one hardly picks up a great shounen (manga for boys, and girls- but violent and such) writen by a woman!!
i think she (and Rumiko Takahashi) sets a great example for all of those other woman manga-ka (manga artists) who like to draw cutesy girly things (which is alright to a certain extent).
*ehem.* ARAKAWA KICKS a**! thankyou.

well,DUH..everyone and their mom knows that arakawa sensei is a girl and that she made fullmetal alchemist,PLUS she kicks a**! rofl lol,im a huge fan,i dont know HOW she did it,but she made the best story plot ive ever heard,its not over-done like rumiko takahashis stories are that go on OVER and OVER and NEVER ends stare *cough* yeah,shes awsome..and i dont know HOW she got ed and al to be so popular,i mean..i look at other anime characters that are better drawn and "look" better,but edward still appeals to me more..i dont know why..@__@

Yup, she's rock awesome. And I like Rumiko Takahashi because there is always a new character. I own a lot of her works, but i really love FMA right now!

I read mostly shonen mangas, but there are some really good shojo mangas that still include fighting and such. Yuu Watase is one of my fav manga-kas! Her mangas can be so heart breaking and awesome, but still have just the right amount of violence that equals itn all out. She wrote the manga/anime Ceres! Ceres is awesome...along with inuyasha and FMA.
