This whole business of catnappings had Quietstion dreadfully worried. She had yet to be close to any of the Jellicles that had been kidnapped - her family had only let her roam outside for a few months now, anyway - and yet she shuddered to hear of all the cats that had met some horrible fate. She didn't want to think about what the motivations of the kidnappers were, but she knew that they couldn't be good.
For the most part, the female had been keeping to relatively populated areas. The park seemed like a good bet, even if a few less cats were around as of recent. Watching the usual ongoings, she was curled on a park bench, her tail wrapped around her paws and her eyes half-open in a quiet content that only a sunny spot could bring.

'No youths allowed' my tail! Sazoimun thought, creeping about the park with a smug grin. He had managed to slip away from the group when most of the adult had left to get whatever they all had ants in their fur for. Not like it was a problem for him to slip away unnoticed, even as a kit he had a keen ability to slip away, to practically disappear. Most adults had refused to tell the youth what was going on, yet a few had let tidbits of information slip. From what he had gathered, there were shady cats sneaking around and stealing cats. But they won't get their paws on me! He thought, a bit of a proud strut slipping into his stalking about. I'll bring them back all by myself, an' I'll be a hero!
However, in all of this thinking, he hadn't seen the tree root in front of him and... Promptly fell on his face.

She heard the little one before she saw him, tilting her ear back towards the soft thump that was the result of him falling forward. Startled, she quickly moved to all feet, her tail briefly bristling before she caught sight of the young male. Her face knit in concern. She recalled - and supported - many of the others telling all of the curious kittens to remain home, and that their parents should keep a wary eye on them. But this little one was all out on his own! Where were his parents? Why wasn't anyone keeping an eye on him?
Slipping down to the ground, Quietstion hurriedly pawed over to the kitten, nosing him behind the ear with a worried flick of her tail. The poor thing was going to hurt himself if he wasn't careful.

For as long as the mystical feline had been sitting on the bench, the dark female lay hidden high above her on a tree branch, keeping an eye on the park and this particular Jellicle. Tricky business, being so far from the rest of the community but wandering so close.. As the older Jellicle seemed not to be causing much trouble where she was, the watchful cat above her did nothing. She was just about dozing off when suddenly a bright little fellow tumbled on a tree root. A tree root that just happened to be at the bottom of her tree. It woke her back up very quickly. She glanced up over her shoulder and turned with a grin to look back down on the scene below her. Charming little fellow, good natured lady.. she need not interrupt the pair of them. But she would keep an eye on them, hoping her dark fur would keep her hidden.

Sazoi giggled, wriggling about to avoid the cold nose in the back of his ear. "Th-that tickles!" He laughed, rolling over on his back to face the mystical. He flashed a big grin, bright blue eyes wide. "Hi there!" He chirped, unaware of the black-and-white female in the tree above them. He tilted his head at the cat above him, still grinning, though with a bit of confusion in his eyes. "Who're you?"

The corners Quietstion's mouth turned up in a small, reassuring smile and a shake of her head. Never mind that. Never mind that she'd never spoken her own name, much anything else. Never mind that this adolescent might not entirely understand why this female wouldn't talk to him. Her tail waving in slow pendulum motion behind her, she raised a paw and waved it encouragingly towards her. Here was no place for the kitten to be. She was certain he'd want to go home on his own later, and she'd accompany him if need be. But there were others about, horrible others that could do horrible things. The last thing she could do was abandon the little one to whatever was waiting under their noses (or above their heads, which the female was still oblivious to). She waved her paw again, then patted the ground, hoping the little one would understand the silent message and stay near her.

Sazoi tilted his head in faint confusion of why the mystical wouldn't speak. Maybe she didn't have a name. He frowned a little, in thought. That wouldn't be nice, not having a name. Or maybe she just couldn't talk? Mama had told him about cats like that, that didn't speak. He shook his head, shrugging off the subject. He rolled over and slowly got up, stretching in the process. "Well, my name's Sazoimun, but--" He cut himself off as he realized that the mystical probably couldn't, or wouldn't call him by his nickname, or his full name for that matter.
Finally noticing her attempts to draw him closer, he hesitated slightly, but relaxed. This was a nice cat, a good cat, he could tell. He flashed another big grin and shuffled over to her, head bowed in respect. Mom always said it was good to respect your elders, though this cat may not be an elder, she was older than him.

Interesting, very interesting. The larger one could not speak, but could she cry out? Had she been sitting here all evening keeping an eye on someone who actually posed no threat to them? She sent another quick look over her shoulder before repositioning herself on the branch. Her tail swayed and her ears turned as she continued to listen in.

What a little gentleman! Sazoi was, it seemed, fast capturing the heart of the older female before him. He was a darling thing, and it was so nice to see youths with manners; it had become, it seemed, more and more infrequent amidst the newer generations, something that always dismayed Quiet. She had been raised with the utmost strictness, something that kittens seemed lacking. But not this one. Sazoimun, was that his name? She inclined her head slightly at his show of respect. A soft purr rumbled in her chest. It wasn't entirely necessary to speak to show her emotions, no.
But now was no time to be enamored with polite kittens, no. Things were outright dangerous. She was certain that there was some way that they could both find a safe please to be and for her to entertain the little one. Her eyes briefly scanned the landscape before falling onto the trunk of the tree at their very paws. A quick glance up glazed over the hawk-eyed female, leaving her unseen for now. But the kitten would enjoy a good climb, Quiet was sure, and the height would give them a better view of the area. They could relax there for a little before Quiet felt obliged to lead the kitten home. With a sweep of her tail, she moved over to the base of the tree, standing on her hind legs and resting her forepaws on the bark while glancing back at the kitten. A little gentleman or not, surely no self-respecting kitten would turn down an opportunity to play?

Sazoi's eyes brightened at the gesture to play, tail flicking happily. He bounded over, but stopped mid-step as he got especially close to the tree. Something... Something didn't feel right. He furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head in confusion. He just couldn't place it. Perhaps... He gave a quick glance over the tree's base, but abandoned it quickly. It was no matter, he trusted this cat greatly, perhaps more than he trusted his kin. He hadn't seen them much lately, anyway...
Sazoi shook that off. No need for deep thinking when there were trees to climb! A wide grin spread over his face as he stood next to the mystical, and joined her in standing on his hindlegs, though he was a bit shorter than her, and put his forepaws on the rough bark. He looked back up at her with a polite smile and a dip of the head as if to say 'Ladies first?'

Just when she thought she was going to be able to remain comfortably in the tree, listening in on the Jellicles as they.. she realized what exactly was going on. They were going to climb her tree, an idea which put a wicked grin on her face. It was too perfect, while of course having a bit of a downside.. but they might never know that! She held back a snicker, slowly and carefully turning herself around.
Almost turned around, she was caught off guard by a strong wind that suddenly blew through the park. Somewhere else in the tree, there was a loud yelp-- but the dark female managed to hang on to the tree and keep her spot, her ears turned at the sound, her grin became a frown and her eyes fell to the two below her.

With another flick of the tail and a playful expression that was generally reserved for younger felines, Quietstion began to scale the tree with surprising ease. She already had claws on all four paws buried into crannies of the bark when the wind gusted by. Her grip held fast, luckily enough; she had been in much rougher, more dire situations where having a good grip was imperative, so she was well trained. But even with the wind blowing into her ears, her hearing was still above par - enough so that she heard the yelp loud and clear. Quickly, she turned her head to the source.
There was something, some other cat up in the tree somewhere. It could have been a kidnapper, or it could have been another Jellicle hiding from the sudden London menace. But what to do? If they went down, they could escape, but in escaping lied the danger of being exposed to whoever was in the tree. Maybe there were even more of them; she wasn't sure. Scaling the tree would give them a better vantage point, certainly, but if whatever was up there was not on their side, it would be like walking willingly into the jaws of death.
But now was no time to ponder. Now was the time to act. Glancing down at the kitten standing at the base of the tree, she glanced upwards once more - her ears still tilted to the direction the yelp had come from - then nodded encouragingly for him to follow. They stood a better chance in the tree; or at least, so Quiet was desperately hoping.

Sazoi watched her climb, grinning and flicking his tail in anticipation. jumped at the yelp, flicking his ears back before looking up the tree fearfully. Had she hurt herself? He peered around quickly, narrowly missing the black -and-white shape in the tree limbs. No, there she was. He breathed a large sigh of relief. Thank goodness... He flicked his ears back up at the gesture to come up. So it wasn't her who had yelped. 'Huh," He muttered as he leapt up onto a low branch. Finally! He thought, leaping up onto the next branch. Some adventure! Maybe it's a catnapper, or one of those missing cats! He grinned to himself as he leapt nimbly from branch to branch before reaching the branch below her.
"What now?" Sazoi whispered, looking up to her.

They didn't see her, this was working out nicely. Her frown once again became a grin, and once the pair of them were in her tree, she did not hesitate in moving closer to the trunk of the tree. She listened carefully to the sounds of the two Jellicles climbing when she couldn't see them, careful to be still when she could.. they stopped below her and then she couldn't help but laugh.

Quietstion gave a careful nod to the youth behind her. At least he was safe - even if he seemed certain that this was all part of the game. She supposed that was an alright thing to think; it was a much better way of seeing the world, thinking it was all a big game. He'd have to learn one day, she knew, but...for now, she let him live in his adventure world.
Where had the yelp come from? That was the next manner of business. She knew she had heard it - Sazoi had heard it too, she saw his ears flicker - and was concerned about the source. Still, she didn't see or hear anything... Placing a paw on the trunk, she prepared to continue up the tree until the chuckle of the female rang in her ears. Hastily, she turned to the sound, then bristled when she saw the feline contently curled on the branch above them, as if they belonged there. Quiet took a step backwards, closer to Sazoi. This was what she was worried about all along. But she wouldn't abandon the kitten now. She could, would fight, if she needed to. Her ears pinned against her skull and her raised hackles spoke for her.
