IN THE BEGINNING
GENERIC
You must adhere to Gaia's TOS & Rules and Guidlines. To the letter. You agreed to them by joining the site, so you should obviously know what I'm talking about. These aren't there to look pretty, if you violate these I will ban you on the first notice, give or take my judgement as to whether it was intentional or not. But it is serious game if you disregard these.
Remember that these include slander, stalking, harrasment, threats, cybering, content with a rating higher than PG-13, signature size and chain letters & botting.
THEN THERE WAS PINK AND BLUE
POSTING ETTIQUETE
1) Be polite. And try to use full sentences or so when in a thread that involves critique and non-chat discussion. If you're chatting and you tend to use net-speak, then try to use it in a way that's coherent.
2) No quote towers. You can quote multiple posts and respond to each one individually in the post, but don't create quote towers. 2 posts per quote at most, remove the rest.
3) Be on topic. If you aren't, I or one of the staff will remind you guys. This isn't a HUGE deal, don't take it personally - but try to conciously not derail. Sometimes it just happens, though.
4) Don't spam. Every post has a reason, whether to be to continue a conversation, start one, or whatever. But we don't justify posting for reasons such as gold-getting or to cause trouble.
5) Don't RP-speak all the time. For the most part, we're real people. We're people with lives who don't nessecarily RP all the time, so we ask that you interact using your actual personality. And be honest about your gender - I'm a male using a girl, and we all know that isn't uncommon.
AND LO, RED CAME TO FUDGE THEM UP
THREAD ETTIQUETE
Thread creations and topic matter will be a forum-by-forum basis. The thread that are allowed in the main forum though are;
1) On-topic conversation threads. Threads that are a general conversation but have a specific purpose, i.e asking advice or so.
2) On-topic discussions. Threads that are a discussion of a subject matter. I.e, if you post news about an anime or a publishing company or international news and want to talk about it.
3) Single creative peice threads. If you want help critiquing an essay or a peice of art, post an we'll help you on your way. However, a few sub-rules apply to this kind of thread -
A) Comments must be constructive criticism. If you have nothing pertinent to say or anything to help the work improve in your opinion, then do not post.
B) If you are posting art, please post the intent of the peice as well. If it has symbolic meaning or what you wanted a certain pose to convey, do so. It will help GREATLY with the critique.
4) Home threads. Honestly, I would reccomend The Pantheon for this, but if you wish to create one here, that's ok too. A home thread is a thread that is basically a personally-run hangout that you are able to have, with a central focus on yourself. It has whatever topic you want or so; basically it's a thread to call your own and do with as you please.
5) RPs. If you create an RP, then you MUST place a "(RP)" in the thread title. RP threads are the exception, not the rule - thus we need identification.
On a more sane note, here's what isn't allowed.
1) BUMP threads. Waste of space, and there are a ton of other guilds for it.
2) Generic chat/convo threads. This is what Blah^2 is for.
3)Questions/Personals/Item Selling/Advertising of any kind. Post introductions where you feel fit to introduce yourself like houses or in Blah blah, we have a thread for questions; we aren't a dating service plus you can meet people all over in this place; finally we don't really deal with the economics of Gaia nor do we feel we should.
WE FINALLY GOT TO GREEN
IMAGES
1) Don't quote them. Ever. We don't want to use up anyone's bandwidth, even Imageshack.
2) Make sure the resolution of the image you post is smaller than 800x800. We don't want to stretch people. If it is larger, link it.
3) Make sure the size of the image is smaller than 175KB. If it's larger, link it.
4) Don't cram up threads with tons of images. I'll say 15 per thread, anymore - link to them. We need to consider the 56K users too, who go through HELL on Gaia anyway.
AND THEN THE BLUE
The subforums will have their own rules. These rules are completley applicable except for certain exceptions. Please read them and use your common sense.
Don't PM me asking to be staff. I'll be a little perturbed, you DON'T want this job. xD
The TOS are subject to change at any time, so check them once in a while. Once you sign, you're agreeing to these rules and any I change them to. I'm not an unreasonable person, don't worry.
HELLO INDIGO
THREAD DELETION POLICY
Threads are locked for inactivity and if they have broken rules.
If there is no activity in your thread for 7 days, it will be locked. You will then have 4 days to argue a case to unlock it. Unless it's locked for a reason violating rules, then we're really lenient.
The threads that are an exception to this rule are -
House Threads
Stickies & Official Threads
If the thread is locked for violating a rule, then you will have 1 chance within a period of 3 days to argue your case. If you're appeased, then the thread will be restored. Obviously the posts with offensive material will be edited.
Posts are edited if there is material in them that is not appropriate. The Crew reserves the right to edit any post they feel is innappropriate.
