Lately your person's image has caught my eye. I know many people think it is cool but you dont need to show skin to be beautiful most girls show skin to feel like you fit in and want guys to think your sexy. Guys who do love that most likely not love YOU but love your body. I know it is hard but think you will know that one guy loves you for you and you can have a meaningful relationship.

sadly... america is a modernist environment and we do judge others based on what they look like.

Show too much skin and you are a whore

Don't show any skin and you are some psycho babble christian chick

wear all black you are emo or goth

wear a trench coat and you are going to kill people with a shot gun

wear a bandanna and you are in a gang...

When it comes right down to it... Everyone has something to say about anyone. And it is due to the fact that everyone has an agenda. They say what needs to be said to get their point across wether it is true or not.

Something to remember though is that whenever you hear someone stating the word "All" or a phrase that means "everyone" in a certain group, it means that they have an agenda and are trying to get you to believe their propaganda.

Hitler did it.

Hitler said that anyone (meaning all people) not of the arian race (blonde hair blue eyes) were deemed unfit and not worthy of anything above death or slavery.

His nazi propaganda is sadly why so many jews and people who looked "jewish" were killed for no reason other than to serve Hitlers agenda.

So you see... Just because you hear someone say that skin is sexy... does not make it true. It all started with one person or group saying so... then they spread the word until culture decided that since everyone was saying it... it must be true... which then nurtured growing boys to be conditioned to treat women like objects and demand skimpy clothing so that they could lust after them and then call them a whore/slut/tramp when ever they felt compelled to do so.

Thank you, good ol' united states of america for giving highly influential men freedom of speech first so that they could carry out their agenda.

neutral

(sorry for the brief rant there... xp )

We idolize beauty. And right now beauty is sex
PostPosted: Wed Jul 01, 2009 1:51 am

I think guys that only want women for sex can shove it. I am very opinionated when it comes to things like that. If a guy doesn't like what I wear, then he get get over it. I don't live to please.

There are solutions to this problem but they are highly inprobable.

I have to say, though, that men are not the only ones to blame. We women [[not ALL women, obviously]] have accepted and even embraced this lifestyle. Men want us to dress slutty, so we do. That make sense?! If we changed that, if we changed how we dressed and acted with each other, things would change.

I'm not saying that ALL women agree with this. There are those out there who mantain there standards and I have respect for them! We need more people, women AND men, who are willing to change society.

Like I said, not probable. *shrugs*

Things will change when we realize that they need to be changed. Until then, all we can do is bring up the issue.

But if you look at this from a biological point of view it makes sense. Biologically speaking the male of species are drawn to things in a female (hip and breats size most commonly) that dictate that she is fertile. As a male, biologically speaking, it is his duty to spread his seed and ensure the survival of his jeans to the next generation, and thus animal attraction.
The same can be said for humans. Although we evolved on a higher brainwave and thus we can decipher the meanings of the urges we feel, there is still a primitive instinct to attract mates. Hence why its common place for women to excentuate there breast size, or show off there figure more with either tight fitting cloths or just simply not wearing as much to show the curve in their hips. Men also try to attract a mate, but not always in the same fashion. There is a lot of things guys do to show there tough and manlness because biologically speaking, women are attracted to the alpha males.
So dont only look at this as a societal problem but its a biological way of the universe.

I acknowledge your point, and it is a good one. We naturally do try to impress the opposite sex. But the way we do it doesn't have to be dressing like sluts. Someone previously mentioned that we seek beauty and that right now sex is beauty. But why? Because we have slowly made it that way. Just look at the changes between television now and ten years ago. It's drastically changed. Sex is more socially acceptable. I'm not saying that sex is bad, just that it's not age appropriate.

So, if it's biological, then why was it less acceptable a few years ago? People were obviously able to attract a mate with out showing off their body before. Why do we women have to show off more and more to be found attractive?! It's f*cking ridiculous and I'm not gonna put up with it.

I think that if you wanna show off your body, fine. If that's the image you want to portray, then that's totally up to you. I'm just tired of all the young girls showing off their body. They look like little hookers. It's disturbing. Young girls don't need to be looking for a "mate."

Tssh, kids today eh?

A valid point, but speaking as a somewhat newbie transwoman, from what I have seen of my fellow sisters, there is a desire to want to fit in and pass as a biological woman.
And why not.

But as a result of that, you have these lovely people who dress in a way that is akin to what you describe. =P Obviously this isn't universally the case, but I have seen it happen quite alot.

I mean, they want to be beautiful and they want people to think that they are beautiful. But that's their choice, it's just not the kind of lady I am though. =P

True that is, but as I mentioned that it is not just a biological point, and possibly that restriction could have also pent up all the sexual energy. Although I would put it back further than 10 years because 10 years ago was 1999 and the sex in media was still big.
I would pin is back to the 1950s more when a religious upbringing was still the most popular form of an upbringing. The church has always seen premarital sex as bad, so children were brought up to think that. Than when the 60s came around, and everything changed. Society noticed they didnt have to conform to the teachings they were brough up with and could believe in what they wanted to. And the whole women's liberation.
The 70s were a little more tame, but still the message was the same. Even things like disco were viewed as suggestive dancing (much like Elvis in the 50s when he shook his hips which caused a huge issue).
The 80's. Need I say more, this was another big hayday for sex in the media with the rise of GLAM and hair bands, and it was celebrated to throw yourself at stars and let them have your way with you.
The 90s saw the rise in popularity of MTV which was a huge outlet to dictate you. Which would spread and the rest is well history. So its not to purely biology, as no problem ever has just 1 cause.

Here is a question... how young is too young to show off ones body?

The law states that a person must be 18 before they are allowed to go completely nude in front of cameras or on a stage.

Stage Mothers (mothers of girls who do beauty pageants) will dress 5 y/o's in a bikini or a provocative dress and do their hair and makeup the way a 20 y/o's would be for a night out clubbing.

Girls start developing at the average age of 13. (granted this age is becoming smaller each year due to hormones found in food)

Also... it seems that the older one gets the less and less clothing they seem to wear. ie... a 10 y/o will wear t-shirt and long short. 12 a tank and medium shorts, 14 smaller tank and tiny shorts, 16 bikini top and tiny shorts, and then 18 nothing but the bikini (when in public.... just an observation from where I live and what I see on TV)

so I guess we should ask ourselves... is life imitating art or is art imitating life?

If our society viewed and portrayed the naked body as art and not sold and showed it off as porn and things like that, I would be able to accept that, I think.

Yeah. The line between art and porn is insanely thin.

Jeans =/= genes. Just saying.

Sorry, I had a grammar Nazi moment. ;D

One time I wore rainbow suspenders and a necktie to school. It was hilarious. This one girl told me I had guts for wearing that. I wasn't sure if I should have smacked her or thanked her. xDD
