Off the top of my head, I can think of two approaches to your question:
You can start with general descriptions of the major paths and work inward on one or two which resonate with you. Where does your worldview fit in? Or: You can ask yourself what you believe as to nature of deity, spirits, the human condition and place in the cosmos, how and why we are here. Then proceed to find what faith group would embrace you.
Some of us are still looking.

Thank-you! I had some fun with layering skins.
Continuing with the question.....I was thinking about easy answers....and, truly, I would be wary of them. Anything worth learning is worth the effort. I call what I do a 'path' because it is all about a journey whose end I cannot yet imagine.
Sounds like a song is lurking in there.

it does ^-^
I think im going to study the Egyptian gods right now. I have always loved Egypt and when i read a book on Egypt I can get lost in my imagination. I have also been dream about Ra the last couple of nights.
I have a question though, say I started believing in a couple of the Egyptian god/dess, would i have to have the same religion as the Egyptians, or can i go on believe in what i already do, and just incorporate it into my beliefs??

I have a friend who is a devotee of Bast whose personal practices otherwise look like a dark, witchy form of solitary wicca. My mother, who was initiated into some sort of Dianic mystery group is a follower of Isis. Neither is any sort of reconstructionist. In fact, I don't think I've heard of anyone trying to recreate ancient Egyptian religious practices; other cultures, such as the Roman, yes, but not the Egyptian.
In my opinion, bolstered by the experiences of others, it is possible to build a fulfilling practice of a relationship with an ancient deity within modern ritual structures. I must admit that I have regularly 'bedeviled' fans of traditional lore by asking if the ancient Gods and Goddesses are the same now as they were hundreds and thousands of years ago. We can debate just how much the 'essential nature' of a deity remains unchanged over the eons. Another debate is whether you need to accept an entire pantheon along with devotion to one deity. My opinion, here, is a no, but, then, I believe that all Gods exist.
