PostPosted: Wed May 13, 2009 2:13 am

For some reason, unknown even to myself, I've been training harder than usual these past few days... particularily, push ups, punches, kicks and tuite techniques... I'm sore all over.... but for some reason, I still feel like I'm not doing much ><

I'm injured so I cant train properly. Its driving me nuts. I'm angry all the time. I cant do any sparring or running. So I swim a lot and do techniques and do basic training with my own weight and I lift weights. Today we trained moving in right stance and straight punch. Didnt do much but still my legs are killing me. crying

And someone stole my jumprope (not that I could use it right now but I liked it a lot)

Getting angry won't solve anything, friend. You should be patient and let your injury heal properly... you shouldn't risk making it worse. I'm very surprised that your teacher would let you practice while injured.

It's better if you just rest for a few days.

I know, I know. You are right.

Well I had to rest for two weeks and take painkillers. It helped, but my injuries still arent fully healed. Its a stress injury so nothing is really broken. I'm taking it easy, thats why I'm irritated.

There are still lot of workouts that i can do. So there is no reason to stop training completly. If you cant carry out one thing then you should replace it with something that you can do.

=)

Well, you're right... as long as you avoid stressing your injury anymore that it's already been, then I guess it's alright, but just try and be patient and train lightly... that way you give your injury a better chance to heal. =)

Patience is a great virtue in a martial artist, so you can also see it an oportunity to train and increase your martial artist state of mind. =)

I've been training quite a bit lately. I just competed in a tournament, so part of the training was in preparation for that.

I plan on working extra hard this summer vacation on my skills so I can compete better this year than I did last year.

Keitolla- if your instructor is good, they'll want you to come into class when you can, and substitute different exercises you can do with your injuries. It sounds like you're doing just that! 3nodding Don't let it annoy you. Take something out of it, if you can. Get good at another skill that perhaps you haven't trained much in. Make sense? sweatdrop

Oh! And where did you get your awesome jump rope? I've been thinking about getting one myself. smile

I bought it in average sportstore. It was Everlast jumprope made of leather. I did shorten it (and destroyed two forks doing that) and it was waxed and greased and i did take a good care of it. Just great rope... because it was used a lot. I think new ropes arent very good because they are all stiff.

I like ropes made of leather... I dont like them to be too heavy... some boxer like weighted ropes... and some like metalic ones and some use plastic ones... you just have to try and decide what suits you best. I recommend a rope with precision ball bearings for extra speed.

Ohhhh... a leather one, huh? We have a few of those at our dojang. smile But I haven't used them at all yet, I don't think. Today, when I went to our workout session, I used a plastic one twice. It doesn't really bother me at all, as that's what I learned to jumprope with.

I'll keep the precision ball bearings in mind, though, for when I get faster. Jumprope would be a great way to pass the time... 3nodding

Lately I've been working my ground game more ... primarily wrestling ... it is especially difficult ... bue to the fact that our wrestling trainer is a girl ... and she makes my wrestling look like child's play ...
