I've watched quite a few vampire films, but I still love Interview with the Vampire. I love their costumes, and Lestat is just the greatest character ever. Tom Cruise did a very good job of playing him. I didn't particularly like Antonio Banderas as Armand considering that in the books Armand was a 17 year old Russian boy... but he still played a cool vampire. So if you ignore the books it's a good movie on its own.

I agree that was a very impressive movie. The idea that each vampire has there own particular "dark gift" brought an interesting idea to the vampire genera. Who wasn't thrilled with the sweet scythe wielding vampire slaughter fest?
I never saw Queen of the Damned. I guess I didn't think I would be two happy with Lestats transition into a rock star.

Here is a few films that I find a little to obscure.
Bram Stokers Dracula ( Aka Bill and Ted go to Transylvania)
Vampire's Kiss ( Horrible....Nicolas Cage might be the worst actor ever)
Once Bitten - Jim Carry in a 80's vampire movie? ( it's actually pretty funny)

Yeah for the most part you see vampires hunting humans and humans hunting vampires. There ideals and philosophy clash too much to be otherwise. However modern stories have shown many vampires like Louis de Pointe du Lac to be sympathetic to the human condition. There is a scene in which Louie seeks out the blood of animals rather then people. He believes it is a better way insure people are not simply prey but equals.

The anime Hellsing Alucard ( formerly Dracula) takes up arms against evil creatures such as vampires. Slaughtering the weak was just too boring and his immortal life felt empty with out a true conquest. Working under the command of the Hellsing family he protects those who can not protect himself. All the while obtaining the amusement he desires.

I don't know much about Twilight but hearing that there is a vampire and human relationship begs the question once more are vampires sympathetic to humans?

The rise in this change has been pushing the idea that modern culture no longer likes the old role we placed on the damned. So they have recently become the underdogs. Fighting there curse and making something more of there plight.
