RPing or Role Playing is something everyone enjoys doing. They choose to do it in their spare time with their friends as a sort of fantasy game. It's an escape from reality, in which the players get to do what they want within a set parameter (World, storyline, specifics like that...) RPing is supposed to be a fun way in which everybody contributes to a single and fascinating story of adventure, drama, and imagination.
With the formal definition out of the way we get to the good stuff.
Now to a point which everyone loves, ranting: pirate
Now I'm sorry if this offends a few people but as much as RPing has began to bug the hell out of me, and as much as rules suck to me, I can't sway off bad RPing.
#1 BE MORE SPECIFIC! I can't stress that enough. If you're going to do a lot of movement or activity, do use more than ONE ******** SENTENCE FRAGMENT to try to get that across!
#2 CONSIDER BELIEVEABILITY! Now this should contain a lot of grey area, but you should still consider consequences and possibilities durring an RP, even if it's not so serious. LEAVING A ******** FIGHT JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO GO TO BED, (in the RP not in RL) IS A GOOD WAY TO ******** EVERYBODY OVER! Why the hell are you MORONS so INCONSIDERATE?! I swear we could replace you with typing chimpanzees and NOBODY WOULD TELL THE DIFFERENCE! Even though It's an RP not everything will be magically taken care of. (more on #2 later BTW.)
#3 NO GODMODDING! Why the hell should I even have to say anything?! If you don't know that that means you should be taken away from your computer and put in a catholic boarding school where Irish red headded stepchild nuns BEAT YOUR FINGERS WITH YARD STICKS!
a. Don't do too many actions in one post unless you can clearly control time. particularly casting spells takes time, you can NOT just cast 4 times in a single post.
b. You opponent has to be able to defend either by logic, dice roll or whatever.
c. It's rare (if at all) that one can actually use 100% accuracy attacks.
d. You can't kill your opponent without them being able to agree or submit first.
e. Something can't just MAGICALLY happen. If you can't explain how it can happen, then IT CAN'T HAPPEN! End of story! So somebody better be able to vouch for you.
#4 NO META-GAMING! Ok not everybody knows about this one so I'll be calm and fair and give you a nice warm explanation on why you shouldn't do it and what the hell it is.
Meta-gaming = Having your RP character use valuable information they DON'T know. If you weren't told this information or there's no possibility you could have learned of this information IN RP, you can NOT use what you learned outside the RP to cheat. It's essentially cheating! The worse thing is inspite of it's dishonorability, It's difficult to catch. If you are caught you should be hung from the Guillotine and while your head is still alive, thrown into an Iron Maiden.
Don't do it, It sucks all the fun out of RPing, it makes talk about the RP outside of the RP aggrivating and not worth doing.
#5 If it's something that EVERYBODY is supposed to be aware of, MAKE IT KNOWN! Now maybe I'm just a little too touchy about this, but If you make a major event occur, put it somewhere where EVERYBODY can find it. Don't just leave it hidden in the RP forum itself for everyone to sift through HUNDREDS OF PAGES to find. Put it on the FIRST ******** PAGE OR MAKE A CLEAR NOTE ON THE TITLE OR THE FIRST PAGE TO TELL THEM WHERE TO LOOK! It will save YOU AND EVERYBODY some much unnecessary CONFUSION!
There are some things I'm probably missing and I may add them to this little rampage in the future. Now about #2...
Tiger, Tiger, Tiger... I know you want to improve your RPing but I'm telling you now, you have a LONG way to go if you truly want to improve.
#1. GRAMMAR! You still have problems with that when you post sometimes.
#2. DETAIL! Half the time nobody knows what the hell you're doing! It's hard to understand if you aren't clear on your actions! You'll need even more detail if you're going to be RPing with multiple characters.
#3. CONSIDERATION! Some of your current roles aren't ones you actually follow up on, namely:
a. As a single parent you shouldn't have much time to train since you have to raise 3 children, not 1, not 2, but 3 Children. You hardly watch them, you don't send em to school, you barely even take care of them. It's irresponsible! If you wanted that many kids you should have realized the commitment it takes to take care of them. Considering they don't go to school and they don't have a decent nanny or babysitter It's doing them no good to remain with you.
Taking them on a dangerous journey to aveng your parents by sailing to a far away country to fight some powerful enemy, is a BIG NO-NO! And I shouldn't have to tell you that!
It's not a good sign if you have 3 kids and they aren't the first and foremost things on your mind and in your life. What you do half the time doesn't show the maturity of being a parent or even an adult for that matter.
b. Your usual demeanor could hardly be called heroic. It's a disgrace for you to claim that title with your actions. With most heroes they will try to change their foes point of view with words and not resort to violence and especially murder unless they have NO OTHER CHOICE!
"If It's evil or against us, we kill it!" is the adamant stance of a warrior of Lawful Evil. They manipulate the system and their good graces to their advantage and they allways seek revenge for whatever previous scorn they feel from opposition.
A hero would be someone for the people to look up to. Someone for the people to idolize. A person who looks out for the good of the people. Most importantly, a hero would be someone who didn't give up on his dreams and inspite of his goals for greatness never forgot the people he saught to protect. Where's that hero with the genuine desire to protect at all costs rather than fight for personal gain? Where's the savior of the people who saught to make things right in the world because he believed it was up to him to right the wrongs rather than just kick some villain's a**?
All I see is a childish man who barely even takes notice of his 3 children. talk2hand
Ryu, and Awesomega, I could pretty much throw the book at you for the same reasons I covered on Tiger, as well as #3a #3c #3d and #3e from the top. Scratch that, ALL of #3 from the top.
Tyran, things aren't lookin' too good for you either.
Now that that's all out of the way, I await your vulgar replies and "hypocrite" cries in the unlikely event that any of you even read this far. I'm prepared to refute my actions, are you?
