So I've been playing the DS remake of Rhapsody. I haven't gotten very far yet -- Ferdinand only just got kidnapped -- but several things have changed, for better or for worse. Kururu is now a playable character -- she joins your party. The songs are all in Japanese -- I guess they didn't have enough space to include both the English and Japanese versions of the songs? The battle system naturally looks different, as it is now more suitable to the DS. You no longer have to move your characters toward the enemies -- it's a more classic RPG battle system.
Has anyone else played the DS version yet? What do you think?

I haven't played the Nintendo DS version of the game yet so I can't really give an opinion on the gameplay itself, but I have to say that I think the DS version is kinda screwed up for the worse I mean Kururu is now a playable character, the battle system is now classic, and you can't switch the language of the songs from english and japanese. In my opinion they should have worked on the game some more instead of making such changes.

To be honest, the most jarring thing that I noticed about the transfer was that the sound effects are different. I miss the definitive "WHAP" that Kururu would give you with her fan...The ones of the puppet attacks that just sounded so old school....You know? I kinda miss them.
The new battlesystem took awhile to get used to, but I was able to do it. I miss the old one a little, but that's alright. It's still the same storyline and that's all that really matters to me.
I'm just pleased that Rhapsody was able to make it's way onto a newer system that will hopefully expose it to a broader audience.

Truth be told if this game does extremely well on the DS than I hope that they finally decide to release the sequel of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure for both the PSP and the DS since they didn't release the sequel outside of Japan( my theory is, is that they want to keep all the good games and it's equally good sequels in Japan) it sucks that they never released the sequel to Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure in North America.

I bought it... now I need a DS... >.> But my thought was that it would be easier to buy a DS because Rhapsody's already been out for a while and I might not be able to find it once I have a DS. ... And it was only $17. I'm surprised they even released it on the DS though. I didn't think the version for the PS had such a great reception in North America.
Edit: My sister got a DS for her birthday... and I'm using it too biggrin
