Squad Nine: Library

This is a nice place to research or just finish up some paperwork. It has some standard books but there are some papers in here for Squad Nine's use in their investigations. There are private rooms for solo work and desks a plenty. There are quite a few levels to the library though most of the bottom floor is reference materials.

Entering the library, Isaac took a sip of his coffee as he looked at the size of the place. It was fairly large, books a plenty for sure. And it was quite. Too quiet for his personal taste, but it would be more comfortable than working on it in the break room. For his first decision, he was going to work his way towards the legal and rules section of the library, as well as lifting a pen off the librarian's desk.
Finding his way to the section he was looking for, Isaac sat down with a dictionary and a book on the general laws of the Soul Society and set to work. The first few pages were fairly easy in his opinion, being as they were personal information and opinion related questions. After he got through the second page it started turning into situational write up questions, things like, 'How would you handle orders to look for a possibly dangerous suspect?'
Well that's an easy one, Isaac thought to himself, Tell everyone to look in the most likely spots while I wait at base. With this being his answer, he wrote down, 'To organize search parties with myself in the most central of possible locations so I can quickly regroup to help the group that has located the suspect.' And thusly he continued to write down what he should do in every situation.

After about three more pages of such questions, four bathroom breaks from the coffee, and removing his visor, Isaac finished the theoretical questions. Turning over the last page, he found a small envelope, inside of which was a red band, the symbol he was to wear for his position as a Coordinator. Quickly tying it around his left arm, he read over the last two pages. These were sample file reports for him to have to reference for when he would have to fill out his own. Feeling like he deserved a rest, he clipped the pen on his armband, between it and himself, organized his papers, and left to turn them in, wherever that need be.
So as Isaac left, not saying a thing or even thinking about returning the pen, he decided to head to his Captain's office, most likely where the forms needed to be turned in at. One other thing that he was wondering is if he had a desk of his own somewhere. He read over the positions as listed on one of the pages and decided that he would need one for the work he would have to be doing. Sure, most of it was just ordering people around, but he still had to file reports and 'help' with on going investigations. The title of Coordinator had a nice ring to it and he much liked the idea of it. He got to show of combat skills once in a while, even do a little bit of data analysis, and in the end he had an almost endless line of people to hide behind. Seemed pretty safe to him. So continuing his thought process, he walked towards Karixa's office to turn in his papers.

Zero walked through the library, shifting in and out of several isles as she searched for books that might interest her. Zero never had been much for socialization and always seemed to prefer a quiet place where she could think. Logic and tactics were her strong points and she loved to do research in order to learn more about her surroundings and the people around her. While standing at the mouth of one isle, she removed a long, thin pipe from deep within her robes and placed it at the corner of her mouth and lit it with a match. A sweet smelling smoke billowed from the tip of the pipe as the smoke coiled through the air around Zero. She then quickly stepped into the next line of bookshelves, her head darting left and right as she slowly walked, studying the name of every book that met her eyes. "It's so empty here. The silence is so lovely." She said in a dull whisper as she stopped in the middle of the isle. She reached out and removed a rather large book, a book that seemed too heavy for someone her size to lift though she seemed to have no trouble, labeled 'A History of Five Centuries: Captains of the Gotei Thirteen and Their Feats'. Zero also removed several books whose subjects revolved around various squads, especially squad nine. After gathering a large pile of books that was nearly twice as tall as herself, Zero made her way to one of the private rooms used for studying and work. She placed the tall pile onto the corner of a long wooden table and slid into a rather comfortable leather chair. She removed the top most book from the pile and opened it. Sweet tobacco smoke billowed through the air from her pipe as she stared down at the pages, her lips moving silently with every word she read.

After several hours of intensely reading through the large pile of books she had collected from within the library, Zero closed the last one with a quick flick of her wrist. She then began stretching in her seat, arms and legs spread out wide as she did so, ridding herself of all the stiffness that had accumulated in her muscles during the long reading session. "It seems as if these books were a little more useful than I had originally anticipated. I learned a lot about this squad, as well as the rest of the Sereitei and its captains. I suppose now I should go look and see what everyone else is doing. Maybe they can help me rid myself of my boredom." She placed her palms flat against the table and slowly pushed herself out of her seat. Zero removed a white haori embroidered with a black vine of black roses across its back, this being the haori she wore constantly over her regular robes. She slid her arms through the sleeves and straightened the fabric as she walked slowly toward the door of the private room. She gently slid the door open but before she walked through the threshold she froze and glanced back at the mess of books that lay spread over the large table. "I wander of I should put those back...maybe someone else will take care of that. I'm sure this library is organized by someone so I will just leave it to them." Zero then disappeared into the dimly lit library as she made her way to the training grounds of squad nine, humming a strange tune as she walked.
