Raiteign padded over to a likely looking pile of trash, refusing to admit his own cowardice. Vaertun had asked for help looking for the missing cats, yes, but he had also mentioned suspicious looking cats prowling around and what good could Raiteign possibly do, wandering off on his own down the alleys and other dark places? Confront the cats over their wicked ways? Ha! No, best to stay in the junkyard. Come the worst case scenario, Raiteign was less likely to become just one more missing cat, and come the best, he might stumble across the missing cats, hiding or too distracted to notice that everyone was looking for them. And then he'd be a hero. Right? Right?

Gambidoro laid happily on a tire atop a more large pile of trash, basking in the sunlight. Sure, he had been notified of the catnappings and such, but who even knew if the shady cats that had been lurking around lately had stolen away the fellow Jellicles? Perhaps they weren't even stolen, maybe they had just left. He looked over the Junkyard lazily. All sorts of other species resided here--cats, dogs, birds, mice, rats... It wasn't exactly rare to see other animals here, but maybe if he saw one of the 'missing' cats, he could prove that it was a bunch of over-exaggerating. He chuckled to himself lightly, looking around yet again. His ears perked as he noticed a particularly skittish looking cat. Perhaps he was one of the missing cats? He slowly, lazily got up, taking every ounce of time he wanted, and began padding down the trash-pile towards the stripped brown cat. "Hello there!" He called, waving his tail slowly, smiling.

To Raiteign's frightened eyes, the brown and cream cat was the largest he had ever seen. And he walked with a confident air, even smiled, as if there was nothing to fear, no suspicious cats lying in wait. And, worse yet, this cat was a stranger.

Enough of that. The cat was large, true, but also slow moving (an act?) and had yet to attack or make any threatening moves. Besides, most of the cats Rait had met were bold and confident, especially when compared to his own manner. "H-hello," he called back, not wanting to be rude. "I'm Raiteign. I- I was just wondering if maybe you might be one of the missing cats?"

Gambidoro sped up his pace slightly, a bit of a bounce in his step after the small cat had greeted him. He stopped far enough away that, in his opinion, was close enough away that he assumed wasn't threatening. Which turned out to be pretty close, anyway. "Gambidoro! But call me Gambi," He chirped, bowing his head in respect. He shook his head at the second part of the sentence, sighing a bit. "Afraid not. Haven't seen any either, I don't think," He tilted his head slightly, furrowing his brows. "Are you one of those shady-cats?" He sat down and curled his tail around his paws, his face still questioning.

Raiteign leaned back slightly as the other cat approached, moving faster than before and stopped slightly too close for comfort. He relaxed slightly, however, as the other cat bowed his head, and returned the gesture. "A shady-cat?" Rait stifled a laugh. Perhaps there was nothing to worry about, if the cat was worried he might be a shady-cat. Unless it was an act... but that was unlikely, this cat - Gambi - was, to all appearances, quite friendly. "No, I'm not a shady-cat. Nor am a missing cat, to the best of my knowledge."

"Good!" He chirped again, suspicious look turning into a grin. He hadn't exactly believed that he was a catnapper, or shady-cat of any sort, but... "So you're looking for the missing cats, correct?" He yawned, beginning to wash his paws. "Perhaps you'd like to team up?" He looked up from his paw-washing, tilting his head a bit in question.

Rait tilted his head as well while he considered the offer. Gambi appeared to be friendly enough, and if he was truly one of the shady-cats he would have acted by now. And this was a way to help, wasn't it? To really do something? Best yet, he wouldn't have to explore on his own, and was much less likely to become one more victim. Besides which, he was starting to like this Gambi cat. "Teaming up sounds wonderful," he purred. "Where do you want to explore first?"

He was on a scouting mission. His only purpose was to figure out exactly what was going on, cats were looking, they were worried, they knew that much.. but just how much did they know? Just how worried were they? Were there any good opportunities for more damage to be done? All were valid questions the lone feline hoped to find the answers to while stalking through the junkyard, the home base of the Jellicles so to speak.

Distracted from his work at the moment the two Jellicles spoke, almost chasing after a rat that scurried by- he was only a cat, after all! Just as he knocked over a can with a loud CRASH, he stifled a growl and jumped away- almost into plain view of the pair. He scrambled back behind a pile of junk, wondering if he'd been spotted.

"Maybe we should try--" Gambi was cut off by a loud crash from behind him. He spun around quickly, tail lashing, only to see a grey-and-white cat shaped blur scurry behind a pile of junk. "Who goes there?" He snarled, ears pinned back. For all he knew it could've been a large bird, or one of the missing cats. He pressed closer to Rait, whether in fear or for a sense of protection for the skittish cat, and crouched as if ready to run, full speed at the being behind the pile.

Rait hissed at the sudden noise and tried to simultaneously arch his back and press down into the ground, with mixed success. "Yeah," he repeated, trying to sound brave, "Who goes?" He pressed close to Gambi as well, glad of the other cat's protection. Things would be going very differently right now if he was alone.

Cursing himself for his clumsiness, he knew he'd been caught. He did not think to slink away now and leave the Jellicles with greater paranoia as the enemy dared to invade what they seemed to think was safe territory. What did enter his mind was that an outright attack would be more interesting and just as dramatic, causing just enough trouble.. perhaps even help him find out just how much was going on.

With a cackle he jumped up onto the pile of junk he fell behind, almost losing his footing again but managing to stay standing. With another leap, he was on top of the pile, staring down at the brave pair. He had revealed himself, what would they do now?

Gambi gave a small hiss of surprise when the cat reappeared. So this cat was serious, then. Not some stray who had simply fallen, not a kidnapped cat... No, this cat was an all-out catnapper, and he looked ready to fight. He gave a heavy sigh, and sat neatly, his tail curled around his paws. Always so ready to fight these days. Perhaps he'd try talk peacefully? But if all else failed, he wouldn't mind showing this cat a thing or two about snatching defenseless cats.

Gambi gave a polite dip of his head to the cat. "Come with us peacefully, and no one will need to be injured," He sighed, looking up at the cat challengingly.

Rait hissed as the strange cat revealed himself and surprised himself by arching his back as well. He felt... frightened, yes, but there was some other emotion there, one we couldn't quite pin down. Almost a feeling of excitement. But that couldn't be right, could it?

"Come with us peacefully, and no one will need to be injured."

Relax. Raiteign bit off the end of his hiss, but kept his back arched, leery of an attack. Nonchalant, look nonchalant, he thought desperately. Not so... aggressive. Like a damn cat napper. What if this cat is innocent?

His laugh became louder when Gambidoro bravely offered him a chance to come peacefully. With a smug grin, he dared to take his eyes off the pair of them and look around, he could see more cats off a ways but there was no knowing if they realized what was going on. He looked back to the two of them, the squiggly one looked worried.

"Does that ever work?" he asked with a laugh, then jumping down one level, still barely above them. He said nothing else, but leaned back on his feet, a sure sign he was just about to jump again, this time aiming right for them.

Gambi sighed, shaking his head. So the cat didn't want to come peacefully? Well, that had certaintly marked him off as one of the missing, or escaped cats... He smirked, looking back up. So the cat didn't want to come peacefully? So be it. He'd make him come, forcefully if needed. He gave the cat a challenging glare, still smirking to himself.

"Stay here," Gambi muttered under his breath to Rait, pinning his ears back. No, he didn't want the skittish one beside him to get injured. He stepped forward, eyes bright and ready to fight. He may look large and unfit, but he was quite agile for a cat his size.
