired of walking around and everything she saw was boring and/or entertained her for only a while before she eventually got bored of it. Yes, she's bored easily, one of the many traits of hers people get pissed off of. She'll just ditch something in the middle of it and go off finding something else that catches her interest... Which wasn't a lot, mind. Food would keep her only until she finishes them, games weren't much fun and well ... she just gets bored that easily. She wanted to find something interesting, something that would keep her for a while. Hey, that beats sitting around.

Nami looked up again, noticing the same blue hair crossing her since earlier. Well, she wasn't going to mind that. Then he crossed again, with his pretty blue kimono and a lotus flower on his head. Huh. Maybe he forgot something. Then he crossed again. What the heck? Was this guy just walking around in circles? Well, he seemed interesting enough anyway. So what did Nami do? She jumped off the box she was sitting on and walked towards him, facing his back.

"Ne, are you lost?"
she asked, before looking up at the flower in his hair... ultimately tugging at it. She was an annoying little thing, really.

Yemon spun in place, half raising his hand to bat the strangers hand from his hair, and incidentally, his clip. How dare they touch it? He opened his mouth to snap at the insolent person and... stopped, both actions, when he found himself face to face with a girl. He dropped his hand back to his side and closed his mouth, frowning. He hadn't been expecting a girl to had tugged at him. She couldn't have been any older than he was, yet was standing there, impertinent. He raised his hand again, running his fingers over the clip to make sure it was still intact and in his hair correctly. It was almost a caress.

"I do believe that I am." Yemon said softly, smiling at her to hide his contempt. Regardless of how blunt the girl seemed, she was still female and he still had to be polite. Just because the thought of being nice to her made him want to throw himself back out into the traffic meant nothing. "Perhaps you could help me. I am looking for the shrine." He tilted his head to the side and smiled brightly. Charming. His mother's friends had never been able to deny him anything when he smiled like that. There was no reason it shouldn't work on the little girl in front of him.

So long as she didn't touch him again, there would be no problem. Just tell him where to go and he would be gone. It was shameful that she'd noticed that he was lost. Shameful that he'd been lost, but more so that such a little girl had noticed. Yemon bit back a sigh. It would ruin his smile.

She watched as he quickly raised his hand as soon as she tugged at his clip. Well, she couldn't help it. It was much too pretty to not touch! Nami had always been fascinated by interesting things - more so if they were pretty. As he turned around, she couldn't help but think he looked rather ... girly than most people. It was probably his hair. Least he didn't look like the other girly person she met. Her hands were already at her side, waiting for his response, watching him move his hands up to the lotus clip again. He really seemed to like that clip.

He smiled at her, making her guess right. So he wasn't just forgetting a lot of things. He was actually lost! "Hm? The shrine?" she asked. The shrine! There was a shrine near there? Oh, she didn't know about that. There must be something interesting there, right? After all, it was a shrine and shrines had a lot of things in there. Maybe Soul Society had some sort of magical thing with them. Yeah, that would be fun. Her eyes were all determined, sparkling even as she said, "Ah, I don't know where that is but I want to go look for it too!" And nothing would stop her until she does.

Looking at the man in the stands, she quickly moved towards him and said, "Ne, where's the shrine?" Blunt as always, he said a few things and ultimately lead her forward. "Arigato!" she said before running back to him, pointing behind her and saying, "He said it's over there."

Yemon allowed himself a wince as she turned to ask the man in the stall. Not only was he lost, now he had this annoying little girl as a companion. He was smiling by the time she came running back towards him, proclaiming that the shrine was 'over there.' He snorted softly. 'Over there' was not a direction. 'Over there' was a way to get rid of annoying little girls who were taking up a shopkeeper's valuable time. Of course, he couldn't say any of this, no matter how much it choked him to smile and say, "Of course."

The girl looked like she was having fun, though. Her eyes were all but sparkling when she said she was coming with him. Yemon took a moment to get a good look at his companion. She was quite pretty, in her blue and purple kimono. The blue brought out her eyes, so it had been a good choice. He shook his head slightly. Pretty or not, he didn't want to travel with her. So, how to lose her.

"Thank you for asking for me." He widened his smile just a bit. Like he was really happy with her. Ha. What a joke. "But you don't have to accompany me. I am sure that you wouldn't find anything interesting at the shrine. I am looking for it for..." He paused, smiling wilting at the reason he was looking for the shrine. "... for personal reasons." He folded his hands inside his sleeves again and smiled down at her. "If you'll excuse me, then." He turned his back toward her, waiting for a break in the foot traffic. He'd have to ask another shopkeeper. 'Over there.' He sneered.

Nami watched him walk away, turning his back to her. Did he just ... He was walking the wrong way! Oh, he was not ... He didn't believe her! He did tell her it was that way! That little ... Okay, maybe not little seeing she was definitely shorter than he was [though he didn't look older by much] but still! He was practically just shoving her effort up against the wall! Really! It wasn't like her heart wasn't in the right place, either. Well, technically, it wasn't seeing she wasn't asking for him, she was asking for herself but that wasn't the main point now, was it? No, the main point was his practically dissing her, despite the smile on his face. Oh, he thinks he was all that? Well, he has met his match!

As soon as he walked off, not even bothering to think about whatever his 'personal reasons' were because she, too, had her own reasons for going to the shrine, she tugged at the back of his kimono to keep him from walking away. "Oi, you b*****d!" she shouted, anger clear in her voice, no one bothering to look seeing it was already rather loud in the place. "Ha! You think you can get rid of me that easily? Well, too bad!" Ah, it seems arrogant, annoying, evil little Nami has reared its head to the surface. She let go of his kimono and placed her hands on her hips, smirking and saying, "It's not easy to get rid of me, you know. Now, look for that shrine." Oh, and did I mention bossy? There was one thing about Nami: never ignore her nor diss her. She'll do exactly the opposite just to be annoying.

Yemon turned back to face her slowly, not caring that they were currently stopped in the middle of the thoroughfare. Because it didn't really matter. She had touched him. Again. And she had given him an order. How dare the little viper. How dare she order him. It didn't matter at all that it was what he'd planned to do in the first place. Hell, it was what he'd been doing all day. She'd manged to insult him, as well. All with in the space of a few breaths.

"A b*****d, am I?" He began smiling. He couldn't help but smile. It was far to funny to do anything else. It couldn't be said his smile was particularly pleasant, though. "You insolent little tramp. Who do you think you are talking to? Who do you think you are trying to order around?" His eyes narrowed. His name, his family, his power. None of them mattered here. On some level, Yemon knew that. Who he'd been in life didn't matter.

Yemon took a step closer, removing his hands from his sleeve and placing one long finger under her chin, tilting her head up. "You are nothing. It is not hard to rid myself of a nothing like you." He sneered at her, dropping his hand back to his side as he took a step back. The girl was worthless. Simply worthless. It was stupid for him to even get angry. So, he smiled at her again, condescending and triumphant. He fully expected her to run of crying now. "Worthless."
PostPosted: Mon May 11, 2009 11:22 pm

Insolent little tramp? How dare he! He did not just call her that! Of course, she did call him a b*****d but it was all his fault! His fault! If he could have just been nice, they wouldn't be calling each other words in the first place! Course, Nami'd probably throw an insult or two so a fight would probably not be very inevitable. Not to mention she didn't like how he seemed sweet and eventually turned one hundred eighty degrees and became such a ... b*****d. Oh, but she was definitely not going to swoop to his level.

"Tch! I could care less who the heck you are!" she shouted. Oh great. Way to be mature, Nami. She crossed her arms in front of her and was about to say something when he took a finger and tilted her head up by the chin. Nothing? Oh, he was crossing the line big time! She wanted to kick him so badly she had no idea what was causing her not to. Oh and he called her worthless. He was asking for WAR.

"Worthless, you say?" she said, smirking, the side of her mouth twitching slightly. Nami was going to be the more mature here. Yes, she was going to be. He was smirking at her, seemingly gloating. Oh he was asking for it. Taking a nearby apple, much to the defiance of the shopkeeper, she quickly threw it towards him, shouting, "You stupid girl!" Hopefully, it would hit. Hopefully. If it didn't, she'd throw another one.

Yemon caught the apple, barely paying attention to it. His eyes rocketed wide at the insult, breathing coming a little too fast. She'd called him a girl. She called him a girl. He no longer cared that the others had stopped their shopping to stare, that his hand hurt where he'd caught the apple. He bared his teeth at her in a horrible imitation of a smile. "You. Little. b***h." He bit of each word loudly into the growing silence. His nails dug into the apple, juice trickling over his hand.

Then he froze, taking a deep, cleansing breath. The smile reverted into something charming, like it had been when he'd first met the horrible little girl. He swallowed all that anger and smiled at her. She was going to pay. Forever. You wouldn't even be able to tell he was angry. Not anymore. His eyes shown with kindness. Yemon wasn't going to play her game. He unclenched his hand, pulling his nails out of the apple. "You are supposed to pay for these, you know." He tossed it underhand back to her, still smiling. Oh, how it hurt to smile. "Unless you are a thief. Are you a little thief?" He looked her up and down, smile curling with disdain. "I wouldn't be surprised, with the way you tried to take my clip earlier." He laughed a little. It wasn't so much a lie as an exaggeration.

"Perhaps I should find a guard, little thief." Yemon didn't know if there were guards about or not. He hadn't been there long enough. He was talking loud enough for the rest of the crowd to hear, though. It was going to be so easy to get rid of her, now. She'd deny it, of course, because it wasn't true. He just let the accusation, and the threat, hang there. He doubted she could fight him at this level.
PostPosted: Tue May 12, 2009 12:15 am

Okay so he was getting slightly scary at that point, his nails digging into the apple, its juice trickling down his arm. And then he smiled. Okay, that was even more creepy. What the heck was with this guy? Did he have a split personality disorder? No, that didn't seem to be the case but it did sound cool! Oh, no wait! He can't be cool! That just completely clashes her definition of people she dislikes! Because apparently, people she dislikes/hates are boring, not cool and annoying. Well, he had the annoying bit all figured out, that's for sure, especially as he attempted to insult her once again. He sure was full of himself. Ha, says the egomaniac.

He tossed it back at her, Nami quickly catching it. And then he called her a thief. What the heck? She heard a soft growl coming from the shopkeeper, apparently wanting his pay. "A-Ano!" she started, looking down at the apple then the shopkeeper... before putting it back on the shelf she took it from. Seeing the glare still on his face, she pointed at the guy she was absolutely sure she hated right then, and said, with the cutest face she could muster up [oh yes, she was definitely playing the cute card], "I was going to put it back, see, but he dug his nails into it and now it's all ugly!" She didn't even apologize. Oh, that probably would have worked, though ... if she didn't look back at him with a skeptical look on her face.

"Ha? A guard?" she said, raising an eyebrow and shaking her head, "Who the heck do you think you are to have a guard?"

Yemon laughed off the glare that the shopkeeper sent his way. "I did not take it from your shelf, sir. Whatever her initial intentions were are irrelevant, I'm afraid." He looked back at the girl. "Whatever happened the to poor apple after she took it and threw it at me remains her responsibility." He gave her his sweetest smile. Did she really think that she could get out of it with a cute smile? Amateur, completely amateur. Yemon wasn't worried that the shopkeeper would turn his anger on him, for just the reasons he stated. And he had a pair of coins that he had planned to use as an offering at the shrine, but they would work just as well to pay off the man. If it became necessary. His smile grew a little. If he did pay the girls current debt, it opened up a whole new realm of games he could play. Oh, how fun.

"Oh, it wouldn't have to be a personal guard." He tapped his lips as though deep in thought. "Though I should look into getting one soon to keep the riffraff away from me." He flicked his finger in her direction almost absently as he said it. "Any guard would be capable of dealing with such a pathetic thief."

"And as to who I am..." He just smiled, eyes narrowing to near slits. "Introductions are for the polite. Of which, you are not."

He was annoying! Annoying! After his little statement, she turned back to the shopkeeper, cute face still on and said, "D-Demo I really was going to give it back! It's his fault he ruined it!" Oh, come on, it always worked! The cute face always, always worked - especially on old men who run shops. Now, if only it would work on this particularly grumpy one. She looked back at him, seeing the sweet smile on his face. "... That's creepy, you know," she said, and she wasn't even trying to piss him off! Ah, what to do. She didn't have any money, she didn't know anyone and she wasn't very sure the cuteness would win him over. Not to mention she kept getting distracted. It wasn't her fault she wanted to send a snide remark towards mr. lotus freak.

And he just called her riffraff. Turning his way, she shouted, "Arrogant girl! There's no such thing as a personal guard, you spoiled brat!" And yes, she was talking about him rather than herself but that wasn't very obvious now, was it? Oh, the hypocrisy from that statement! She turned back to the shopkeeper and said, "You see that?! See that?!" She turned back to him again, hearing him say something about introductions.

"Hmph! I could care less about your name," she said, narrowing her eyes at him.

Yemon smirked. It was never a good idea to use the same insult twice. It never had the same effect. And yes, he was arrogant. There was no point in denying that. Spoiled a bit, as well. He knew this and accepted it. With open arms. "Perhaps there isn't such a thing. Here." He shrugged his shoulders slowly, like he could care less. Which was true. He didn't need anyone to defend him. It was enjoyable watching her bouncing back and forth between trying to be cute and succeeding at be obnoxious. Yemon didn't think that shopkeeper was fooled by her act. Of course, the man just looked more confused by the second. This was turning into a fun day, after all. His smile, creepy? The thought made him smile more. Poor, poor, little girl.

"What exactly is he supposed to see?" He asked softly, taking a step toward her and the shop. "Some soul you are trying to get to take responsibility for your actions?" Yemon watched her bounce back to be annoying with the comment about his name. It was almost sad, really, how she couldn't stay focused on trying to woo the man into letting her get away with it. If she played the part right, he wouldn't have any way of attacking. He would seem like the bad guy instead of the victim. And even if she managed that for a while, he had another way of making her look like the idiot she portrayed so well.

"If you could care less, then you shouldn't have asked." Yemon chided her softly, narrowing his eyes in a careful mimick of her own expression. He lowered his voice to a whisper, so that no one but her would be able to hear. "As I said, you are obviously worthless. You can't even charm a shopkeeper."
PostPosted: Thu May 14, 2009 1:46 am

Well, of course there wasn't such a thing there! Really, it's not like he was known anywhere to have some personal guard with him. Come on, how arrogant could he get? He was more arrogant than she was! She wanted to just throw another apple - no, the entire stand - at him. It was enough to drive anyone crazy! How could anyone live under the same roof with that guy around? They'd probably be either really patient or really submissive. Too bad Nami wasn't any of the above. At his question, she spun her head around to look at him - more like glaring, really and saying, "He's supposed to see how arrogant you are, you b*****d." So much for sweet talking with the cute innocence.

Nami then proceeded, at his statement, to raise an eyebrow at him. What the heck was he talking about? She never asked for his name! She could barely remember her asking for his name! Why would she want to know such an arrogant guy's name anyway? Her confusion was apparent just a while after he said that, tilting her head to the right and putting a finger to her lips, looking up at nothing in particular. Then she remembered. "Who the heck do you think you are to have a guard?"

Looking back at him, she shook her head and said, "Iie, iie, that wasn't a question. I could really care - WHO THE HECK ARE YOU CALLING WORTHLESS?" Oh, she couldn't help it! She was called worthless! Twice! She stopped herself, however, from kicking him in the shin. She wasn't going to get herself in any more trouble, that's for sure.

Yemon hid his laughter behind another sweet smile. This was the second time she'd called him arrogant. The second time she'd called him a b*****d. The girl should really think up some new insults. Something shocking, maybe. He cast a look at the shopkeeper, who had backed away from the front of his stall, just looking between them. At least he was smart enough to not get involved. The old man probably wanted nothing more then for the pair of them to leave so he could get back to his job. Yemon turned back to the girl to see her looking away from him, thinking. It looked like such a chore, to think. He opened his mouth to make some comment on this when she looked at him again, started to speak, then scream at him.

Yemon jumped at first, taking half a step back at the noise. He highly doubted there was a single person on the street that wasn't paying attention to them now. Yemon's face split into a grin and he started to laugh. It was just funny. He couldn't really say why but it was, truly, the funniest thing he'd seen since he'd died. He trailed off into giggles as he pulled one of the two coins he had out of a pouch he had in his sleeve and tossed it on the ground at the girls feet.

"For the entertainment."
