I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
I've posted this in the ED as well. What do you guys think of
the pledge using the term under god? I think it violates the
constitution in a few ways. One, we have freedom of religion,
which includes Buddhism and Atheism, neither of which have
a specific god. It's offensive to some people.

All through high school whenever they did the pledge, I didn't even stand. I just sat there reading through it. That didn't go over too well with people around here 'cos I'm in the Bible Belt with all those crazy patriotic rednecks and such but oh well. I mostly didn't like the fact that they tried to force us to do it. The whole 'under god' thing never really bothered me that much 'cos I always saw it as just a generalization. That we are one nation under whatever god we may worship.

I think more people do believe in something really. And I believe that it's meant as a generalization. Like with whatever you may or may not believe in, we're still united. Or we're supposed to be at least but that's a whole other discussion neutral

I've always thought people should be more open minded about this. They're just exercising their freedom of speech in saying that. You have the right to not say it if you don't want to just like they've got the right to say if they so chose.

True. Mostly. Elementary schools often force the kids to say it.
Even public ones, where it's illegal to favor any religion. Making
them say anything involving god violates the constitution.
