So, I have a date on Saturday. First one in about a year. So, I want/need an opinion as to what to wear. I was planning on some tight(ish) black pants, a long t-shirt (it's black and in pink and silver writing says "Forget being a Princess, I want to be a Vampire") and black flats. The guy I'm going out with is much much shorter than me, so I think heels might be a bad idea... He's also a bit older... like... possibly 15 years... so I don't want to dress to much like a kid... But we're just going to the movies, so does that outfit sound ok?

This guy is nearing forty.
That's a pretty big gap there.
It pains me to answer your wardrobe question just yet.
It's this your first date with him?
Where did you meet him and how long have you known him?
What is your goal for the date?

First date.
I met him at work, he's a regular customer, not sure how long I've known him... I've worked there 3 years, but only have him in my line every once in awhile. We've talked about random things before while I was checking him out (I work as a cashier at a grocery store.) The day he asked me out we had been talking about the Star Trek movie, and the fact that the last movie I had seen in theatres was Iron Man. We then talked about the Avengers movie coming out. He left the store, but called an hour or so later wanting to know if he could "have the honor of taking me to the movies."
No real goal for the date, just planning to have fun and get to know him. Very casual. We haven't even decided what movie to see yet... and I don't know if dinner is involved or not...

I... know nothing about dates... sorry! XD
But I guess it's all about the kind of impression you want to give him.

Dating is difficult...
The guy seemed nice enough... but when we were talking about books, and how mostly I read vampire books right now, he asked me, if a vampire bit me, where would I want it to be? Kind of strange...
He also said, if I ignored the dust bunny's he would show me his house... really not interested in seeing his house... especially on the first date... So... there probably won't be a second...
Being single is easier... but at least I got to see the Star Trek movie smile

I find the adult dating world to be particularly frightening.
There are a lot of things about that guy I thought seemed odd.
Hanging out with some one who could be old enough to be your father is pretty distressing. Next time some one hits on you the way he did I would suggest making your understanding of the situation known. If you have to ask them if they consider this a date then ask. If you would rather see a movie with a friend then mention that. It doesn't have to be complicated. I find the more blunt you are the better.
Always make sure you let people know who your with and where your going. It's not only a good idea it could save your life. Sorry I didn't have much advice about what to wear. I had the feeling you had an idea of what the situation was to be and he had quite another. For such a situation there really wasn't a perfect answer.

Yeah, well, I told my mom where I was, so that was no problem. He's also a um... "little person" so I wasn't to concerned. I just, thought it would be a good experience to try hanging out with different people. But, I ended up feeling awkward and uncomfortable and... as mean as it might sound, his height was kind of inconvenient. I had to keep getting things that were to high up and when I accidentally spilled my drink on myself (only a little bit, and luckily my clothes were all black so it didn't show up) it was easier and faster for me to just get up and get the napkins, same thing when we went to a coffee shop. Everything was either to high or far enough away it was faster for me to get. And I just really don't want to deal with that kind of thing... I've always been the type who wants someone I can be equal with... and that would be impossible with this guy.
So, I'm going to stick to guys around my age (easier to relate to) and around my height (more convenient).

Ah so there was much more to the guy that met the eye.
The way he went about asking you and the age difference had me quite curious. Glad to know you where not dealing with some sort of sexual deviant. Poor guy it makes quite a bit of since know that he was courting a much younger girl.
Good for you to give the guy a night out. I am glad to see you have a good head on your shoulders. Just be sure you be cautious. The more accepting and trusting you are the more vulnerable you become.

...sorry...I can't help but worry.

Anyway good luck on future dates.

Thanks... with the way things are going though, I probably won't have another date for awhile... Which is fine, I don't have much time for dating anyway.
