Tyche was, as usual, out by the ocean. She was currently scooping up different shells that had gotten stranded in the sand, and was going through them carefully. Sometimes, if you were lucky and extra extra careful, you could find a really pretty shell! And, even, you could find a good piece of twine or rope and put the seashell on it! Somehow, she wasn't really sure, but it had been done. She had seen a lot of the lions in the pride walking around with all kinds of shells and ocean things on them. It was really neat.
The little cub pounced at a sparkle in the water, hoping for a pretty shell, but found only a broken piece that got caught in the sunlight. She sighed, frowning, and made a face at the ocean. Why was it not giving her any good shells today? She had to build up her collection!
Pink and chocolate, colors contrasting her scenery as Aphrodite kept a nice distance from the shoreline. Ever since she was little, she had been afraid of the water. But she covered up this fear with something else, so that way her siblings couldn't make fun of her. Especially her sisters! She didn't mind her one brother, he wasn't the problem...but her sisters were another story!
Pink eyes roamed over the landscape as she silently cringed. Her sister was close by, and hopefully hadn't spotted her!

So far, Tyche hadn't noticed her water-fearing sister, and it was good for Aphrodite that she hadn't. The pretty shells (well, not-so-pretty shells would be a better description) had all of her attention at the moment. One of her little goals in life was, by the time she was an adult, to have a whole big collection of shells. And then she would make necklaces, bracelets, tail dangles, and more out of all her shells. The cub was also collecting any rope she could find that perhaps washed up on shore along with any other treasures she could find. It wouldn't be long before she would make up her own jewelry line and offer to make similar things for family and friends.
"C'mon, ye big thing 'a water. I need some shinies!" she yelled at the water, making another face at it.
Pink eyes held her sister in her gaze before she tilted her head slightly. What was her sister doing? Aphrodite wondered curiously before she heard her sister's yell. Well, a lot of good that's going to her. She mused as she shook her head.
At least if she didn't get too close then her colors would be alright. She adored her pink and didn't want it to fade or go away because of the water. She called out to her sister, "Just cause you want something doesn't mean you'll get it Tyche."

Tyche couldn't help the grin that quickly spread across her face at the sound of her dear sister's voice. "Aphrodite!" she called out, scampering over to her sister. "What are ye doin' out here?" Near the water? Nay, the pink cub would never willingly go near the water. Or unwillingly. She'd put up the biggest fuss in history. That's what she was good at, after all.
"Maybe not now," she added, "but sooner or later. I'll get it."
Her ear flicked, "I was heading away from the shore when your loud voice distracted me." Aphrodited taunted her sister, playfully of course. It was always in jest, even if she was a bit vain of herself. "There are some fun things to do in the forest around our den. I wanted to go and find some flowers!" The thought made the corners of her mouth curl up slightly.
"I'm sure...but can't you find any prettier ones?" She looked at the shells, not many of them were all that appealing to her. "What about a starfish? I'd love to have a starfish to wear." She raised her head proudly at the thought of wearing a starfish around her neck.

Tyche shrugged. "At least ye were payin' enough attention to hear me," she teased back with a grin. "There are flowers by the water, y'know. Pretty ones that can float." The cub knew that no matter how beautifully she described the flowers that she saw in the ocean, there was no way Aphrodite would get near enough to see them. She'd either demand for Tyche to bring one to her or not care at all. Typical, of course.
"I'm tryin' to find prettier ones. She's not givin' me any, though. 'Swhy I yelled. And no, ye can't wear a starfish around yer neck. It would die!" Tyche gave her sister a horrified look.
With a smirk she caught on to what her sister was implying and it didn't tempt Aphrodite any. "I'm sure there are pretty ones in the ocean, but I won't touch those. They're not for me to enjoy, they're for the ocean to enjoy. I'm sure if I were to take one of those some kind of bad thing would happen to me!" Her eyes widen slightly at the thought of bad luck befalling her.
Her head tilted slightly, "Well, I obviously wouldn't get a live one. That would be mean!" Eyes flicked around curiously, "What if you're looking in the wrong spot? I'm sure yelling at the water would just make it angry. You don't want it to eat you!"

She rolled her eyes. "Oh, and the earth doesn't get mad when ye pick flowers up out of her ground? What about the bad luck that comes from that, hm?" she retorted. With the amount of flowers picked around the whole world, Tyche doubted that the ocean would miss the few flowers it pushed onto the shore every so often, let alone get mad about it.
Oh, so she was a bit more logical than that. That was good. "Well, still. It used to be living. A starfish needs respect too. Actually, I might be lookin' in the wrong spot. Let's go farther down."
What if she was eaten by the ocean, hm?
She giggled softly at her sister. Fun banter, huh? "Nope! No bad luck from picking flowers on the ground." Her eyes twinkled as Aphrodite looked at her sister, "At least Poseidon wouldn't let anything happen to me if he could help it. He can be so overwhelming at times." She sighed at the thought of her lone brother trying hard to make a place in a litter full of girls.
"And the shells weren't living once either? It's the same thing, Tyche...except a starfish is pretty!"
"I'll keep a look out from here on the shore and you can keep a look out closer to the water. That way, with two eyes, perhaps we'll find prettier shells." At least in her mind it'd keep her away from the water.

Tyche blew a raspberry at her sister. "Yeah, right. We'll see. One 'a these days yer gonna get bad luck from the earth. And I'll laugh and laugh!" She giggled, but then nodded solemnly at the mention of their brother. The poor boy; he had such a hard time being the only of his gender in a litter full of girls. He tried hard, though. A valiant effort.
"Shells don't live. Little things live IN them, silly. And shells are pretty too!"
Yeah, with two eyes looking for shells. One pair would be on the water and all around it and the other pair in the complete opposite direction. Huffing with agreement, Tyche trotted down to the shore and walked in the waves, looking intently for the prettiest shells she was seeking.
For Kyt: plan is to have Tyche slip and fall into the ocean, faking that the ocean was 'eating' her, and Aphroditey is the only one who can save her. >D

A slight huff in her sister's direction, Aphrodite did not see herself getting any bad luck from the earth! But then again, maybe the earth wanted her pink for the flowers? That made her worry a bit...but she shook her head. Nah, her sister was just messing with her! She had to be!
"Oh really? Then how come there are all different sizes of shells? Do they just appear as different sizes?" She asked her sister.

She rolled her eyes. Did her sister not know anything about the ocean? Actually, Tyche didn't doubt it. Aphrodite didn't want anything to do with the large body of water in the first place, so she doubted that the pink cub would actually try and learn something about it. Silly her for even thinking otherwise.
"Because the things that live in 'em are different sizes, too. A really big...uh, slug, can't live in a itty bitty shell. It's gotta find one it's own size!" She explained easily, poking through the wet sand to find any good ones while she walked. Sometimes, if you looked in the strangest of places, you could find some really cool things.
Then, suddenly, she felt her hind foot sink into the sand a bit deeper. The water rushed to cover her limb and she flailed, trying to pull it out of the water. It wouldn't budge. The waves kept on coming faster, and faster.
"Aphrodite! Help! I'm stuck!"

Eyes were locked on to her sister as she heard Tyche cry out her name. After a few blinks, Aphrodite could see that her sister wasn't faking it. Could she? No. She shook her head, it looked like her sister was in trouble.
She bit her lip in fear. She didn't want to go anywhere near the water. She was absolutely terrified of it. The splashing of the waves and the splashing of her sister put together made her head swirl as her breath was getting caught in her throat. Why did she have to do this? WHY?! Physically trembling in fear, she was frozen in her spot.
" 'Dite!"
Even if she had been faking it (which she would have; she was just that mean to her sister), Tyche couldn't have timed it any better because just then, a huge wave came crashing towards her and the beach. She wasn't afraid, just a little nervous, because she couldn't lift her hind leg out of the sand at all. The water had continued to splash around her limb and the sand kept sinking. She had no grip whatsoever.
As the big wave came closer to her, it started to peak at its highest point. Tyche frantically tried to pull out her leg, knowing Aphrodite couldn't (or wouldn't) do much to help her because she was afraid of the ocean.
The trembles on her body wracked her hard and fast as the pink and chocolate female looked at the ocean. Her whole world was spinning. She closed her eyes and started to breath heavily.
She had to help her sister though. Her paw raised slightly to take a shaky step forward. And then another. After a few steps towards the shore, she felt the water touch her paws as she yelped in fear. Why was she doing this?! Tyche picked on her all the time, why help her sister? She knew her parents would not be pleased if they knew that she didn't help out. So she kept on walking forward, biting her lip till it bled to keep her from running out of the water in fear. Her sister better appreciate this, or else she'll be extremely bitter at her sister for this.
Tyche could hardly believe her eyes as her sister walked towards her. The world seemed to stand still, the wave wasn't moving any closer, as Aphrodite took one step after the other. Her eyes widened.
Oh, this was unbelievably perfect. She wiggled her caught foot around and it sunk a little deeper. But then she touched something solid. Solid enough to push her weight upon and she could very well free herself. She would wait, though, until her sister grabbed her before she pulled her foot.
Tyche was beginning to feel a bit terrible for dragging her sister out here; she was biting her lip so hard it was bleeding.
The wave broke.
As the water was going higher and higher on her body, her mind was telling all sorts of horrible deaths she'd have in the water. Once she got close enough to her sister, she reached forward to yank on her sister. And not being gentle at all, she hissed, "Come on!"
She wanted to get out of this water as soon as possible. Her body was turned towards the shore, as she stared forward, not wanting to look back at the water.
As soon as Aphrodite yanked her once, Tyche heaved her foot out of the sand and was very relieved to feel that it came out in just one try. She was released from her sister's grip almost instantly and she trotted up to the safety of the shore after her, quickly, just as the wave crashed down on where she had just been standing.
She glanced behind her and watched the water recede. Now she felt like going for a swim.
As soon as her sister was free, she made a bee-line for the shore. It didn't take her more than a couple of heartbeats to get out of the water and a far distance from it on the shore. Completely soaked to the bone, she shook vigorously to get the water off of her. With her paws and her tongue, she went about to clean herself before the water took her pink.
She eyed her sister, who looked alright. Well that's a relief, and went back to cleaning herself. She was not going to move from this spot for a while as her body was completely drained and she was so charged that her nerves were fried. And besides, her lip hurt.
Tyche couldn't help but smile slyly at Aphrodite as the pink female licked herself clean furiously. Oh, Aphrodite.
"You went in the water to save me," she said, almost in a teasing voice but not really. She was still thankful that her sister had braved the water to help, but that didn't mean her gratitude was going to last forever.
She was bound to make fun of Dite sometime.
She shook her fur off a safe distance away from her sister, still eyeing the water. If Tyche didn't know any better, she'd jump right back into the waves, but knew that her sister would be livid.
Her sister's voice made her eyes narrow. Aphrodite didn't like the sound of her voice at all. She was teasing her, she just knew it! Her tail flicked, completely annoyed at her sister now. "Next time I'll let the water eat you and be gone!" She was angry, but that anger was to mask her panic attack she just had.
Her ego was badly bruised as she turned her head in a different direction. Perhaps she should sleep? Yea, that sounded good.
Her smile only grew with her sister's hot retort. "Nah, you'd save me again. You didn't let the water 'eat me' this time and you wouldn't let it try a second time," her soft voice took on a more teasing tone, since she knew Aphrodite figured she was teasing her again, anyway. It's what Tyche did.
She butted her head against her sister's shoulder in a rough nuzzle before she turned and walked towards home. Today's adventure, while fun and interesting, had been enough to wear her out. And if she was worn out, she was surprised Dite hadn't collapsed yet.
She stuck out her tongue at her sister. Tyche was such a meanie! She didn't want to move as Aphrodite watched her sister go. Her eyes were heavy as they slowly closed and she fell asleep.
