As they made their way thought the village towards the command center Midori couldn't help but feel unease and a sense of urgency as her enhanced eyesight allowed her to spot several pillars of smoke rising in the far distance.
She couldn't be 100% sure yet, but each pillar seemed to corresponded to the rough location of a small nearby settlement. In fact as far as she could tell the only location that didn't seem to have a pillar was the hidden village itself, thought wither that was because the resident ninja had warred off the source of the fires...or worse WHERE the source of the fires was hard to say.
Arriving at the tower that marked the center of the village and contained Shinjoshu's office (among many other administrative functions) Midori put off the usual expected formality due to the urgency of the situation and simply barged straight thought the doors and into the foray.
Dozen of chunnin messengers where dashing about in a hurry and the entire place was abuzz with chaos, a large contrast from its usual serenity.
Ignoring the many chunnin that where fluttering about Midor deftly made her way towards the 5th floor where missions towards the audiance room where Missions where handed out. The Shinjoushu could almost always be counted on to be their at this time of day and if she wasn't, well then they'd just have to head to her office instead.
As if sensing her irritation at their presnces the sea of chunnin parted aside in Midori's wake, allowing her and her two followers to pass through quickly and unmolested. Climbing the stairs in record breaking time even for her the trio soon burst straight into the meeting room only for Midori to gasp in surprise as instead of seeing her old friend Vix and her two advisers and 3 assistants as was expected sat the village council.
"What the hell is going on here? Where is the the Shinjoshu?" Demanded Midori in exapseration. Elder Kyron a batish old lady blinked back at her. "Why, we where hoping you would be able to tell us that." replied the elder. If anyone should know it WAS Midori after all since she was Vix's right hand woman.
"Send someone to find her right now. We've come under attack but an unknown enemy" Declared Midori heatedly. Elder Kyron nodded wearily and sighed. "So, it seems we where a target of their aggression after all as well...." she moaned.
"What do you mean as well... explain" Midori demanded knowing she was pushing things with the elder further then she had any real right to but too grouchy to really care.
"At precisely 16 hundred hours we started to recive reports that all of the nearby settlements for over a 1000 mile radius had come under attack. It only follows that we would be next." Explained the elder patiently.
Midori's face visably paled. That was about the same time that her group had come under attack as well. Clearly they where dealing with a large force if it was able to cause damage on this scale. This was too big to be a simple skirmish from the remenents of a small pmc group she had destroyed like she had expected it to be but far bigger... This was outright war.
"It is also not coincidentaly the same time we lost any contact or trace of the Shinjoshu who seems to have dropped off of the face of the planet" Added the elder.
Midori blanunced. Could the whole thing have been nothing more then an elaberate distraction in order for the enemy to kidnap Vix? But why would they go to such lengths What could possibly be the purpose.
"This brings us to our main problem. As a Jounin you know the founder of the village and the first gaikukage Ebizz has been in a coma for almost two years now with Vix acting as her replacement in all but name. For some time now the concil has been debating about wither or not to make to offically make Vix the new gaikukage but since it was possible Ebizz could recover we hesitated....afraid of what the other hidden villages would think."
"However it is only a matter of time before they find out and given the current emergency situation and the dissaparence of Vix we have decided that it is the village requires... no NEEDS leadership at least temporarily anyhow if we are to emerge from this crisis victorious." explained the elder.
Midori nodded. She didn't like them deciding to pick a new leader so quickly after Vix had gone missing but she couldn't fault their reasoning behind it. To remain headless now on the cusp of a war was to invite death and destruction upon the entire village.
"Ok who have you picked to appoint gaikukage then Kyron-sama?" Midori said at last remembering to at least show the elder some modicum of respect now that she had calmed down a bit. The Elder simply smiled back at her. "Why we've picked you of course" replied Kyron putting special emphasis on the word you causing Midori's jaw to practically hit the floor and her mind to blank out from sheer shook.
A small part of her that still had sense left wondered just how Yuki and May would react to this news.
ooc: My japense isn't very good, but Gaiku is a word for town so Gaikukage would mean Town's shadow.

Yuki had been traveling through the village with Midori and May. He was pretty sure he knew where she was going, but being a bit of a newbie, he was glad he could follow her. Yuki listened to the conversation, albeit a bit over his head, and turned to look when Daniel arrived. Hearing that Midori would be the new gaikukage, Yuki was a bit more than just startled. He was dumbfounded. His new teacher would be leading the whole village! Of course, Yuki could see why they had chosen her, at least a little. She was obviously very innovative and a great leader. Still, Yuki wasn't quite sure whether he should congratulate her. He wasn't even sure he could if he wanted to. Finally he was able to speak. "So, Midori-sama," he said, realizing the formal respect that was now due to her, "How should we proceed?" Yuki was a bit nervous in his speaking; he didn't know if he should in this situation. But he had to know. He had to be able to help in any way that he could.

Zira looks skeptically "I know our ninja are fast but to be able to cover 1,000 miles for an attack at 4 pm same day. I think that there would be some ninjas in the hospital." is this involving the RP or is this some thing else? also you neglected the time it is at that point. also random fact I'm in the top ten of the guild posts and I'm almost never posting

Anyhow yes this is invovling the rp.
Of course this wasn't my orginal plan for the plot but when Vix placed me and Death in charge of the guild it was just too good a story opportunity to pass up having this reflected somewhat with my character

Daniel ran into the statergy command, running as quickly as possible, breathing heavily and using the walls to support himself as he used all of his chakra to escape from the Moon Forest. Knowing that Vix would be in her office on the thrid floor, he slowly made his way up the stairwell. He soon reached the third floor landing and made his way to Vix's office, only finding Midori with another ninja in the office as well as the council leaders. Although he was now a chunin, he decided to wait and not interrupt them, unsure of what the group was or were talking about.

In a dull flash of red light, Death and Flagenza warped into the village from the Moon Forest. They had successfully returned from a climactic fight with a behemoth. It was brutal and they had to bring attention to the higher authorities, it was extremely unlikely that this was the end.
Thanks to his luck, death wound up materializing upside down and he crashed, head first, onto the ground. "Oh geez, that's gunna leave a mark. Are you OK Flagenza? We need to get to the Command Center right away, c'mon!" Flipping over, Death got up and started heading for the center of town with no delay. Fortunately, they had appeared only a few blocks away from their destination.
When he arrived at the tower, Death threw open the doors and screamed, "Everybody move or I'll eat you!" Everybody froze and stared at him. Apparently, these chunnin weren't aware of Death's odd methods and they were just weirded out. "Close enough, just don't get in my way." Death quickly made his way to the stairs and up to the 5th floor in search of Vix.
Arriving at the top of the stairs, Death was just about exhausted from the battle and the quick climb. In an unintelligible garble of words, Death managed to get up and enter the meeting room. Death's words were still hard to make out and slurred together into a chain of random syllables, "Oh my God! Igodanewzasomtinsay." Taking a deep breath, Death tried again, "Hey everybody, hi Midori." Death paused to breathe. "Anyone know where Vix is?" He took another breath. "And I need a medic. So does Flagenza. He should be here in a second."
Catching his breath, Death finally realized the people who were around him. It was a group he really didn't expect to be seeing right now. Something was obviously going on that he didn't know about. "Um, what exactly's going on right now?"

flagenza bulled him self off the ground his ribs hurting but he ignored it. he quckily summoned up some chackra and performed a simple healing jutsu on his arms and ribs, it was only temporary but it would hold. he followed behind death closely as flagenza's 8 chicks appreared to help support him if need be. death was breaking away faster and faster. flagenza eventually caught up and very similerly to death burst stopped at the top of the stairs.
"hey everybody..... i really need a medic." flagenza neeled down using his good arm to support him. with that much speed focused so quickly he had ran through his entire healing jutsu already. most of the chicks just bobbled around behind him.

"Congulations Master." said May causing Midori to blink as she realized with a sinking feeling that no this wasn't a dream, and was very very real As Midori began to return to her senses after the intense shock of being told that she had been chosen to be the new Gaikukage she silently mouthed "why me." As if reading her mind (or more likely her lips) Elder Kyron smiled and began to explain. "All me to elaborate. While their are many capable Jounin such as Death with in the village none have managed to build quite the storied reputation that you have."
"It was you who lead the mission that later became know across the nation as the great massacre exam, depriving several enemy villages of entire classes worth of ninja. It was You who has lead a team to victory in the Cell wars not once, but twice an unpredicted feet. It was you a mere chunin at the time who fraught the second strongest Gaioh nin Chaos to a standstill. And many accomplishments besides. I could go on all afternoon but the point is, your name has become both respected and feared across the land as the Angel of Death. Few are those who would dare to oppose you and even fewer are those who would live to tell the tale. That sort of ruthlessness is exactly what we need in this situation as after years of relative weakness must establish that this is not a village to be trifled with." belted out Kyron with a grand sweep of her arms.
Midori nodded. While she did not think herself particularly inclined to leadership she knew how could she was at meeting out death and destruction in her wake if she so chose. The had picked her in order to figuratively bring the hammer down on this new enemy to that the next potential attacker would think twice before attempting an assault. The elders it seemed where playing hardball. This wasn't just a mere skirmish anymore but an all out war as she had been all but officially ordered to annihilate the source of the attack. "Very well then, I accept the position. Now let's get down to business." said Midori with a sinister grin on her face. It wasn't often she was given free reign to do her work as an assassin and she would relish it for a long as possible.
"Now Zira to answer your question of course not all of our ninja could cover that distance in such time. However the Village does have a surveillance network and ninja posted in many of the relevant locations throughout our country so it's no surprise we where able to learn so much about the situation after the fact." She said before turning to Death and flagenza just as Death was asking about Vix. "Vix....is...Vix is missing. She's vanished with out a trace so now I'm in charge for the moment..." she paused as she noticed their injuries. "For Zarthans sake" she exclaimed uttering the name of the legendary boss dragon.
"Somebody get a medical ninja in here to take care of them. They've obviously had an encounter with the enemy and I don't want to lose valuable information and people just because we were slow at taking care of their wounds." she ordered "Now Death, Flagenza I will have you report in a moment but first I need to brief the people here for an urgent reconnaissance mission." she said as she handed off the evidence she had gathered from her own fight to one of the chunnin assistants and ordered him to send it to the village labs for examination.
"We don't know much about the enemy yet. However we do know that at the very least that some of them unitize advanced cybernetics and weaponry. One of them in particular was wearing a special power suit that happened to be equipped with a prototype weapon that shouldn't exist. May if you could use 'that jutsu please" asked Midori. Nodding May's eyes light up as she projected a 3d halographic display of the Mecha panther suit with a special emphasis on the railgun mounted on it's shoulder.
"I will now share with you classified information. Half a year ago, I was given a black list mission to disband a upstart pcm known only as Ragin Cell which was causing problems over at the border between our country The land of towns and Iron Country. I was given free reign on how to disband them and so I chose the most effective method I could think off...annihilating them. After locating their base I whiped out all personal and wrecked most of their infrastructure, but not before stealing all the information on their database.
As you can probably guess the only known blueprint for this particular make of Railgun was on that database. Considering the condition I left the database in nobody other then myself should be able to manufacture an exact duplicate unless they somehow where able to recover and salvage the remains. Ragin Cell was a small PMC, even before I wreaked them they didn't have the man power necessary for the scale of the attack we have seen today. However they WHERE known for their advanced weaponry and cybernetic research so we can safely assume that somehow their data has fallen into this new enemy's hands...
I know it's dangerous but I need a team to go to the ruins of Raging cells former base to investigate for clues since it will take a while to analyze the ones we currently have. Yuki, Daniel and Zira. You 3 are the team I have chosen for this vital mission. You are to escort May as she will prove invaluable for accessing what's left of the bases computer systems.
Yuki as you know while May can more then handle her own in a combat situation she hasn't seen much out the outside world so I'm counting on you to keep an eye out for her. Unfortunate well we know where the bases general location is we don't have a way to mark down precise location due to the jungle like terrain and the fact I lacked a gps at the time.
Death and Flagenza as soon as you are properly healed up I want you to head up after them in order to act as back up should something untoward happen. We have to assume that the enemy is aware of the base as we are so it might be a trap. If it is, the others will undoubtedly need your assistance. In the mean time I want a report on your situation and if anybody has any questions ask them now before the mission starts." declared Midori as she finished her briefing

"of course we will follow immediatley." flagenza stated as a medical ninja began working on his wounds. "inside a base of metal my abilities will reach there peek of strength i would hate to leave the first team with out that advantage for long." flagenza found himself lost in thought for a moment as he tried to determine the best techniques in his arsenal. with this he hoped to keep himself from spending to much time thinking in the field, thus waisting precious time.
" these things we were fighting they certainly on are end were anything but human. do we have any information as to what they are. i've never on my travels come upon such creatures as these?"

As a medic began working on Death, primarily his back, Death congratulated Midori on becoming Kage. "That's pretty cool, I'm a little surprised even." Death understood what was expected of him in the upcoming mission, his task was simple enough and he had no further comments or questions. "Let's go kick some a**!"

Daniel went wide eyed at the knowledge that Vix had gone missing, even more when he heard that Midori had now become the Kage. He felt a little dizzy and sat down for a moment before getting up. Such weakness would be disrespectful if he did it in front of the new kage. He stood at attention in the meantime, listening to his briefing, wondering how a regular PMC could have obtained the funds to make this "railgun." It certainly looked impressive but in the hands of a small PMC, it was dangerous! At the assignment, he nodded, "Yes sir! Understood sir!" Just as someone entered. Upon his statement he realized that he was in the same clan as that fighter in his arena who fought with Midori before leaving.... Chaos he thought.

Upon hearing that he would be part of the cell for this mission, Yuki nodded. He knew this was vital to the village. Still, he was only a genin. If they had to resort to using novices for something so important, the peril really must be great. Yuki knew he wasn't an awful shinobi; in fact, he had quite proved his skills recently during his sparring in the Moon Forest, the village arena, and just that morning against this new threat. But he was far from excellent. He was still greatly inexperienced, and only skilled with several techniques, none of which had he fully mastered. "Midori-sama," he began to say, but immediately paused for a moment. He couldn't voice how he felt right now. He realized that he wouldn;t solve anything by pointing out why he might not be much help. Instead, he tried to focus on the fact that he could help at all. "I am honored that you chose me for this. I only wish that this mission hadn't come to be necessary, if only for the fact that this new enemy is such a threat." Swallowing hard, Yuki readied himself mentally for the coming task. Then there was the problem with May. Yuki knew that May was capable, but what Midori said about him having to make sure she was alright worried him. How could he do that, when he himself would need help with that very same thing? Yuki had never been very far from the village. He also knew that May could take care of herself. At least, he assumed so because of the level of intelligence and adaptiveness she had displayed thus far. But inside he knew he had no choice. The new Gaikukage was counting on him. And more than that, his new teacher was counting on him. Still, Yuki was glad to hear that Death and Flagenza would join them. Yuki still didn't know much about Flagenza, but Death, he knew, was more than capable of saving his a**, should it so need saving. Regardless, Yuki was going on this mission, and he would do his best to see it completed, for the sake of the village.

May felt a strange feeling welling up within her chest. A human perhaps would describe it as trepidation or maybe pride, but for her she understood neither of those emotions and the fact that she was even capable of experiencing them was mystifying to her.
"Yes master, I shall not fail you." she spoke with reverence as she switched the holographic display from the rail gun to a map of the region where the pmc base was located. One area in particular was highlighted with a large red circle which covered about a area equivalent to a few blocks worth of ground.
"The base is somewhere within this parameter. Once within we should be able to locate it quickly" she told the others.
