Hello there! I'm Black!

Now you might be wondering what this thread is all about, yes? I am here to model our Aekea and render it all in 3-D.

I see this as a win-win because:

1 - We would have a 3-D model of Aekea
2 - We could have a town tour
3 - We could look around in the shops and buildings
4 - Good practice for me (Modeling (hard surface and organic), Texturing, Lighting and Rigging)

So what do ya say?

What I need is a LOT of references. When I mean a lot, I MEAN IT.

References needed:

[X] Blueprints of the entire town
[X] - Streets
[X] - Lots
[X] - Building placement
[ ] - etc.

[X] Blueprints of the individual buildings
[X] - View of the front (Line art and in color. Two must be separated. One for the modeling process and the other for texturing purposes)
[X] - View from the sides (Same as front)
[X] - View from the back (Same as front)
[X] - View from the top (Same as front)
[ ] - Floor plan
[ ] - View from the insides (all rooms if I'm taking the camera inside)

~~

For those who want me to model the insides of their buildings/stores:

You MUST have a floor plan and a view of the build from the insides. Like the views, one line art and the other is colored.

However, modeling your buildings is a service. The entire town itself, I'll do for free. The interior of the buildings have a price tag.

D8 I don't know how long the interiors are going to take me but I can tell you all right now, depending on the type of materials used for the texturing of the buildings and their interiors, the render time is going to be a VERY long one.

For a town tour, it's going to be even longer since we're talking about rendering frame by frame.

I want to start on this as soon as possible so that perhaps I can sharpen my skills when it comes down for the demo reel. owo

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to come and talk to me. =3

What I will be using:

Autodesk Maya 2009
Photoshop CS4
Final Cut Pro (Town/building Fly-throughs)

~~~~~~~~~~~~
User Image
Progress:
This is Ground Zero!
Not all of the buildings have been added.
Topography isn't finished.
Most current buildings still look blah.
Building 19 is in progress, near general completion. Minor details still needed.
Blue prints! I need them before I can get going on anything! XD
Yet hold me against the light, do you see any bullets inside?
Now what do you mean by blueprints? There is the town map, and many buildings are already claimed for individual shops, and some are apartments and such.
I'd like to give you as much information as we can....we have districts, and we can come up with roads, but we can't do much with buildings until all of them are taken, I can only guess.
I'm gonna be quite honest here, in order to undertake such an endeavor, we're gonna need to expand the town from just the wall encased small town with a giant crane in the middle. I say first we take the floor plan gaia's given us to work with and see what we can do to improve it. We might need to collaberate over msn or aim. I don't use gaia messenger, it fails too much on me.
prolly the best to reach me.
I can help sketch concepts for buildings.
I'm not gonna lie, I am absolutely useless for the actual construction of the blueprints. And I do agree that we're gonna need to discuss what we need to do, whose gonna do it, and how. This is prolly gonna be one of the top projects we do within the project, and I want everyone to pull in and do what we can.
well, with how gaia has the 4 towns set up, each town has different things to make it 'special'.
aekea has the furniture store, car dealership, and housing commission. Just imagine having to talk from town to town to do something as simple as eating lunch.... We can still keep the town a town without making it too big and congested, but practical.
That's true but then again look at how Barton and Durem are portrayed in the manga. D8 They're a heck of a lot bigger in there (or so it seems) than what is shown on the map.
Maybe what shown on the map is the down town area?
no, cause there's a huge wall that surrounds the entire town with only one way in, one way out.
I think Aekea is different in that aspect BECAUSE of those walls, like Faust said. Barton is a bit different because it's one of the original towns and they have much less buildings, likewise with Gambino.
I will say however that I do consider Aekea to have a lot of those 'basement' shops in which the entrance to the shop is near the lower part of a building, and takes place in a basement of a building that might not need it. We could expand down, add floors to buildings, sneak a building that may not necessarily be there once and awhile, but nothing too drastic.
But I'm only going to model from ground up. I need to be able to shave off the render time for the town tour. D8
A single room with full on textures and lights can take an hour to render out.
Oh, I thought you said you were only doing the outsides for now. The insides would cost extra. I was thinking that if some stores are underground (if it comes to that), people would pay you for that. I'm just saying that if we have to expand we can go down and up and not out, so we wouldn't give you more work without you getting profit.
Aye, Captain!
Now I understand what you were saying. XD
Yeah, expand downwards/upwards sounds good since we have walls. . . .
Do I have include to orc caves too? =O *is probably going to have to get help for that*
I'm going to say no on the Orc Caves, mainly considering we don't have any orcs in the project as of yet. The main town is our goal here for now. xD
