Chanda slipped silently into his mate's room. It had been their room when he left, but it was hard for him to think of it that way just now since he had been gone a while without any notice. The merchant who had owned him earlier in life had past away and had unexpectedly left the crocodile some things in his will. Namely his stall and most of its contents, which he had picked through and chosen what he wanted, selling the rest.
Those things he had shipped and would arrive in a few days. He had taken one thing with him, a beautiful pendant made from a tossed river stone. When you turned it, you could see bands of colors across it, though the purples and pinks were the strongest. It reminded him of his mate who he longed to return to.
Before he realized it he was at their-her beside and she lay there, sleeping sweetly curled up like a kit. She was so beautiful and so sweet. Chanda often found himself lost without her. He sat on the beside and leaned close to her, stroking her hair. "Kitten...Chandas home."

Artesia was curled up, sleeping. She'd been lonely and sad. Her Chanda had left and she didn't know why. Had she made him mad? Had she done something wrong? She had cried herself to sleep a lot, and some of those who lived in the house worried she'd lost her happy cheer forever. She'd had bad dreams of him telling her she was worthless and leaving. At the touch, she shifted a little, though she didn't awake fully until he spoke. The owner of the house, Aria, often came in and checked on her, so she'd become used to gentle touches in her sleep. At his words, though, her eyes flew open, and she turned to look at him. Realizing it was real, and no dream, she sat up, and flung her arms around Chanda. "Chanda! Artesia missed you! Where were you? Why did you leave Artesia?" She nuzzled his face, and cuddled against him, worried he'd disappear, that it really was a dream...

"He passed away and left things for me in his will. Had to go take care of it or they would've just kept hounding me. I didn't expect to be gone more than a few days. I sent letters but the mail over there isn't exactly reliable." Chanda sighed contentedly and wrapped his arms around her.
"I'm not going anywhere now, not for a long time. So you don't have anything to worry about." He kissed her temple and rubbed her back, only then remembering the pendant. "Oh, I brought this home for you." He brought the hand that held it around and let the pendant dangle down in front of her so she could see it clearly. "It reminded me of you, do you like it?"

Artesia cuddled in close, and softly purrs to Chanda. "Mmm you're home, that's what matters, and Artesia is glad indeed to see her Chanda." She gives him a kiss on the cheek, then turns her head to peer at the pendant. Her eyes go wide and she looks mesmerized, reaching out to take it from him. She makes a soft, happy mew, and stares at it, like she could see into it, clearly fascinated by the colors of the stone, her fingers gently caressing it. "It's... beautiful..." She breathes out as she stares, her voice soft and almost lost in her fascination.

Chanda chuckled, dropping the pendant into her hands, his now free hand going back down to rub her back gently again. "I'm glad to be home my love." He rested his head atop hers gently. "I missed you."
The crocodile gave her a gentle squeeze and laid back against he pillows, tugging her very gently along with him. "And I'm glad you like it."

For a long minute, she stares in fascination, then as she's tugged to lay with him, she gives a slight shake, and purrs, beaming at him. "Artesia LOVES it. It's wonderful and lovely, just like Chanda." She sets it on the bedside table, so she can find a chain for it later, and focuses on him, cuddling in close. "Mmm so how was Egypt? Artesia has not gone back in a long time."

"It hasn't changed all that much, a bit more technology, nothing too major though. As for where I grew up though, almost nothing has changed." Chanda's hand slid up and ran through her hair playing with it gently. "Don't really want to go back anymore, unless there is a need or at the very least not alone." He smiled and tilted his head down to kiss her hair when she cuddled up to him again.

She listens to him, her arms sliding around him again. She ponders. "Egypt with modern technology. Some how, it is odd to Artesia." She beams up at him, her eyes bright and happy. "Artesia sees no need to go home. There are better places for Artesia to go. Anywhere you want to go, for example. Artesia wants to be there." She looks a little sad for a moment. "Artesia wishes she could have gone with you to Egypt, to help, though."

"I would have brought you with me if I could. They didn't even leave me time to pack a bag. So I went over there with nothing." Chanda sighed contently, everything was over now and he was back here where he was most comfortable. "On the bright side though, we have enough coin to go anywhere we please for quite a while."

Artesia blinked at him. "Really? Was HE that wealthy then?" She sighs. "Artesia certainly knows her old masters wouldn't leave her anything. After all, Artesia's Mistress would make sure of that..."

"He wasn't when I was there last time to look for a ring for you, apparently trading improved in the last few months. I sold the last of the stock from his stall and got good coin for it. A good deal of it was from foreign places, s'probably why."
Chanda's fingers continued to run gently through her hair. "I decided to keep back a few things from the stall for us, had to ship them though. Hopefully they'll arrive in one piece."

"Mmmm Artesia sees." She purrs at the feeling of his fingers in her hair. "Mmmm like what?" She looks excited, almost childlike in her joy. "Artesia's excited!"

"There is a couple of paintings, a set of soft silk bedsheets, and a few ornaments to hang up or place around the room. There is a few more things too, that I can't remember at the moment." Chanda smiled down at her.
"They said it should arrive a few days after I do. So we'll have a fun time unpacking things then."

"Ohhhhhh! Artesia can't wait! Silk bed sheets..." She sounds wistful. "Artesia slept on those when she was with her little Miss.... They were so nice... You are so nice to Artesia, Chanda!" She gives him a great big kiss.

Chanda kissed her in return, his arm tightening around her gently and the hand in her hair sliding through it to caress the back of her neck. "Anything for my lovely kitten." He whispered softly, pressing his lips against hers again.
He drew away again after a moment, his smile brighter than before. "I love you, with all that I am."
