Yes he does.
How do people keep mistaking him for a woman in the anime? He looks girly, but his voice is incredibly masculine! At the start, when Miaka's like "There's no way such a beautiful young woman can be the emperor?" and Tamahome yells "Are you blind?!", I always yell "Or deaf?!"

Although it did make me laugh when, as he's about to kiss her, one of the things he says is "I've tried to hide my feelings for you, but I can no longer hold them back!" meanwhile, I'm thinking "bull***t you did!" Seriously, every single time he's alone with Miaka, he's like "I know you don't feel the same, but I love you!" O____o If you know she doesn't feel the same, then stop saying it, you're putting too much pressure on the poor girl! Rant over, sorry.
