But resources have their limits if we cant take that seriously on earth how would we ever respect that in space just keep multiplying and planet hopping? lets say we had the technology to go to other solar systems in a mater of days, and we also have the ability to mold the planets to habitats of our liking, what if there was something else living there before us, even if its only as complex as worms. Its possible that things more complex the us exist, would it be right for them to do that to us if they simply wanted more space. I want our species to become a space faring race simply so that we don't have to die with the earth, or for that mater our sun. As long as we still have questions to answer I want our race to be working to answer them. But at the same time I wish we would be more responsible and humble about our existence. I'm not saying that we shouldn't colonize space but if we treat the resources on our new homes like we did on earth than what does that say about humans.
It is a safe assumption that most planets we will encounter would be devoid of life... so there shouldn't be any problem, as long as we leave alone the ones that have already life on them (if alien life happens to exist).
And yeah i hope that we wouldn't end up like in Babylon 5 if intelligent life forms exist out there... (Babylon 5 is some obscure sci-fi - had only watched a bit of it... but still enough to grasp the bad situations with humans against aliens)
All this remains speculative, but as George Friedman says: "When it comes to the future, the only thing one can be sure of is that common sense will be wrong." I have to agree with that...
