I liked the whole magical painting thing. It was sad that James had to burn alive. I really need to read Wizard's First Rule again because the series is erasing it from my brain.

Yea the definitely changed James, in the book he only had one had and was the court artist. He trapped Richard in the spell that made him not cross the bridge and poised him whenever he touched it so he had to be separated from Zedd and Kahlan then eventually Richard made the spell flip onto James.
It was interesting but James as a regular painter was a interesting and the fact that he wanted to protect the one chick and her son was a nice change. I did feel kind of sorry for James when he died.
